"Maybe, if you think that would help." Personally, Calvin thought such books were a waste of money, but then he wasn't a girl and he had Katie, so he would reserve his judgment, at least for now, for Emily's sake. He hesitated a moment as Emily questioned him and said, "I'm very good at keeping secrets. And of course I had a crush on you, Em. What's so 'ew' about that? Next to Viv, you've been my closest female friend for practically ever."
Calvin was quiet as she listed the powers, but even he had to admit that he'd wished for a cure himself. "I bet I can come up with downsides to all of those," he pointed out. "Flying would be difficult to control as you developed it, and just because you can fly doesn't necessarily mean you can land. super speed would be dangerous since you might not be able to see where you were going, and heaven help you if you crash into something. As for super strength.. think of how easy it would be to break things, or even to crush people by accident. It'd be awful." He shuddered. "And just think of what it would be like if you could see the future. You'd always been seeing these awful things and not be able to do anything about them. Nightmares in the daytime. That's what that'd be." He tried not to give himself away, but the fear in his eyes was more obvious than he would've liked.
