Here is a young woman who has been wandering up and down streets for some time now. She is doing her best to appear inconspicuous and nonchalant, with limited success. It probably does not help that she is exuding nervousness and paranoia; head low, hat pulled down, eyes darting back and forth behind the glasses that she doesn't actually need.

When the sign catches her eye, she stares for a long moment, trying to figure out what it's advertising. Detergent, maybe? Insurance? Religion? All that viral marketing stuff is lost on her, she supposes.

There is a question that nags at the back of her mind, the same one she asks herself every morning, but she doesn't see any point in saying it out loud. Instead, she asks: "What are you selling?"

Nexus, say hello to a palm tree. [Jul. 24th, 2010|07:14 pm]

A confused young man walks into the Nexus main area, looking slightly out of sorts. He looks around and sees the big sign, and thinks that's the last thing he wants to do- ask a question.

But it seems there isn't much choice, so he fumbles around in his brain for a minute and then smoothes back his long green hair, trying to appear poised.

"Have you ever, in your life, found yourself lower than you'd thought possible? If so, how did you survive?"

Shopping for answers [Apr. 7th, 2010|12:55 am]

The Nexus was a nice place. It wasn't easy to afford some of the prices set, but there were paints available which were like nothing she could find at home. Those special editions of her pottery sold for very steep prices, more than enough to turn a profit off the initial costs.

And while she was here, why not a trip to the sign? No, she wasn't looking for someone, hoping to see someone. It had been so long, she really had no actual hope. Just a chilled fragment of a ghost that faded out in a whisper of expected disappointment as she arrived and looked around.

A question. There were a few she had on her mind, but really, most weren't worth asking. Where did he go? What if it was intentional? What if she'd misread him all along... which wouldn't be the first time she'd misread someone. No, if he did still come around, it wouldn't get back to him that it bothered her.

"I've heard a saying recently. 'The road to truth is long, and lined the entire way with annoying bastards'," Filia began. "Do you have any annoying bastards in your life that you simply cannot shake for anything? What in the world possesses them to hound your every step, to appear at the worst possible times, to make a nuisance of themselves? And everything about them is the embodiment of pure evil? And what if, despite that, they're counted in the very tiny ranks of people who seem to have been truly honest with you?"

Who is this mysterious redhead? [Nov. 29th, 2009|06:29 pm]

There's a redheaded woman approaching the sign, a little red wagon in tow. The wagon is laden down with drinks of all sorts- beer, sodas, bottles of harder stuff, even some juices. Anyone with a sensitive nose and a familiarity with homunculii will be able to tell she's a homunculus, but there's nothing in her behavior or facial expressions that suggests someone in particular, and Envy was hardly the only homunculus who could alter his form.

Looks like a new homunculus in town. Of course, you normal humans won't notice a thing except that this lady really likes her drinks, and looks like she needs to gain about twenty pounds. She dresses like your typical barfly, and she's got an impish smile that suggests she giggled longer than fifteen seconds over whatever she's up to.

The wagon seems to be giving her a little bit of trouble, but not too much. Finally, she pulls it up next to the sign and grabs a stool, perching on it. "So what's your favorite drink?" she asks, still grinning. She grabs a Mike's Hard Lemonade from the wagon and opens it, taking a sip. "You're all welcome to something."

((OOC Note: This really is Envy, yes. He has found a new constant disguise that he wants to abuse for evil. However, no, your character can't tell it's Envy. :P And the drinks are LOL'd. Prepare to have a character sparkling like a certain failvamp from a certain book series that may or may not be called Twilight. As per usual, LOL is voluntary for the muns and the drink could end up doing absolutely nothing if you want to answer but not be LOL'd.))

For Sale [Aug. 5th, 2009|09:33 pm]

There is a horse and small cart in the Nexus. The horse is a rather placid mare, whose halter has been tied to a nearby post and was enjoying some feed left out for her. The cart had been unharnessed from the horse, and a young woman, in her early twenties and dressed in a dress that makes her look like an extra in 'Little House on the Prairie', sat in it with a baby in her lap. In front of her was a selection of packets and jars, as well as bundles of dried and fresh herbs. A sign attached to the cart said "Fresh Herbs and Medicines: Hard Currency and Barter Accepted".

"So this was the place Dag was telling me about. It doesn't look that different yet, except for the sign. I wonder how they make the sign glow like that."

(OOC: Everything's safe. Most of the medicines are for OTC type complaints (painkiller, anti-nausea, upset stomach, etc.). Someone with any sort of extra senses might catch the hint of magic, and a herbalist using them might notice that the herbs are unusually potent and regular in active ingredient content and the side effects less severe.)
