"Nun... cat lady... same thing really." Calvin pointed out, ruffling Emily's hair affectionately. "Either way, I don't think it's fair to assume that you're just going to be alone for the rest of your life. Statistically that rarely happens. Humans are hard-wired for companionship. And you really think that being lonely all your life is going to help the weather around here? I bet it'd just be cloudy and depressing all the time, eventually." Of course, that was assuming she didn't learn to control it, but if her power was anything like Calvin's, she might not be able to. "And hey! Don't knock high school relationships! Obviously relationships aren't always sunshine and roses, but that's how life is, Em. You're mood will change whether you're in one or not, so you might as well try, right? Things are going to happen that you can't control whether you like it or not." God he sounded depressing, but it probably just went with the territory; you couldn't have ever-more-frequent visions of the future and not be rather sure that there were things outside of everyone's control.
Luckily Calvin was still wearing his rain jacket when Emily burst into tears, so he managed not to get too much more wet than he already was. Pulling Emily closer, her positioned her so her head was against his chest and his fingers slipped lightly through her hair. Just like he'd do with Katie. "You can be happy, Em. I think... I think t might be all in how you look at it, you know? Maybe this is a blessing, not a curse." They were nice words, of course, but he couldn't think of his own "gift" as anything other than a nuisance at best and a terrifying, awful burden at worst.
