It has come to the notice of the Morningstar Manor Tenants' Association that you are members of the band known as Arcane. Sirs, you rock! Play a set for us - just a little one - at the Hallowe'en Ball this year and we might even pay you!! Can't say fairer than that, can we?

To say they needed an afternoon off was an understatement. Seth had happily agreed to take Nia for the afternoon and didn't seem bothered that a little gargoyle was tagging along. And since Nick and Jack both had a few hours to spare they grabbed Zack and all went to get a bit of practice in.

"Have you been practicing at all?" Zack teased Deacon when he fumbled a riff and Deacon moch glared.

"Oh yeah in all that spare time I've had lately."

Subject: Party Saturday night

Hi, guys,

To celebrate Arcane's performance at the STS3 concert D and I would be delighted if you could join us at the lakehouse on Saturday night. There's a Google map attached that shows you how to get there. Bring your swimmers and we can go in the lake and D's going to barbeque stuff and we can just generally chill. Plenty of room to sleepover so no need to worry about driving back.

"So I'm gonna call Lara I guess and see what she thinks," Deacon was saying to Nick. "But I dunno. The playlist for this one is just givin' me a hard time."

He took a drag off his cigarette and slowly blew the smoke out his nose. They were sitting in one of the gazebos in the garden, Deacon sitting up on a railing with his feet on the bench and elbows on his knees.

Nick had got there a bit early to set up and had gone out again to buy a load of water and sodas. The room was ferociously hot and stuffy and when he got back Nick packed the drinks into the little refrigerator and left the doors open to try and get some fresh air in there.

He felt they would all need cool heads if they were going to duscuss the possibility of playing at Ms Follet's concert.

Jack had met Ricky outside the building and escorted him in and a round of introductions had been done. He was greeted with the usual charm and good will the band showed with most people and if anyone had any worries or misgivings about Ricky's presence it was well hidden.

Deacon had called everyone to order before Jack and Zack could get totally caught up in conversations about record labels and money and was pleased to find that they fell back into full concentration quickly.

Ricky was soon mostly forgotten as they got down to the business at hand.

It had gone pretty well as practices went. Wednesday instead of Friday in case, as Charlie put it, Andy maimed them for what they might do on Thursday, though if Nick had his way they would practice on Friday as well.

They had gone through one set, broke for a beer, then went through another, making minor adjustments to the unfamiliar pieces. They called it a night when Seth and Charlie arrived with pizzas and more beer and sat around chatting and catching up.

Someone has put in quite a lot of effort in getting these posters out - it's going to take days to wash the glue off. ( Read more... )
