Emily shook her head at Calvin's complex explanation about humans and relationships. "Leave it to you to take something simple and make it sound horribly complex," she paused, "Also it wouldn't be clouding and depressing all the time, if I'm surrounded by cute furry cuddle little kittens." She smiled, honestly she did want a kitten or a puppy, something cute and cuddly that she could focus all her love and attention on. "Of course you think high school relationships are fine, you are Katie were votest cutest couple. Also I said most high school relationships rarely last long, not never. I think that you and Katie will be together forever." She glanced over at him, "It's not like I want to totally write off dating and relationships Cal, it's just...whenever I seem to like a guy I always end up getting hurt. I think I have a radar for emotionally unavailable guys. It would just be nice for once to have a guy return my feelings. Katie was kind of your first crush, you don't know what it's like to constantly have your feelings shot down."
Calvin's fingers running through her hair did help but his words kept the tears coming. However she steeled her resolve and pulled the tears back and tried to focus on the flowers on the edge of the park, the flowers she was drowning, she didn't want them to die. The rain stopped as she focused on them. "How can this be a gift, it's a curse Calvin. I practically have to live like a robot so I don't destroy everyone and everything on the island."
