Who: Caroline and Klaus
What: Klaus teaching Caro better feeding habits
Where: a club in Lawrence
When: tonight
Warnings: well vampires feeding on humans for one and I will so update this as the log progresses

To say that Caroline was feeling nervous was a pretty damn big understatement. Part of it was nerves, fear that she would hurt someone--kill someone--and that was something she definitely did not want to do. She also knew that continuing to stay away from ever feeding on humans, to keep going as long as she had without doing so, was going to come back and bite her in the ass eventually. How was she supposed to gain any kind of control over it if she didn’t ever do it?

She knew she couldn’t rely on blood bags forever--not that it wouldn’t stop being her main source of feeding--but there would definitely come a time when she wouldn’t be able to have access to blood bags and while she could feed from animals it wasn’t exactly the best nourishment. And if it went on long enough it might end up snapping her control in half, something she wasn’t about to let happen.

So Caroline had decided to accept the idea of Klaus helping her learn how to do it properly. She truly did trust that he wouldn’t let her fall, he wouldn’t let her needlessly kill anyone. She trusted him with all of her being which in itself was a damn scary prospect but one that she couldn’t deny. Plus it got him to finally go with needing to tell Henrik about everything that had happened to his family, about what all of his siblings had become and that was something she knew needed to happen. No matter how much they all seemed to want to put it off.

Caroline’s body throbbed to the music of the club, watching the dancers on the floor grind up against one another, those at the bar taking shots, drinking various types of alcohol, and she couldn’t help but smile. Even if her stomach was doing that damn annoying twisty thing. She linked her fingers with Klaus’, turning to look at him.

“So...where do we start, oh wise one?”

She'd finally agreed to let him help her. Alright so she'd gotten there when he had agreed that he would join his siblings in explaining the truth to the youngest of them. The newly arrived Henrik. Something he still wasn't sure he wanted to do, shatter the boy's illusions of their shared past. Klaus had built a thousand year history of deceit and lies and yet with Caroline that all faded. She was his light. That beautiful and kind girl that he still didn't understand why he had fallen so deeply for. He wouldn't change her, change this, for the world but it confused him. She made him care more deeply than anyone ever had, he'd changed long held plans for her, he hadn't killed Katherine Pierce because of her, he'd given Stefan his blood to cure him from his own bite, in part because of how she'd have reacted, he hadn't done so much of what he normally was capable of simply because it would upset her.

And now they were here and part of Klaus wondered if this wouldn't diminish that light, just a little. But he was honestly doing this to help her. She had such control, he wondered if she couldn't make it stretch to this. She couldn't live forever on animal blood and she was far from a Ripper, she'd just learned from Stefan."

Her hand was linked in his and she looked ready, she looked beautiful but that wasn't unusual. "First thing you need to remember. I have killed, I do, I've never cared for my victims. I'd find someone in this club, drain them, drop them, move on. But for you, because of you, that's different here. I'm telling you this not to win favour but so you understand that I have crossed every line I'm going to teach you not to so don't look to me as your role model in this. Now Alexia, and her lover, do you expect they feed on bears and pigs and wild dogs. No they feed, they drink from humans and very likely this is how. Thing about a place like this is you can be blatant. Grab some insipid idiot, few words in their ear, get them on to the dance floor or a quiet corner and you can take what you need. That's the easy bit. It's stopping before you've taken it all, that's the trick."

And that was what Caroline would need to learn most of all, and that was why he was with her here. In truth someone like Alexia probably would have been a better teacher but he had offered the lesson and his love had accepted.

Klaus moved to stand behind her, hand still linked loosely in hers as the other slid around her waist.

"You need to pick someone. Anyone."

Caroline’s grip tightened on his hand for a moment after he said those words. She needed to pick a victim. And that’s when she shook her head, trying to clear that word from her mind. They weren’t a victim, they would not die. They would go on living their lives, no wiser to what had happened, and the thought of that twisted inside of her, unsettling in her stomach. Memories of when she’d been Damon’s meal flashed in her head and she shut her eyes, trying to blink away those thoughts, to now allow them to implant roots in her mind and twist her way of thinking.

