[ There were blankets set out in the lush parks of the prison, and on top a feast was spread out. Fine china and chubby pots of tea, delicate cake trays filled with tarts, biscuits and sandwiches; yes, anything the hungry and weary prisoners could wish for was laid out for their convenience.

[By habit he's the suspicious sort, which is why he's only nibbled at the food. He doesn't assume it's harmless-- but, he reasons, this is a closed system, and everything, ultimately, must have been provided by the Wardens. If they want to poison the populace, they'll manage it.

But try the food he has, and so Rudy is sprawled out in the grass somewhere, a half-eaten pastry forgotten beside him, head on his folded arms. He's humming to himself. Mostly Riders on the Storm, or various classic rock songs.]

[Honestly, considering how indifferent he is to people in general, it's surprising how strong Rudy's opinions on music are. Classic rock is always a safe bet.

He opens his eyes at that, looking up-- upside-down as chance would have it, since he's still sprawled on the ground.]

It is not. [ and he's right, not worth the effort either. piter walks a few courteous paces around him just to show that he'll be doing no such thing, even if he might have really considered stepping right over him for a minute there. ]

In my infinite kindness, I chose to issue a warning about collapsing where the more unobservant might walk. Not everyone is "all there" today, so to speak. [ the smarmy raise of his eyebrows suggests that he's including rudy in that as well. ]

[ Dexter's reasoning was similar. It's almost odd, how alike they think.

He comes across his roommate as he's taking a casual stroll - calm, his inner monologue quiet, an odd lack of tension in the way he's carrying himself. Dexter comes to a stop with his feet just by Rudy's head, which is where he stops to look down, rolling his head to a side. Upside-down, meet upside-down. ]

He cracks a grin-- a genuine one, actually, not that there's any way to know the difference-- and hums in a vague and agreeable way.]

Mom loved the Doors, [he says rather dreamily. It's lucky that he's stoned enough to sound like he's talking to himself, or the fact that he didn't specify his mother might be weird.]
