Marauder-Era RPG

[info]hpmarauders_mod

Name: hp_marauders

Contact: PM me on here or email at hprpgmods@gmail.com

Website: http://community.livejournal.com/hp_marauders/ (this is our first time advertising and we plan on advertising much more today, so there aren't any threads yet, but we hope to get members soon!)

Minimum Age Requirement: 13
Deadline: There will always be characters available, but right now we only have three taken: Lily Evans, Emmeline Vance, and Remus Lupin. This means that James Potter, Sirius Black, Peter Pettigrew, Severus Snape, and many more are still available! If you want them, hurry and say so!

Specific Requirements: Some sort of instant messenger like AIM or YIM is encouraged, but not required. Experience isn't required either, even if you want a main character. Right now we're really hoping to get the main slots filled: James Potter, Sirius Black, Severus Snape, etc.

Game Description: This RPG will take place in the Marauders' fifth year (1975), starting on the day the RPG starts. We hope to start this RPG within a week or two if we get enough characters by then, and would actually love to be able to start it even sooner!
The Purpose: To write the time period of the Marauders and fill in the blanks. We know about the Whomping Willow incident, that the Marauders became animagi in fifth year, that James and Lily got together in seventh, and a few more details.. but there's so much that wasn't told! We'd like everyone to have fun and fill in the missing details however you like --as long as it's in canon to the series and to your character.
Characters: Since this is our first day of advertising, we still have plenty of available main characters! In fact, only three characters are taken: Lily Evans, Emmeline Vance, and Remus Lupin. Any James Potter fans out there? How about Sirius Black fans? Well, they're both available! (Along with Peter Pettigrew, of course). Any character at all that is not Lily, Emmeline, or Remus is available, and as soon as characters are taken, the entry will be edited to say so. If you're interested, fill out the application and get it back to us! There are always plenty of characters! If you would like to join or want more info, see our rules (hprpgmods.livejournal.com/768.html#cutid1), and if you're interested in taking on a character, see the application (hprpgmods.livejournal.com/610.html#cutid1). We hope to hear from you soon!

When Voldemort fell it was time for the Wizarding World to grow up. There was a world to rebuild and society to help reestablish itself. It wasn't easy and it's far from over, but the Wizarding World is once again reaching the strong, powerful world it used to be.

A form of nationalism has gripped the Wizarding World. No longer do the Wizards of Today want to settle their homes on the outskirts of towns, or in the Middle of Nowhere. The city is calling and they want to be in the midst of that excitement. In a spike of almost patriotism, the younger generations have been moving into areas like Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. Mere magical-tolerant muggle populations weren't enough anymore, people wanted the atmosphere of London with the magical roots of Godric's Hollow.

In 2000 the first apartment building opened in Diagon Alley, just the first of several that would open over time. Since then this area, that has come to be known as the Wizard's Quarter, has spawned an ever growing number of buildings to appease the many residents. Townhomes and apartment buildings have sprung up in addition to clubs, bars, restaurants and more wizarding owned businesses than ever before. Wizards of all types and nationalities are being drawn to the this hip area of Britian, bringing with them a diversity that cannot be rivalled by any other community of magical folks.

Not everyone is happy about this turn of events, people complain frequently about how this urban growth has ruined quaint locales like Hogsmeade. The glaring modern visage of the newer shops ruins the thatched tiny village that used to stand in it's place. Diagon Alley shop owners aren't about to complain because they now have new steady clients, but there are many that don't like the grand expansion and international hub their majestic street has turned into. Mouth-watering profits keep the complaints in check there, at least.

Currently the Ministry is attempting to draw up new ordinances to help mandate the expansion and residents of this new semi-city. Some think it's about time someone put their foot down, others (mostly residents) think the Ministry still has a lot on it's plate and doesn't need to worry about flats and tea shoppes. No matter what you think of the place, it's impossible to deny the Wizards' Quarter in Diagon Alley is the hippest, coolest, most exciting place to be right now if you are a Wizard in Europe. What kind of wizard are you?

Move in date is December 1st!
