Susan stood in the doorway of the curry house, one foot inside and the other out, a cigarette held loosely between her fingers. The street was busy, people moving in a seemingly endless flow past her though most of them seemed determined to avoid the Indian restaurant, instead sticking to the greasy fast food burger shops across the street or spending their time pawing at the clothes racks in front of shops. From where she stood in the past twenty-five minutes she was positive she'd seen at least four teenagers grab stuff from the outside racks and shove them into their pockets or bags. Only one of them had had an attack of conscience and set it back- two others had been stunned and the hitwizards called.

Saturday's were always busy days.

Lifting her cigarette to her lips and taking a long drag, she turned to say something to Faiza only to hear the woman squeal at her, "Sue, you smoke that in here and I will kill you."

"I'm not fucking smoking it in here," Sue said, scowling and she flicked the ash off her cigarette, unmindful of the people passing by her. Fai glared at her and she sighed heavily, turning around, a slightly annoyed expression on her face as she lifted her arm, hunting in her bag for the cigarette packet.