Damon hadn’t cared what he did to her. She knew he had wanted to make her fearful, to hurt her because of his own issues. And that wasn’t who Caroline was; she wouldn’t make others hurt or fear her on purpose. The first person she had ever drank from was still walking around Mystic Falls, living her life and doing her job. Though it seemed the nurse’s sex life with her husband had definitely kicked up a notch because of that little compulsion to cover up the fact she’d been bitten.

Caroline could do this. She knew Klaus wouldn’t let her go too far if she got lost in the bloodlust. Maybe others would never trust him, but she did trust the Hybrid, especially when it came to her own safety. And he didn’t just care about her physical safety but her mental as well and killing someone when she fed would significantly hurt her, something Caroline knew Klaus wouldn’t let happen.

She gazed around the room, trying to find someone who was by themselves. She didn’t want the effort of luring anyone away from their friends. “Dark haired guy over at the bar. All the way back in the corner. He’s by himself and no one’s approached him since we came in and he looks like he’d like some company,” she told Klaus, looking back at him. “What do you think?”

She was nervous, That much was immediately obvious. She was nervous about what she was about to do. If she'd manage it, if the bloodlust would take her. But she was willing to trust him too. And so he watched her, her eyes scanning the room. Picking out her target. And she chose as he expected she would. As they all did at first, the poor sad little man in the corner, no friends, nothing that anyone would ever truly miss.

"Going for the lonely, the alone. It makes it easier doesn't it? You move in, you do what you need to and its done. But it can look a bit obvious sometimes if you know what to look for, if you were say, a hunter on the lookout for something unusual. Truth be told love, there's something to be said for a crowd, hedonistic foolhardy young things, they don't always notice. Oh I won't deny, if I was going for the kill I'd pick him. No one to miss him. But for a feed. I'd pick her."

Klaus nodded to a girl, amid a group of three or four friends, a girl that had been staring at him for a few minutes now and occasionally glancing to Caroline and whispering back to her friends. "I'd have no trouble getting her to dance, no trouble whispering in her ear to stay nice and compliant and then I could drink what I wanted and be done with it. She'd go back believing she'd had a good time, and I'd move on."

He did wonder if Caroline would be jealous if he did, if he'd be jealous if she picked any of the young men who would likely find her attractive. Probably not, he'd feed them their own intestines if they tried anything.

"Your choice. I'll keep you safe whatever you choose."

If she had been human!Caroline jealousy would have coursed through her body in seconds. Old insecurities easily coming to the forefront and threatening to overtake her, but she had grown up, come into her own skin, and jealousy over some random girl checking out Klaus just seemed very beneath her. She knew how Klaus felt about her, was very secure in that knowledge and if he wanted to drink from the girl and then leave her behind it really didn’t matter to her.

After all the girl was just a meal.

Caroline scanned the crowd again, no longer wanting to go with the single man, concerned she might lose control because he was alone. A quick drink in the crowd would be better. Maybe she could do multiples then. She wasn’t too sure, but she did pick out a new target.

“Well, how about her,” Caroline suggested, nodding toward another group of girls. “Because that one has been checking me out since we got in here and I bet I could persuade her to dance. And then what? Compel to be compliant, feed some and then tell her to go on her merry way and forget all about me?”

That seemed simple enough. Even if she was still a mess of nerves.

Klaus followed her gaze to the girl she mentioned and yes, he could see it in her eyes. Ironically Caroline was dealing with any specific jealousy better than he was, perhaps it was his wolf side, he wasn't sure. But he knew that Caroline was his and would remain his. And she'd made a good choice. The girl would dance with her, Caroline would do what she needed to do and take what she wanted. It was easy if you knew your limits, if you understood control. And Caroline had mastered that quicker than most vampires.

