Entry tags:bella cullen, day 3, jacob black

Character(s): Bella Cullen and Jacob Black.
Day: Day 3.
Time of Day: Evening, around six pm.
Location: The beach on the good side of town.
Rating: TBD.
Status: Incomplete.

Bella had been anxious, the nervous excitement kind that she figured came naturally. She had just passed her control test in front of Jacob, Leah and Seth and was about to see Renesmee for the first time as a newborn. Obviously she didn’t want to put her daughter in harms way at all but even Edward seemed impressed with her control thus far, that had to mean something. But yet she was nervous, her good luck had to run out sometime.

Though none of that worry seemed to matter anymore because she wasn’t where she was supposed to be. Bella had spent an unidentified amount of time crouched into her hunting position, on edge and completely confused. She was no longer standing outside of the house, preparing to see her daughter for the first time nor was Edward or the others anywhere in sight. Her human memories were still foggy but everything from seeing Edwards face for the first time with her new eyes to her first hunting trip were crystal clear. That is why when she couldn’t remember anything at all about how she got to where she was currently standing she knew something had gone horribly wrong.

After calming herself down and standing, Bella paced for a few long moments, the annoying heels Alice had set out for her digging into the sand as she did so. She didn’t need to pace, she could have stood perfectly still and felt just as comfortable but the human habit seemed fitting in the current situation. “Think.” Bella whispered to herself, stopping suddenly with sigh. What was going on?

Jacob was on the way to the beach for an evening swim, when he suddenly smelled something.

"Uh", he grumbled. He knew that scent! Of course a vampire had to show up sooner or later and my the smell of it it came from the beach, not the evil side of town.

Jacob rushed forward, ready to phase into his wolf form at any second. Reaching the beach he saw a figure not too far away. She had her back to him, but she was definitely a vampire.

He growled and was starting to shake.

She seemed to be getting nowhere, no matter how many times she tried to remember she just couldn’t. Bella refused to give up though, she was hoping to pick up on something she had missed previously but of course she knew that wasn’t possible, she was just being stubborn about it.

With another sigh Bella took in her surroundings but with interest this time, her eyes scanning the beach. It still amazed her how sharp everything was now, she could pick out the individual grains of sand with little difficulty and the wat- Ugh, what was that smell? She tensed, concentrating on the new scent she had picked up on.

Bella turned suddenly, her movement so fast it might have seemed like she had always been standing that way. She knew that scent.

“Jacob?”

The sound of his name made Jacob stop. The shaking was gone and the transformation to werewolf stopped as he stared at the vampire that was now looking at him.

His mouth dropped slightly open as he realized who it was. She looked different, even paler than usual, her skin was sparkling in the evening sun and her eyes were bloodred. But it was her.

"Bella?", he asked, still staring at her unbelievingly. It was really her. She hadn't died. Well, not totally. She made it and became a vampire.

"How?", was all he managed to say for the moment, his thoughts racing through his head. He had been so sure, that she was gone. The bond that had been so strong between them, especially over the last days, had just disappeared. But maybe it wasn't because she died. Maybe it was because she changed. He couldn't feel that way about a vampire. It just wasn't possible. They were enemies by nature. But he still loved her and was glad that she made it. He didn't care that she was a smelly vampire now. She was still alive and that was all that mattered.

The look of disbelief changed into one of joy and a smile appeared on his face.

"You're alive. Or well, as alive as you can be", he said. Part of him wanted to run to her and hug her, but another part of him told him that that probably wouldn't be a good idea.

His eyes went back to her bloodred ones. "You're not going to try to eat me, are you?", he asked, feeling a little uncertain. Newborns were supposed to be bad at controlling themselves. But Bella hadn't attacked him yet, so that was a good sign, right?

“Yeah.” Bella whispered, she wasn’t that shocked to see him as the last memory before arriving he had been there. It was the look on his face that had surprised her, then the question came. How what?

She frowned in confusion, tilting her head to the side as she watched him. Hoping he would elaborate before she told him to spit it out.

“I’m..yeah, Edward-“ Bella trailed off, ok, now she was beyond confused but despite that she couldn’t help laugh, even if it came out a little more nervous than she would have liked. She shook her head slowly, “no I’m not going to eat you. What kind of question is that?” Bella teased, taking a few steps closer because it was Jacob, werewolf or not he was still her best friend. “I’m fine, I’ve got some kind of super control apparently.” She grinned slightly, “lucky for you.”

