Community Rules

This comm is open to anyone to post codes, layouts, resources, tutorials, and requests for help and content. Of course, we do have some rules, so please read through them before jumping in; thank you!

■ Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. This is not a drama comm, and we expect you guys to be awesome and stay civil. If a situation gets out of hand, please contact a mod, and leave comments intact so we can accurately handle the situation.

■ Please tag your posts and check out the tagging guide if you have any questions!

■ Very long posts or posts formatted with your own div styling for organization should be behind a cut to save people's f-lists.

■ Work safe above the cut, please!

■ If posting codes, guides, etc. absolutely do not post content that you did not make. That's stealing, and it's super uncool, bro! If you are posting expanded/edited codes made by yourself using another user's coding as well, please be sure you have their permission (You do not need direct permission if they allow edits to be re-posted in their blanket rules.)

■ Do not post tutorials/links to tutorials that show people how to steal codes from other users. Again: Stealing. Not cool.

■ When asking for help with something, please check the help tags (help: coding, help: graphics, help: icons, help: layouts, help: other) first to see if your question has already been posted and answered to avoid duplicates.

■ We do not allow game ads to be posted on this comm since there are so many communities specifically for that already; if you're pimping a game as an addition to a regular post, that's fine. (OK: You post an RP code and mention in the post, oh hey, also I'm running this game! NOT OK: Posts dedicated to game promo.)

■ We do allow other types of community promos if they are related to RP (icon comms, other types of resource comms, etc.) Just shoot us a comment in our dropbox beforehand and we'll let you know if it's cool to post!

It's sort of a point of pride for me to be able to figure out codes within a layout (ie, what to tweak and what not to tweak), but I really have to admit that the S1 Generator layout always has me a bit stumped because of all those nested tables, :\. Currently, I am using this layout from LiveJournal at

lonewolfcub and, at the moment, it looks like this. My aim is to have it look this way if at all possible. If it's not possible, can I at least get it so the navigation links are centered? And if I can do that, what part of the code should I be editing?

I am currently losing my mind. I fought with this code all night last night and I still didn't figure it out. So I come for assistance.

I can post the raw code if needed, but essentially I am looking to get the journal name centered under the icon (I figured out the community code), and was wondering about getting a border around the icons. I swear there was something else, but cannot think of what it was now. Shows just how annoyed I was at 1am when I had to be up at 6:45am.

So, I'm not sure if I'm asking this right, and I'm sorry if it's been asked before and I'm just missing it while browsing through tags -- how do you use css animations/transitions? Specifically, I want the image to the right in this journal to slide down when hovered over by mouse. I can find various code for the animation itself, but I am not sure where to put/how to add it to the layout.

I have searched high and low but can not find the solution to my problem. On the friends page, when someone disables their comments, the icon/journalname/etc hangs past the entry box. The same goes for my fake cut tag font in my own entries.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I'm having no luck finding the answer that I'm looking for elsewhere. So apologies ahead of time if this is addressed some place else and I merely overlooked the answer.

I coded an S1 layout from scratch (god help me), but I'm having trouble with the skip links. Right now I have them situated at the bottom of the page, but I was wondering if its at all possible to put them next to your talk links in an entry. (I have to apologize if I'm not using the correct terminology—I know just enough to get LJ/IJ to do what I want and that's about it.)

I've included a picture to show you what I mean: ( pic beneath the cut )

From a design standpoint, I'd like to keep the bottom of the page clean-looking, and would really like that bottom border gone.

If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful. Thanks so much!

does anyone know the code or how to hide the friend's icons when you hit the 'my friends' button? or make the icons smaller, so everything is aligned. ALSO (this is my last edit) how do you get the banner on the homepage of a layout to stay on the friends page? i haven't figured out that one either..

Hey guys! I'm trying to tweak this layout for a character of mine, and I'm running into a few things I'm not sure how to deal with, so I'm crossing my fingers that you guys can help! If you'd like the coding I'm using on my journal or the coding for the journal I linked up there, let me know and I'll be happy to provide it! Thank you so much in advance!!

1.) Is there a way to give the friends page icons their own background? Instead of the white that you see, have it match your page's background or something like that?

2.) How do I make the gifs, when hovered over, not fade (and bonus points if that applies to all images, period, since most of them seem to do that)?

3.) How do I make the calendar view not show the navigation stuff (the entries|friends|calendar at the top right and website/userinfo/calendar in the top middle)? It seems like it would be possible, but I can't figure out what I'd need to tweak to make it work.

4.) If there's no way to make #3 happen, is there a way to make my tags page be something other than that ugly blue and white default? Like, say, match my layout?

Hopefully this makes some type of sense to someone! So, I've been trying to tweak the codes of a certain layout and whenever I do, I clear out the colors, add in a website, and add in the codes and something always messes up, so there must be something I'm missing. Has anyone had this problem before/know what I'm talking about? I've looked up other tutorials too and even that didn't help. I'd appreciate any help!