"Perfect." he told her. "Engage her in conversation, slip your compulsion in, get her out to that dance floor, people don't notice, they'll move around you, they'll carry on, the lights, the alcohol surging in their veins, the music, every pulsing beat of every song. I'll be nearby too. I'll be watching. I'll even go first if you'd like. Unless you think you're ready. Frankly I think you are, I think with your control you'll have no problem at all. You just have to trust yourself. And trust me. I'll tell you when to stop, just a tap on the shoulder and you'll pull back. You'll do that because I'll be with you, You're safe, and no one will die tonight."

Taking a deep breath, Caroline nodded and slipped away from Klaus and into the crowd. She could do this. She had fed from the nurse that first night and she hadn’t died. The man at the carnival had been in the wrong place at the wrong time and she hadn’t fed in hours. And having just been turned that was too long to go between feeds with the smell of fresh blood permeating the air.

Caroline moved through the crowd, smiling enticingly at the girl whose entire expression seemed to brighten up as Caroline moved toward her. She couldn’t help but look out of her peripheral vision for where Klaus was, needing to make sure he was nearby, even as she started dancing with the girl. She had danced with Elena and Bonnie before, with other girlfriends at various dances, at the Falls. She was pretty sure she knew exactly how the other girl was expecting her to move and easily stepped into the part.

“Be compliant and don’t make a sound,” Caroline compelled, smiling at the girl who looked at her with confusion before her eyes seemed to gloss over in acceptance. Caroline let her fangs descend, burying them into the girl’s neck as she drank, trying to focus in on the girl’s heartbeat through all the music and movement, trying not to get lost in the sensations and go too far, hopeful Klaus would remind her when she needed to stop.

He couldn't take his eyes of her. She had wanted this, even if she hadn't admitted it to herself, the darker desires she had never really believed she could control. She wasn't a Ripper, she had more control than most, especially one so young and she should never have had to hide her nature, especially not from herself. She drank, and Klaus watched her, dark eyes following every movement she made, the compulsion taking hold easily.

He gave her a little time, letting her drink, letting her indulge herself, listening to the heartbeat of the girl, still strong, still focused, and he moved closer to the pair, before he joined her in the feed, just taking a little, just enough so he could meet her gaze. And then he knew they were reaching the point of no return. "Come on love, that's enough now." he told her firmly. "Plenty more where she came from."

He was ready to compel the girl if he had to, ready to pull Caroline away if he must. But he trusted her. More than that he trusted her control.

Watching Klaus drink with her was almost hypnotizing. Was it supposed to be this sensual, sharing someone between the two of them? Caroline didn’t know, but when his gaze met hers, she couldn’t help the desire that seemed to shoot straight through her. He was speaking though, telling her it was time to stop, and so she did, breathless as she looked at the dazed girl.

“You’re going to go back to your friends, not remembering either of us or what just happened. Have a great night and when you see the marks just think you must have gotten a little kinky on the dance floor,” she compelled the girl before slipping away from her.

Caroline slid up to Klaus, moving to the steady beat of the music as she pressed her body against his. “You’ve got a little something right here,” she told him, reaching up to wipe a trickle of blood from his lips and then licked it off her finger.

She was probably supposed to be feeling bad now, worried over the girl’s well-being, but a quick glance had shown the girl heading back to her friends, moving to dance again. Caroline’s head was spinning, bloodlust and just regular old lust wanting to be fulfilled.

That control. He sometimes could hardly believe how quickly she took to it, how quickly she had embraced what she was. Her compulsion was incredible, her control far beyond her years. He'd spoken and she'd listened and not through the compulsion of an Original, simply through her own strength, in spite of the bloodlust. He watched the girl go, a little weak on her feet perhaps but no worse for wear.

"Perfect." he told her. "And you were worried you wouldn't be able to stop yourself. There's a world of them out there, people like her, and then of course there are the ones that like it, though you have to be careful with them, sometimes they get a little...too attached."

