One may notice an agitated young woman wandering in a circle near the sign, rambling to herself. She looks a mite odd, what with the contrast of silvery scale mail, shield, and short lance with her more modern clothing, rifle, and pistol, and the irritated mumbling doesn't exactly help the image. After a few minutes she finally the turns irately toward the crowd and throws her arms wide.

"So where the hell is the freaking instruction leaflet for this crap?!"

Amends to the dead [Apr. 13th, 2010|09:04 pm]

There's a new Edward Elric in the Nexus. Yes, another one. This one stands about 5'10" and looks like he lost a lot of the muscle mass Edwards are known for. He looks outright average, actually.

He's sitting on one of the benches, legs tucked up to his chest, chewing on his lips before he speaks up quietly. "How do you go about making amends to the dead?"

Shopping for answers [Apr. 7th, 2010|12:55 am]

The Nexus was a nice place. It wasn't easy to afford some of the prices set, but there were paints available which were like nothing she could find at home. Those special editions of her pottery sold for very steep prices, more than enough to turn a profit off the initial costs.

And while she was here, why not a trip to the sign? No, she wasn't looking for someone, hoping to see someone. It had been so long, she really had no actual hope. Just a chilled fragment of a ghost that faded out in a whisper of expected disappointment as she arrived and looked around.

A question. There were a few she had on her mind, but really, most weren't worth asking. Where did he go? What if it was intentional? What if she'd misread him all along... which wouldn't be the first time she'd misread someone. No, if he did still come around, it wouldn't get back to him that it bothered her.

"I've heard a saying recently. 'The road to truth is long, and lined the entire way with annoying bastards'," Filia began. "Do you have any annoying bastards in your life that you simply cannot shake for anything? What in the world possesses them to hound your every step, to appear at the worst possible times, to make a nuisance of themselves? And everything about them is the embodiment of pure evil? And what if, despite that, they're counted in the very tiny ranks of people who seem to have been truly honest with you?"

Amatter of time [Apr. 5th, 2010|10:59 pm]

[Current Mood |contemplative]

Fujin had been sitting out by the sign most of the...day? Week? however long she'd been here this time. Weather hadn't seemed to change much, which made hanging out by the sign rather pleasant, but sometimes she wished for a good storm. Storms were loud and chaotic, and somehow comforting.

Looking for something to do, she took out some poster board and wrote a question on one.
If someone offered you the chance to change something horrible in your past would you do it? Would you do it if you knew that chance could go wrong and undo time itself?"

she set the poster board up next to her and took out a smaller tablet of paper and started to draw.

((mun is heading home, more in about an hour))

Okay, what Ran was expecting when he walked into the precinct's doors? Not what he was currently seeing. He expected an elevator ride up to the lab, to get the shakedown on anything he hadn't already been called about, and go back to processing evidence, examining trace, a normal day's work after the last few weeks of playing psychologist-slash-English-teacher to an extremely fucked up teenage victim of a human trafficking ring.

A normal day's work (usually) didn't involve wondering just how Danny Messer had slipped acid into his morning tea without him noticing, especially since they didn't live in the same building or indeed even in the same neighborhood (Ran wasn't even sure Danny knew where he lived,) or a neon sign so obnoxiously bright and close it almost made his glasses darken. And Ran lived in New York City, had lived in Tokyo before that, he was used to bright neon. Just not. Right in his face.

"...a question."

Fine, he'll bite. He's been wondering about this anyway.

"...how would you deal with suddenly finding yourself the caretaker of a teenager with PTSD and a language barrier?" He can deal with this in a professional capacity, but he's painfully aware that this will require a more personal approach.

Two Questions about Opinions [Mar. 25th, 2010|05:10 pm]

[Current Mood |amused]

Aion is standing by the Sign. Perched on the sign is a large bald eagle with eyes that are an unusual color--bright red. "Have you ever had a conversation where the other party expected you to immediately change your world view because they believed that their world view was the correct one?" This question might seem extremely slightly ironic to those who know Aion and some of his more stringent opinions.

"And for a second question, have you ever suspected that most of a subordinate's critiques of your behavior actually boils down to, 'Master needs to get laid'?"

First Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye debated for nearly a half an hour about speaking up, staring at the sign from a healthy distance as she argued with herself. But it was either time to speak up, or time to go home, and that option made her finally decide to ask what was on her mind.

"Have you ever been in a situation where you were a party to causing a great deal of harm to someone else, someone who did nothing to deserve what happened to them, and you were in a position where stopping it from happening was not an option, but you're still just as guilty as everyone else involved?"

Questions About Travel [Mar. 24th, 2010|05:44 pm]

Florette is watching travel shows on a nearby Nexus monitor, while thumbing through future back issues of Better Home and Gardens and Gourmet that had been left scattered on a nearby coffee table. "Where would you like to visit, if you were able to go there?" she asks after a while. "And is there any place you'd like to visit again?"

Trisha is sitting on one of the benches by the sign, listening to the hustle and bustle of the Nexus. It's a long time before she finally speaks up with her question. "How do you face making a difficult decision?"

Returning to the nexus [Mar. 21st, 2010|10:16 pm]

[Current Mood |hopeful]

Fujin wasn't really sure how long she'd been away from the Nexus. Time's a strange thing after all, especially when there are sorceresses involved. The place looked different then what she remembered. She looked around recognizing a few people and thought about going to say hello to them.

Then she remembered where she was. This was the Nexus, of course there would be someone she recognized, maybe even a few of the same someones. This place was like that after all. The real question was would there be anyone here who still remembered her? And how would they know it was the same her that had been there before if they followed the same line of thought she herself just had. Damn this place was screwy.

She walked over to the most familiar thing there, the great big sign directing people to ask a question. She rather liked the sign. It was very much like herself- direct and to the point. Of course last time she had been here she had managed to find some paper and a pen. She felt her pockets and sighed. No such luck.

How do you manage to ask a decent question when you can only get out, at most, a couple words at a time. Well, everything she knew was gone now. So she should probably start with finding some of the basics.

"FOOD. WHERE?"
