It did scare her a bit to know exactly how much he cared about her, just how deeply his love ran. Not that hers wasn’t as deep, not that she didn’t love him just as fiercely, but the fact was he truly could give her the world if she asked for it. If she asked for anything, Caroline knew he could deliver it, would want to deliver it to her, and that kind of power was a bit daunting for her nineteen year old self.
“I know there’s not,” she murmured, leaning into him as they walked. “And I hope you realize that I’m willing to learn about who I am now, what I am now because of you. Because I can trust you not to let me fall.” All of those aspects of being a vampire that she had tried so hard to keep under lock and key, frightened of the outcome if she didn’t.