Jacob was watching her. Her face looked like stone now, but he still could make out the confused look on it. Parts of her old self were shining through. It made him smile.

"Sorry, had to ask. You're one of them now", he said with an apologetic shrug. But then a grin spread on his face again. He just couldn't help it. She was alive!

"Good for you and everyone else here", he said.

"So, just arrived", he said. The look of confusion on her face and the fact that he hadn't smelled her before made him sure that she hadn't been here for long.

"Lucky for you I've been here for about a week. Your personal guide at your service", he said with a grin and bowed slightly. His cheerful mood was coming back completely now. Bella was alive, what more could he ask for? Well, he would have preferred her as a human. But considering why they were here he thought that she might be safer as a vampire. He snorted slightly. He had spent too much time around vampires if he thought anyone was better off as a vampire.

His face then turned serious. "This might sound strange, Bella, but well... what isn't in our lives", he started. He was a werewolf, she a vampire. "Anyway, we've apparently been brought here to fight in the final war of good and evil."

“Very good for everyone,” Bella agreed seriously. She had been expecting for months before being turned that being a newborn would completely change her but thus far apart from the physical changes and roomier mind, she was the same old Bella. Give and take a few minor alterations, such as she wasn't a complete klutz anymore. But that was something she wasn't relying on, her luck could change with one fall.

Bella laughed despite herself before she caught on, “a week?” That made no sense, she would have remembered if he had gone missing, right? She sighed lightly, so far her control was reasonably good but freaking out over everything would not be good for anyone. It just didn't make sense.

“Wha- Are you ok, Jake? You’re not making much sense.” Bella frowned, her eyes trained on him as she tried to figure out if he was telling the truth.

Jacob looked at her. Something was bothering her, he could tell. She looked confused again.

"I'm not saying that this makes sense. It's what I've been told and what's written in our welcoming letters. We've been 'kidnapped' and brought to this island to fight against evil in one final war. The other people here don't seem to know more than we do either. They come from different worlds. Well, some might be from back home, who knows?", he said with a shrug. Then he looked at Bella feeling a little defeated.

"Sorry, if it sounds like I'm not making sense. This is really weird, I know. But I'm telling you what I know. And it's not a joke." Part of him wished it was. No matter if Bella was a vampire now he still didn't want her to have to fight in a war.

None of it made sense, not completely. But Bella tried to take in what he was telling her, he sounded serious after all. Kidnapped was one way of explaining the lack of memories and how she got there but it didn’t explain how whoever was responsible got through Edward. With a sigh she headed over to where he was standing, suppressing the urge to wrinkle her nose at his scent.

“Just when I thought our lives couldn’t get any weirder.” Bella murmured after a moment. It was easier to get her head around it if she focused on the little snippets rather than details, for now at least. And if she focused on something positive such as Jacob being there it wasn’t so bad, it was much better than being alone.

“Wait, a literal final war?” That did not sound good, literal or not. Wars tended to end badly.

Jacob observed her closely as she stepped towards him. It was weird that she smelled so badly now. But he had gotten used to it over the past days.

His eyes then met hers and he couldn't help but grimace. "You know, Bells, you do look like a freakshow", he pointed out. The eyes were creepy.

Jacob chuckled at her words. "Yeah, that's what I thought, too."

He then shrugged. "It's supposed to be. If we win good is supposed to win over evil everywhere", he said. "That would be a good thing, right?", he said and grinned. "We could go back home and would never have to worry about other vamps showing up trying to hurt someone. Probably Bella, she was a magnet for vamps after all. Or had that changed now that she was one herself?

His gaze then fell on Bellas clothes, taking them in more properly. "Jeez, did Alice really let you walk around in that?", he asked.

"And is that blood?", he added glancing more closely at the fabric.

“The eyes.” Bella guessed with a smirk, they weren’t exactly the most settling thing for her too look at either. She was told they would fade in time and she understood they would never be the colour they were before but still, the red was just strange to look at. “I know, they really are something.”

Now that would make life back home much simpler, it would be safe for Renesmee and the rest of the family. But what if good lost, what happened then? “It would be a very good thing,” Bella agreed. “If we win.” She added hesitantly, positive attitude had never been something she was particularly good at and adding confusion made it worse.

