[ elena is out and about early, none the wiser of what this day will bring. of course she remembers last mistletoe day - kissing rebekah, damon, ric, sam... but she's not thinking of that as she strolls along and adjusts the contents of her bag. it's some cheerleading essentials; she's taking them to the complex. ever since caroline disappeared cheerleading practice has screeched to a halt. it's not really a choice for elena; she knows she'll continue cheerleading in caroline's stead, for caroline. (in the hope she'll return.)

sam's hard to miss, and she spots him as soon as her eyes raise. her breath catches some (because - well, no, she won't linger on the because) and she smiles. ] Hey.
