News traveled fast in a carnival, especially a good bit of juicy gossip, so it wasn't surprising when Vlad heard from one of the girls that Doc Wheeler had killed that preacher for poisoning Madison. When he'd finished hi appointment, Vlad had run by the med tent and peeked in. Luc was there, tending Madison and he looked a little roughed up, but surely he hadn't killed the preacher.

A bit more checking around revealed that no, the preacher was alive if also roughed up. That was good. Vlad didn't think Luc really had it in him to kill someone. A bit more checking around and Vlad acquired a bottle of scotch.

It was much, much later after the shows and when the towns folk had left that Vlad walked across the ground, bottle tucked into his coat. He stopped at Luc's door and started to just leave the bottle, but something stopped him. The lights were on. He knew Luc was up. What if...what if they actually talked. With a determined expression, Vlad knocked lightly on Luc's door.

Vlad had labored over the letter for hours, trying to produce a mistake proof copy that said what he wanted and that placed the blame squarely on his own shoulders. That done, he put it in an envelop and sealed it. Finding Luc was easy enough as Vlad went straight to the Medtent, waiting for Luc to be free then walked up and handed him the envelope. He didn't say a word or even really meet Luce's gaze as Luc took it, just turned and left the tent as quietly as he'd come.

Vlad had the towels in the warmer over a box of cooling wood coals, Evelyn's hair had been done for the evening performance and now it was the chance for anyone that wanted a shave or trim to come by before the show started. As he waited, he drew the straight blade of his razor over the leather strop with a distinctive sound. Vlad had to admit to enjoying doing shaves. There was something very relaxing about the scent of the soap and the heat of the towels and he prided himself on never having nicked a customer.

When he saw Gil approaching, Vlad smiled and checked his blade. "Mr. Godwin. It's a pleasure to finally meet you."