Bella looked down at said clothing and grimaced, it wasn’t just the state but lack of dress left that bothered her most. It hadn’t exactly been the first thing she thought of worrying about upon arriving but she was damned sure Alice would have a fit if she saw the state of her now. Her eyes flickered back up at the mention of blood and she nodded, “first hunt. I got a bit..carried away.” Bella swiftly wanted to move on from that topic, the all too familiar burning in her throat flared up with the thought. “And hey, there’s nothing wrong with the dress. It wasn’t exactly like this when Alice made me wear it but I think it’s a better look now,” she managed a small grin, mocking fashion was always amusing, “the blood and shredded material gives it character.”

Jacob grinned and nodded. He however didn't really care. After he thought he lost Bella forever having her back was all he cared about. Red eyes or not, she was here and that was all that mattered to him.

"Not if, when", Jacob pointed out. "Come on, Bella, think positive. You survived that monster of yours. If that turned out good everything else will, too." He then narrowed his eyes slightly. "What happened to the... baby anyway?" He had almost called it monster again, but thought she might not like that.

At the mention of hunting Jacob grimaced. That probably wasn't nice. But then again, as long as she just hunted animals he couldn't say anything against it. He sometimes did the same when he was in wolf form.

He then started laughing at her words. "I bet Alice wouldn't agree to that", he said still laughing hard. Bella really hadn't changed that much. Her character was still the same. And he couldn't complain about the being harder to kill part, seeing as there would soon be a war.

"How about I show you your room so you can get cleaned up and changed. You're not frightening me, but there are other people around. They might think differently."

He then linked his arm with hers and grinned, leading her towards the living quarters. "You know I never thought I'd even think it, but maybe it's not that bad you're a vampire now", he then admitted.

Bella visibly winced at the term monster, to her the baby, Renesmee, even in the womb was not a monster. She was only doing what she had to do to survive and Bella’s body was not strong enough to hold itself together in the end but that was her fault not the babies. “She’s fine, I think. I didn’t get to see her, everyone thought..” Bella trailed off and looked away for a moment.“..Because I’m a newborn, it might not have been safe for me to be around her.” She finished finally, looking back over at Jacob. “I was going to see her before ending up here.”

No, Alice definitely wouldn’t have agreed. Bella laughed too, “she would have me changed the second she saw me.” She grinned, “and I think she took her time picking out this outfit too.”

“Ugh, do I look that bad?” Bella complained, the thought of going through all the effort of tidying herself up again was a stressful one. Although after his words sunk in she felt the confusion wash over her features again, “I have a room?”

Bella let him lead her toward the living quarters without much protest and her mood lifted considerably at what he had to say. She smiled softly, or at least as softly as she could manage in the situation. “Gee, don’t go overboard with the compliments there.” She teased. “No, but really? I know you haven’t always been fond of the idea.”

Jacob frowned at that. Everyone still seemed to be concerned about the little bloodsucking monster. It looked like Bella had managed to convince them all by now. Part of him still wanted to get his hands on the monster when he remembered how Bella looked right before she changed. But he knew it would only hurt Bella, so he kept the thoughts to himself and decided not to do anything stupid once they got back. He'd access the situation first.

"Sorry", he then mumbled. He knew she loved her baby even when it was killing her, so she surely wanted to see it now. He wasn't sorry that she couldn't see it, but he felt sorry for her that she wanted to but couldn't.

"I bet she would. But at least you made good use of the outfit. I heard the Cullens aren't allowed to wear anything twice. So that outfit fullfilled it's purpose completely." He laughed slightly.

He then glanced at her. "Well, the eyes are the worst, but you won't be able to change that, will you?", he asked. He already missed her big brown eyes.

"We all get rooms here. I'm sure you got one, too."

He then shrugged at her words. "I'm still not. Don't get me wrong. Vampires are still my least favorite creatures." He glanced at her apologetically. "But we're waiting for a war to begin. And knowing you you'd probably have managed to get yourself killed first", he said. "Now that'll at least be a lot more difficult. And I promise I won't tell anyone how to kill you." He grinned. If everyone else was from other worlds they might not know how to kill a vampire like Bella. She could be safe.

They then entered the lobby and Jacob led her over to the reception desk. Once there he took the book and glanced at it.

"Looks like your room is right next to mine", he said grinning. "I hope the ventilation is good", he then added with a laugh.

Bella simply nodded, not trusting herself to speak until she composed herself. She was holding onto a certain amount of denial, she had so far convinced herself that she would see her baby and Edward soon. There was no need to panic yet. It took a few long moments but she finally spoke again, “it’s fine.” Not the most convincing of statements.

