Day 305 : MISTLETOE BOT MINGLE
[You won't hear them coming. You won't see their snare. The mistletoe bots are out and they're hunting you, two by two. You can run and you can hide, but eventually you will be caught, and then there's nothing left to do but kiss your way out!

Chapstick stations will be available.]

[Carol is going about her usual routine. It's good to have routines. A jog through the park, a bit of workout and training down at the athletic center, shopping, out to lunch... The announcement mentioned some kind of a tradition, but as she sets off running, she sees nothing out of the usual. Huh.]

[At this point Ianto has survived rnough of these things to stop worrying about the mistletoe bots. They're a bit irritating but he's hardly going to let them trap him inside for the day. So he does his best not to give them a second glance as he goes to the library and then shopping on the way home. Bumping into Carol gets a smile though, even today.]

Hello. Nice to see you again under less perilous circumstances.

[Carol smiles warmly at the man. She had enjoyed his company and found him fascinating when they had met before - despite the where and how of their meeting.]

I agree. How are you?

Alright, all things considered. It's always an odd day when these things are out and about.

Things? [She casts a look around.] What things?

Ah. One of those. [Right on cue a bot comes swooping in, throwing up a barrier and screeching at them to kiss.] This happens from time to time. It's fairly self-explanatory.

[Yes it was. She presses a hand to the barrier while raising both brows, a mixture of curious and amused, and a little trepidation. Ianto isn't exactly a stranger, but she isn't in the habit of kissing people she'd only just met either.] And we're stuck here until the deed is done?

[At this point Ianto is rather blasé about it all. This is his third mistletoe day and he's learned the best thing to do is simply get it over with and carry on as normal. And resist Jack's annual suggestion to turn it into a competition.] Precisley. Although the barrier will start to compress of it thinks we're taking too long.

How devious. [A slight smirk.] Well, I can think of worse people to be stuck here with. Come on then. [She crooks a finger and leans in a bit. She's kissed plenty of people under doorways during the holidays (minus those years when she was married to Ed, who would go into a jealous fit), or just because. A peck on the lips is nothing to be bothered over.]

[Agreed, it's nothing worth worrying about. He returns the light kiss and does his best to avoid the shower of confetti that follows. Despite his best effort more than a little gets on his otherwise impeccable suit and he pulls a sour face.] What's odd is the wardens once celebrated Christmas without using these things at all. I'm not quite sure they understand how they work.

[The confetti is a surprise. She laughs and brushes it off her shoulders and head.] Their own machines?

Well mistletoe at least. I think they just set these things loose when they get bored. [Still focused on getting the confetti off his suit.] Really the mess is the only part I mind.

Oh, it's not so bad. [She plucks a couple bits of colorful confetti off his suit and flicks them to the ground.] You look festive.

Ah, an optimist, I see. Personally I'm not much of a fan of confetti under any circumstance.

I do try to see the bright side. [Something of a survival tactic.] I suppose it does clash with the suit.

I'll admit it may have been a rather impractical wardrobe choice for today. [Its an impractical wardrobe choice for every day but does that stop him from wearing it while chasing after aliens who will inevitably explode some sort of messy substance on them? No it does not.] So, what were you up to before I waylaid you?

Nonsense. You look very nice. [Maybe impractical, but a man in a suit is quite dashing, she thinks. Or maybe it's just been so long since she's seen one, he's something of a novelty.] Oh, I was headed for the store. I need a few things for dinner.

I was on my way there as well, if you'd like a bit of company. Low on coffee supplies.

I would like that very much. [She makes one more pass over her clothes, making sure the last of the confetti is gone, before moving.] Shall we?

Certainly. [He offers her his arm in a friendly fashion.] I don't know if those things are likely to target the same people twice but hopefully we should be alright.

[She takes his arm with a grin.] I guess there's only one way to find out.
