The Daily Prophet signified temptation to Ginny.

She walked passed a wizarding shop everyday on her way to work. It had taken her a while to realise it and the only reason she had was because Vera had once looked at her like she was crazy when she had asked the other woman why a lot of people just seemed to walk passed it as if it wasn't there. The next day she had walked inside, just to see if her suspicions were right, and had walked out when they were confirmed. Since then, she had tried to avoid looking at it but the Prophet was always displayed so prominently, the stands in front of the shop- which she could not quite believe no Muggle ever noticed- and sometimes she bought one, money pushed into the shop cashier's hand quickly just before she rushed out, trying to convince herself she wouldn't do it again. She rarely read it, of course, usually contemplating doing so before throwing it out in the bin around the corner.

Maybe it was because she'd looked at the back pages, the sports ones, just out of curiosity that she had actually read a few of the articles. She liked to think it was, anyway, that that was the only reason that she had flipped to the page mentioned, eyes scanning the words. A smile quirked her lips slightly.

Later, Ginny would wonder why she did not send message ahead and then she remembered- she did not have an owl, did not own anything that could have got word to him. Only her wand could possibly have and that was shoved into an old shoebox in her wardrobe at home. Instead, she caught the train, telling herself that it was for a shopping trip and making sure she indulged in one first before arriving at the address the newspaper had printed, plastic bags bumping off her legs. She always had to buy cheap clothes when she felt guilty.

"I'd like to see Viktor Krum, please," Ginny said to the receptionist, giving the woman her best friendly smile.

Who: Euphemia Borage and Brandon Callenour
Where: Euphemia's flat
When: Monday night (BACKDATED)
What: Euphemia has a conversation with her fiancee about his behavior.
Rating: PG at best

"Here," Brandon said, tossing her a necklace made of shells. Euphemia made no move to catch it, her hands folded in her lap as she glanced up at him, brown eyes cold. He sighed in exasperation as he flopped down on the couch besides her, his face wrinkling. "Oh, come on. It's not as bad as all that."

The future yawned out before her... )