“I’m not sure what this outfit was purposed for but silk? Not good for hunting.” Bella laughed lightly and tugged absently at a shredded piece of the dress. Not that she was going to follow that Cullen tradition, she liked wearing her clothes more than once because it meant there was less money spent unnecessarily. Though, she knew Alice had been waiting to redo her whole wardrobe for months now and she couldn't say no to her. The thought of all that shopping made her cringe, how did anyone like it?

“The red will go away but they won’t be the same, no.” Bella frowned, unless she decided to go for contacts but she wasn’t sure if they would work or not and even then they would never be the same brown they were.

Bella nodded, she could understand that. Though she was pretty sure she was supposed to be against werewolves too, even if the smell was disgusting she still wasn’t about to start hating them. “I wasn’t that bad,” she protested stubbornly. Ok, her clumsiness and magnet for danger was a problem before but she wasn’t so sure now. She was dreading finding out. “Thank you so much.” Bella rolled her eyes, “I knew you wouldn’t.”

As he took the book she watched carefully, marvelling in the amount of details of everything yet again. It really was something seeing the world through her new eyes, every little thing was fascinating. Even the dust particles.

“Huh, it’s like they already knew we knew each other.” Bella thought aloud, that was somewhat creepy. Mocking a glare in his direction she gave his arm a gentle shove, “you stink too you know.”

Jacob glanced at Bella, not really believing her words. It wasn't fine for her. He however didn't say anything, preferring not to talk about Bellas child.

He then chuckled. "I bet it isn't", he agreed. "Someone should tell Alice that." He however had the feeling that the small vampire wouldn't care.

"Good", he said. "The red might scare people away." He guessed that usually was a good thing. But Bella wasn't evil. She just didn't have it in her, vampire or not. He was sure of that.

Jacob then laughed. "Yeah, right. You would have managed to get yourself killed even if there was no war", he said trying to look innocent. She had been on the best way to do that back home. He really did believe she was dead.

"I guess they do. Whoever is powerful enough to bring us here probably knows a lot, too", he said.

"I've been told", he then answered rolling his eyes, while rubbing the spot she shoved him. "I guess you won't break your hand anymore when hitting me. Looks like I'll have to behave from now on."

He then grabbed her key and led her towards her room.

Bella smirked, “do you think she would listen? She would have me dressed up in silk and dresses all the time if she had the choice.” And her hair, don’t get started on her hair. But that wasn’t something she complained a great deal about since Alice and Rosalie were the only ones who seemed able to make her hair look stylish.

“Yeah, the red is something.” She repeated, “hopefully it’ll fade really soon. It’s not easy for me to look at either.” Bella admitted, actually her whole new appearance was going to take some getting used to. Her first encounter of her reflection was something; she was graceful and almost as perfect looking as the other Cullens which amazed her to no end.

“Killed is a strong word,” Bella protested weakly. “Hurt maybe, that’s inevitable.” Even now as a vampire she wasn’t positive that her new found elegance would last."

Bella frowned again, “I think it’s creepy. Someone knowing information on us can’t be good, especially with a war involved.”

At the mention of breaking her hand she grinned despite herself, though there was a hint of seriousness there too. “Don’t give me any reason to punch you again and we’ll be fine.” She gave him a pointed look and again had no problems with him leading the way.

"Probably not", Jacob said. "Don't start listening to her now", he then added. He loved Bella the way she always had been. She had changed enough now and he'd rather have her dressed in a familiar way at least. "But I guess you won't have to as Alice isn't here. At least not yet." There was always the possibility that she came here. Part of him almost hoped she'd show up. Her ability to see the future might be useful in the war.

Jacob glanced at Bella and shrugged. "It's not that bad", he lied, trying to make her feel better. He just couldn't help it.

He then laughed. "Yeah, that was inevitable", he agreed. He remembered well how often she had just fallen and hurt herself. That was over now however. And at least for that part he was thankful.

Jacob nodded. It was a little creepy, but he was used to others knowing about him. The other werewolves practically knew his every thought. "I'm sure we'll be fine. Noone I met here seemed to know anything about me. I don't think our secrets are being given away."

"I'll do my best", he said with a grin. Right now he didn't feel the urge to kiss her anymore. It might have to do with the bad smell. It was a good thing, too. Even if Edward wasn't here, Bella was still married to him.

"We're here", he then announced and handed her her key so she could go into her room.

"I can wait in my room until you're done and then show you around, if you want to", he offered.
