[Once he'd realized what was happening again, he went out patrolling instead of going into the defense force headquarters or to the athletic complex to work out. Instead he's just making sure this thing doesn't get out of hand while trying to avoid the bots at the same time.

[Derek looks left then right to make sure no bots are following them before he sinks back in between the buildings to make room for her. Mostly the bots are sticking to the main streets of the dome. He's only been caught unawares once today so far.]

I'm surprised the wardens let you have it. Or is it one of those what they don't know doesn't hurt them kind of deals?