She slid into his embrace wiping blood from his lips and Klaus pulled her into a kiss knowing full well just how much it would mean to her right now, a place like this, sated as she was with the blood of that girl, oh and he'd seen how she'd reacted when he'd joined her.

"You can have anyone. You do realise that, you don't have to be like me, you can still care for them, but you're no Ripper. You have a level of control it takes decades, maybe centuries to learn and you have the world at your feet. You just have to take it."

"I don't know. That was only one try and I only stopped because you said to. If I had been by myself she would probably be dead now. I stopped listening to her heartbeat." She had gotten too caught up in the feed, in all the sensations that had gone with it. In watching him. Thankfully the girl was fine and he had been there. Maybe with practice she would be able to do it on her own, to remember to listen and stop by herself. It wasn't something she wanted to chance though. Not yet.

She leaned into the kiss, giving back as good as she received, unable to stop herself from deepening it. She could taste the girl's blood on his lips and her eyes darkened at that, body pressing eagerly against his. She couldn't seem to get enough of him in that moment,

"Are we going to do it again?" Caroline tried not to look too eager at the idea.

God she was intoxicating. And he was oh so proud of her. Of the fact she'd taken the chance. Listened to him, learned from him. She truly was wonderful. And when she kissed him, blood still on her lips it was all he could do not to drag her into a darkened corner. There would be time for that later of course.

For now there was still much to teach her, she was worried, even now, worried she couldn't stop. She'd had her one try, yes. One try that had gone well. "But you did stop. Many would not have. I had plans in place in case you couldn't overcome the blood but you did. I asked and you stopped. Next time focus on the heartbeat. Listen until it beats faster with fear, working harder to ensure blood flows, and then it will slow, just marginally. Its then you stop. Its then you walk away. And there will always be more blood."

She wanted to try again. Of course she did.

"Yes of course, you didn't think I'd insist we stop at one, did you? Go on, look around, find someone."

Caroline reluctantly pulled away from Klaus’ embrace. As much as she wanted more blood, she was pretty damn content being in his arms on the dance floor, hearing a hundred plus heartbeats beating around them. But she knew that the sooner she fed again, the sooner he would most likely join in and they could repeat this little dance together. So she scanned the crowd, looking for someone else to feed from.

It didn’t take her long to find a guy blatantly checking her out, giving her a look that was definitely trying to entice her his way. She wasn’t sure how Klaus would react to him, but it was just feeding, so it shouldn’t really be a big deal, right? “Found one,” Caroline murmured to Klaus before slipping completely away from him and heading toward the young man.

The pick up lines were atrocious as they started to dance together, but she faked a laugh, let him pull her closer, no doubt he was thinking he actually stood a chance with her. It was insanely powerful knowing she had that kind of hold over someone and she hadn’t even used compulsion yet.

“Okay, seriously, one, put your hand on my ass again and I’m going to rip it off. And two, be compliant and don’t make a damn sound,” she compelled, pleased when the hand moved up to her back instead.

Well, seemed he was listening, so she let herself bite into the guy’s neck, closing her eyes as soon as she tasted his blood.

He'd watched her go, watched her choose the man, watched her dance with him, the man pulling her closer, touching her...He could just let him die. Just let her drink and drink. He could get them out, he could make certain she never realised what she'd done but the man who had touched her like that would be dead.

Of course she would discover it. And she'd never forgive him.

When he joined her he was decidedly less gentle than he'd been with the woman. Frankly this one, he wanted to compel himself. He drank, this time waiting that little bit longer for Caroline, waiting to see if she'd pull away. Waiting to see if she would overcome the bloodlust. Oh he'd stop her. But should they leave this man with a severe case of anemia he wouldn't shed a tear. No one touched her like that, no one but him. His eyes shifted just for a moment to those of the Hybrid he was but he said nothing, did nothing but drink. And wait.

He was still debating coming back later and ripping his throat out. But for now the man was lucky enough to be allowed to live.

