Calvin loitered around the park, first pacing, then sitting down on a bench, then getting up and pacing some more. He'd had a lot to think about in the past few days, and none of it was particularly pleasant. Like the rest of his circle of friends, he was worried about Jacen. His best friend's attitude and some of his severely depressed-sounding comments made Calvin want to break into his room and duct tape him to a chair so he wouldn't go anywhere. The last thing everyone needed was another runaway. And then there was that worrisome blog entry about a new girl that had shown up on the island. Calvin couldn't even begin to describe the fear that had seized his heart when he'd read that post, but he certainly didn't want to try. Or tell anyone. From his limited experience in the area, when he told people about his visions, they usually either yelled at him or just looked at him funny. Either way, no one really seemed to believe him. Except for maybe Katie. And Vivian. And... maybe Emily, if he were to tell her what was going on.
And Emily certainly wasn't helping the knot of worry pulsing in his stomach. She'd seemed really upset about something, and he was sad that he'd missed her. Still, at least in this case he could do something to make it right. He glanced at his watch and then over at the park bench where his things were sitting. He hadn't brought much, just his raincoat and umbrella, just as he'd been instructed. Not for the first time that evening, he looked quizzically up at the remarkably clear sky. It had rained earlier that weekend, but surely there couldn't be a storm tonight, not with the lack of humidity and the cloudlessness. Maybe Emily had some sort of demonstration to show him. Sighing, he folded his hands behind his back and made his way over the bench, gingerly sitting down again to wait.
