Bellum Letale

Apartments For Rent
VACANT. Born in truly humble beginnings, Mercédès Mondego had to struggle to make ends meet while growing up. She was willing to marry the young Edmund Dantès despite his poverty, but when he was pronounced legally dead after years in prison, she had to force herself to move on. Edmund Dantès's old friend Fernand Mondego, was extremely sympathetic, affectionate, and rich. She accepted his marriage proposal. She might be the only one in the building able to truly identify the mysterious Count of Monte Cristo.

VACANT. Momotaro is a transplanted farmboy that has decided New York is the place to make his fortune. He's a little loud and a little brash but his charisma is undeniable. Everyone can't help but wonder what exactly it is he plans on succeeding at, since he seems more interested in New York's night life than anything else. Momotaro definitely grates on the nerves of the more refined personages in the building, since he'd prefer a nice drunken fist-fight to civil conversation. He frequented Jack of Tales ' bar before the other man was fired, and he knew Goldilocks before she went all Paris Hilton on everybody.

VACANT. ADDITIONAL AVAILABLE TENANTS.

Premise: There is an apartment building in New York called 'Bellum Letale.' Most people ignore its auspicious name, though they would be advised to pay more attention to its meaning.

It is a strange building.

Every man, woman and child in the building is a reincarnated fable, the stories told to human children for hundreds, sometimes thousands of years. Once very real, the fables began to fade as science and reason dispelled the probability of their existence. They have all been reborn in human forms, though their essence remains, waiting to be awakened at the right time, in the right place.

Now is the time - Bellum Letale is the place. As their lives connect and weave together, as they follow their petty desires and long-held grudges, they are, all of them, on the brink of disaster. Their Landlord knows their every move, and the building they live in seems to have an agenda of its own. People are tortured, people die, people plot behind each other's backs and sneak around and cheat. They love, they fight, they draw blood. This is not the fairy tale you remember being told.

the LIGHT OF MAY

the LIGHT OF MAY

On May 1st, 2009, nation leaders spoke together to reveal a truth to the world: the supernatural world is real. Vampires, werewolves, and more exist. They have been known to the government for a long time, and now they are coming out of the shadows - and they come with a message. They are not a threat. They mean no danger to humans. But there are other things out there that do.

The days that followed changed everything most people believed they knew about the world, about history, and most importantly, about themselves. Celebrities, politicians, the family down the street - they began revealing their true identities, and telling the world what they really were. Missing people that had been turned against their will came out of hiding, and orginizations popped up to reunite them with their families. The revealing of the supernatural was penned in the media as the Light of May, as society made room for the supernatural.

It wasn't easy. Many, human and supernatural alike, were terrified of what this would mean. Some wanted to keep the supernatural abominations down. Leading figures of both Democratic and Republican parties were revealed to be supernaturals themselves, and joined together to fight for civil rights for the supernatural. It is revealed that if the supernatural were wiped out, half of the entire world's population would be gone. Independent parties popped up through-out the country, opposing supernatural rights, and the fight goes on. But those aren't the only battles being fought.

Why did the Light of May happen? If the supernatural has always existed, why are they only making themselves known now? For centuries, those with supernatural blood have been hunted, held, and killed - all for the benefits of their blood to hunters, and vampires who don't want to play by the rules of etiquette. There was a time when the angels, and even the fae, fought to protect them. But the fae have been extinct for hundreds of years, and worse - the angels seem to have disappeared. There is nothing fighting the demons of the world at bay now. The human race is at risk, and they are not alone.

Everyone knew it was coming. The end of the world as we knew it. Earthquakes, hurricanes, droughts, floods, illnesses we can't even begin to describe. But no one wanted to accept it until it was too late. By the time the world's leaders started to take action, over two thirds of the population on the once beautiful planet had been wiped out.

Great care is being taken to protect the living. The newly formed world government, consisting of leaders from several of the great nations, have worked together to create sanctuary. Using a blend of diplomacy, technology, and medicine, they created Salus, a home for the survivors of what they may as well declare the apocolypse. By most regards, Salus could just be a country club or an all-inclusive resort. There's plenty of food, one of the few places left that has any at all. There's a swimming pool, a track, even a stable. Every person has a bedroom of their own and a semi-private bath. The complex spreads out over ten miles, and includes plenty of recreational activities for everyone.

But something doesn't add up. People go missing for days at a time and then return as if nothing was wrong. One day, they'll wake up changed...but it never lasts long. Sometimes they wake up in an entirely different place than where they fell asleep. The cuts and bruises they're receiving every day aren't from the natural disasters they've already survived, or the minor ones that are still occurring every so often.

Through it all, the residents of Salus are surviving. They're socializing, creating, and falling in love. Despite all they've gone through and are going through still, they're living. But the question remains: are they truly being sheltered by 'the good guys'?

GAME BEGINS UPON ACCEPTING TEN CHARACTERS. Join today!