Caroline forced herself to focus on the man's heartbeat, hearing it speed up, and took just a tiny bit more blood before she forced herself to stop feeding. She was panting from the effort it took, watching the dazed man for a second before she caught Klaus' gaze. She saw that tiny of the Hybrid in him coming to the surface and could only imagine what was going through his mind.

"Forget everything that just happened and seriously don't grope girls on the dance floor like that ever again," she told the man, easily slipping away from him and reaching for Klaus.

Maybe she would stick to drinking from women when she was out with him.

Caroline didn't hesitate, went straight in for a brushing kiss, wanting nothing more than for Klaus to help get the traces of the man off of her and replace it with himself instead.

She'd done it. Alone, the man only slightly dazed and gone before Klaus could contemplate the myriad of interesting ways he wanted to evicerate him. Oh had it been any other woman in the place he could have cared less, but her? His Caroline. It brought the Hybrid to the fore, and Caroline kissing him, asserting that she was with him, it helped. He gazed down at her, eyes still bearing a trace of his true nature.

"Perfect example." he said once the kiss broke away. "Him, I'd have killed in a heartbeat. But you, the control you have. You should be proud love." he told her, wrapping his arms around her as she swayed to the music. "How about this time I pick." he said with more than a hint of that same possessiveness. He pulled her closer to him kissing her deeply before moving just a ways away. Into the crowd, knowing she'd follow.

He glanced around with the practiced eye of a thousand years of preying on humanity and quickly found one. Bubbly vivacious looking girl, hair some unnatural shade of red. Caught her eye, just a few whispered words of compulsion and he had her.

"You're lucky you know." he muttered softly, fangs decending. "Girl like you, you wouldn't surrvive a meeting with me. There's nothing to you, nothing of substance, is there? Lucky she's here really." He drank, waiting for Caroline to find him, and knowing of course that she would.

Caroline heard his words to the girl and knew he meant it. If she hadn't been there, if she hadn't wanted him not to kill when they did drink from humans, the girl would be dead. There was a time that might have made her angry, annoyed he didn't not kill for himself, but she had long figured out that he didn't see humans the way she did. To Klaus they truly were just food, a means to an end. She didn't really like that mindset but it was one he had been cultivating for nearly 1000 years and she had meant it when she had told him she didn't want to change him all those weeks back.

She watched him feed for a few seconds before joining in, though her bloodlust was waning, good old regular lust wanting to be fulfilled instead. Caroline pulled back, not even bothering to listen for a heartbeat, licking her lips as she watched Klaus drink.

"I'm all good now. Unless you really want more. I'd rather be enjoying some dark corner in here with just you."

He wanted more. He really did relish the kill and he had denied himself that for her sake, as he'd said, he could have killed the girl, normally would have too, but he pulled back from his victim, turning her face toward him and spoke softly but firmly. "You'll remember only that you danced but lost out to someone vastly superior to you." Really he couldn't help it, who said compulsions had to be nice. "Run along now" he told her turning back to Caroline, promises of a dark and shadowy corner and all.

He pulled her toward him once the girl was out of the way.

"I wouldn't say no to that. But you should be proud, You've done well, amazingly well in fact. You've mastered what I've seen take weeks of trial and error in just one night. Tell me what you want and I'll ensure you have it, even if it is just a dark corner in a club." he added amused pulling her into a kiss, he didn't much care for the music, but the lights, the dark and seductive atmosphere of the club reminded him of New Orleans. And god, he wanted to show it to her.

"I'd give you the world if I thought for a minute you'd accept it."

“I doubt its mastered,” Caroline told him, still worried what would happen if she was alone and tried it. Having him there helped her feel strong enough to be able to even try it and maybe her control freak tendencies helped her get better control than others at times, but she still wasn’t going to chance feeding by herself. Not yet anyway. She’d stick to blood bags and hunting animals until Klaus wanted to go out again. Not that she thought it’d be long for him to want to bring her out again to feed.

“I don’t need the world. I mean, it’s a nice thought and all, and I want to see it. I want experience all it has to offer, but I don’t need that.” Though she did know he was telling her the truth. Klaus would give her anything she wanted and sometimes she didn’t even have to ask, sometimes he knew what she needed before even she did.

As for what she wanted then though. “I want you,” Caroline told him, tugging on his necklaces to draw him even closer to her. “I don’t really care where. All I know is I want you to push me up against some wall, make my toes curl with what you do, and have me screaming your name as I forget the rest of the world around us.”

Caroline pulled back slightly with a teasing smile. “If you’re up for that.”

She was still worried, but that was okay. He'd just have to take her to places like this more frequently, practice would make perfect and all that. She'd done so well though, and he wondered just what she would be capable of, a couple of decades, a century or two behind her and nothing would stop this woman from having whatever she set her mind to. "Oh I know, I know you'll see the world. I promised to show it to you didn't I, a world of new experiences, new challenges. You may not want it, but I do...you know that, and I want you with me. But there's time for that, there's time for all of that."

He knew she'd be his weakness, he'd accepted that but he supposed she could be a strength in her own way too.

Like, for example saying the things she did, whispering that she wanted him, she was a dammed tease and he loved every second of it. Without another word, for none were needed. Klaus led her through the dancing revelers, over to a dark corner like the one she was so fond of discussing and as she had asked pushed her back against the wall there, stepping in possessively, one hand on either side of her. Perhaps with anyone else it would seem controlling but not to her.

"This good enough for you love?" he asked, moving to kiss her before she got a chance to answer.

Caroline blocked out everything else, focusing solely on the kiss, on how she was pressed to the wall, Klaus towering over her. Anyone else might have felt fear having the Hybrid do that to them, but it only brought about an overwhelming need to rip Klaus’ clothes off for her, desire pooling in her stomach. She wrapped one hand around the nape of his neck, trying to draw him closer, deciding he was too far away even though he was right there. Caroline didn’t think she would ever get enough of him.

“What would you even do with the whole world?” she asked ending the kiss, sliding her hands under his shirt so she could touch skin.

She wondered if in time he would get her wanting it too. After all, she never thought she would deliberately feed from humans and look at how tonight had gone? She was still wary of the process, concerned she would hurt someone, but god, it had been amazing. It had been everything she had craved and Caroline knew she would keep on doing it if she could make sure no one got hurt in the process. And if Klaus was with her she truly did trust him not to let her go over that edge.

Having her like this, blocking her in, Klaus couldn't think of anything he would enjoy more. The kiss deepened, every part of him screaming just to take her, just to have her right there in the corner of the club. And her words weren't hurting, what would he do with the whole world. Frankly what wouldn't he do, what wasn't he capable of?

"I expect you know what I'd do with the world." he said not bothering to hide the smirk that crossed his face at the idea, or maybe that was just at her touch, either way, it was intoxicating, she was intoxicating, and she was his. A fact he would never tire of. Even if he could have the world, even if he could somehow be king of all he surveyed. Without her he expected it would be hollow, pointless.

"I'd have you with me of course, my Queen, I think you'd like that though wouldn't you, apiring and inspiring and all, as I recall you make quite the career out of such things"

He didn't want to make her anything other than she was, bringing her here having her feed, that was different, those were things she needed to understand how to do. He would never ask her to kill, he would never ask her to betray her friends. He wasn't making her like him, not really, but he could give her ambition, he could give her her hearts darkest desires, her pure heart had been drawn to the darkness and he would never let her free now.

"All you'd have to do is ask Caroline, and you could have it all." he whispered, sliding his hands up against her hips and under her top.

His words were intoxicating, pulling at deeply hidden longings she could barely even give name to let alone speak out loud about. How did he see to the very heart of her? To the deep recesses of her inner soul? She had dreamed of being a princess when she was little--but didn’t most little girls? It was the whole Disney phase. All of her friends had gone through it, each choosing their favorite Disney princess. Caroline had loved them all though, all for different reasons. Each one holding out some ideal she strove towards.

But she couldn’t deny that the thought of that much power simultaneously elated and scared the hell out of her. “Maybe in a century,” she breathed out, allowing herself to say that much as his hands touched her skin. “Maybe then I’ll be ready to be this Queen that you apparently see me as, but I don’t want any of that right now. I don’t need it.”

She rested her forehead against his, keeping her gaze locked with his. “All I want right now--and not just because my emotions are so freaking on overload right now because of the bloodlust--is you. To live my life with you. To get to know all of you. For you to know all of me. And trips. I really like when we go on trips.”

After all, he did offer to show her the world.

That was why he kept offering her the world. Because on some level. In some part of herself that she couldn't hide, Caroline wanted it, wanted to be royalty. And she deserved to be. She was perfect, and perhaps she didn't want it right now but in time, what was a century to them. "Hard for you to admit even that wasn't it." he told her, resting his head against hers even as his hands explored her. "Or maybe it was easier than you expected hm?"

Right now though she wanted to get to know him, to share her life with him, and that of course he could give her.

"I'm going to bring you to New Orleans, and alright its not my New Orleans, but its still a city like no other. We'll go there soon, you and me, ignore the world just for a while. The most beautiful and wonderful place in the world and its practicly on our doorstep. As for knowing me, I think that you do, better than most. I think you understand me Caroline."

Caroline couldn't help but grin, couldn't help but lean forward just that bit more and kiss him again. It hadn't taken as much as it should have to admit what she wanted, what she was able to admit at this time. Maybe she wasn't changing for him but she was definitely growing. Was this what growing up was? She had feeling it was and it wasn't as scary as she thought it might be.

"I want to see it with you. I want you to tell me all about it, even if this one isn't yours. I want you to share your stories and share all that culture and history. I just want to know it all." Every little last piece of him, of what he knew, what he loved.

"And maybe I do better than most, but you know me better than most. Better than myself at times. I think you understand me too, the parts of me that I don't even understand yet." She pulled back a little, still smiling. "Can we go home now? As much as I'd love you taking me right here, right now, I want our bed. And I'd like to enjoy you until the sun comes up."

He couldn't help but laugh at that, sharing his stories. Oh he'd do it, quite willingly. "My stories aren't always the most pleasant love, but then you know that. As I've always said, to you I'm an open book, no secrets, not from you. So I'll tell you my stories, and I'll show you the world, I'll show you everything and I'll teach you how to truly live." He had always wanted that for her, the world at her feet, every blessed opportunity that she now had. "You'll love New Orleans, the music, the culture, I'm assuming this world also has witches but we can ignore that side of things, usually better off that way."

He supposed he did understand her, the sides of herself she couldn't quite come to terms with. His beautiful Caroline.

"We can go home" he told her, pulling her into one last kiss before wrapping an arm protectively around her and leading her out toward the door. "I expect I can be far more creative in the comfort of our own surroundings. Of course you could have had one and then the other, have you worked it out yet, that there truly is nothing I wouldn't do for you." He supposed it scared her to know that too, that on some level she could have the world, she need only ask for it.

It did scare her a bit to know exactly how much he cared about her, just how deeply his love ran. Not that hers wasn’t as deep, not that she didn’t love him just as fiercely, but the fact was he truly could give her the world if she asked for it. If she asked for anything, Caroline knew he could deliver it, would want to deliver it to her, and that kind of power was a bit daunting for her nineteen year old self.

“I know there’s not,” she murmured, leaning into him as they walked. “And I hope you realize that I’m willing to learn about who I am now, what I am now because of you. Because I can trust you not to let me fall.” All of those aspects of being a vampire that she had tried so hard to keep under lock and key, frightened of the outcome if she didn’t.

She no longer feared it though, or at least didn’t fear it as much as she had before, and definitely trusted him to look out for her sanity as she ventured down the road of truly accepting what she had become. “And maybe I could have had both, but I’d really rather you be extra creative at home tonight," she told him, pressing a kiss to his cheek.
