Camp Fortitude

Hey folks. The lovely Ms. Forbes gave me the welcome spiel already. Been awhile since I've been temporally displaced, especially such a small jump. Almost a little disappointed there, though the lovely variety of blood thirsty monsters just about makes up for it.

For those of you I haven't been lucky enough to have a face-to-face with, name's Captain Jack Harkness. Officially I'll be with your defense outfit here, but I've dabbled in lots of areas in my time, so if anyone else ever needs a...hand with anything, feel free to let me know.

All right, so. We've gotten more than a few questions, either directly or indirectly, about the brownout. The three of us who were on tech at the time have been through every computer, every wired connection, every WiFi connection...we've gone through everything. Tony and myself especially, because Daisy was also doubling Defense.

Because I know there might be cause for concern that it could happen again and in the interest of transparency, I'm going to address it publicly rather than on an individual basis, and I apologize if I don't have the answer you're looking for.

Probably wishful thinking, but nobody would have any Ibuprofen lying around, would they? Or a Xanax? Or ten? I'm sore in places I didn't even know I could bend.

I know that it's been said already, but Defense did a great job while we were gone. I'm glad everybody is safe, and thanks to the medical staff for keeping an eye out and being on stand by. We're damn lucky to have doctors around this place. And I swear I'm not just saying that for the pain killers.

Where are Hale, Winchester, and Argent? Anybody got eyes or ears on them right this second? I've only got a portion of my tech working right now, I need you to tell me where you are if I can't see you and if I named you, you're new and I can't see you, so let's go...where are you guys?

According to my readings as they stand right now, communications: glitches all over the damn place, but I'm mostly still up. I'm missing locator and vital readings on the newbies: Argent, Hale, Winchester. Everybody else looks okay on my screens, and in my ear, but I'm missing you three. I got nothing on you. If you can hear me, be careful. I can still access the network if you need me, but I can't hear you if you're trying to respond on the comm, I'm sorry; I'm working on it as I speak.

Generators are running, med bay looks good. Greenhouse is up; housing is down.

Fence is down. The whole fence is down, if my readings are right. With the glitches, they might be overcompensating and giving me worst case scenario, but right now it's looking like the whole thing is compromised, so better safe than sorry so let's get on it, guys, let's go. Keep me in the loop, I'm always on.

This might just be hopeful thinking, but I might do a run in the future and I'm hoping to find a literature source, a book store or something. We have a library but I think it would be smart for us to try and find recent medical journals, history books...

I don't know. Could be pointless. But if anyone wants anything specific let me know and I'll try. I'd rather not add on to the already expanding list that Alpha is dealing with right now, it can wait for the future but at least we'll have time to figure out what everyone wants.

I know I don't have to say this but keep your comms on, I want to avoid losing communication for obvious reasons. We're a team now and this is the first patrol that we'll be doing together without Alpha there for backup, so if there's anything we should know about each other we should probably get it out there now so we can use it to our advantage. I don't know if you guys have Metahumans where you're from but they're people who were affected by a scientific anomaly and it gives them abilities that humans otherwise wouldn't have. I am one. I plan on using that if we run into a bad situation. I don't want you guys freaking out.

Heads up, I'm taking the network offline for about an hour tonight at midnight to kick up the bandwidth now that there's more people here and subsequently more stuff to archive now.

And before I do that, I'd like to do a check on everyone's comm equipment. I want to boost the sound quality so there's more clarity. It was one thing when it was just Sara and Steve, we learned to work around it. I don't want to keep trying to do that now that there's more of you. So if you could be so kind as to drop by the tech lab before the end of the night so I can play with the channels a little and clear out the static, that would be super.

I don't really know how to feel about this. One minute I'm with my brother and the next I'm... here. And as I've been told, no one really knows anything, so there goes my week of picking apart people's brains to find a way back or at least gather some kind of intel. I'm pretty sure others thought about it first.

I would kill for a peanut butter cup right now.

Or even a new pack of highlighters. I know there really isn't a comparison. But high lighters are a kind of addiction too. For me anyway. I know I'm weird.

So since we've had a few new faces come in lately I thought it'd be a good time to have a little get together! Thursday night at the bar. You don't have to be 21 to get in but you do to drink, sorry. 7 pm. Be there because really, this is the only thing that will be happening in town that night.

For everyone working External, I'm apparently the new guy, so if you need me for anything in particular, I'm here. I have a feeling I'd be more useful in the tech department but that's not where I was put so I'll do my best.

I'd just like to clarify that this is still kidnapping whether or not it was intentional. I also don't like being told what to do, so let's make it clear that I'll be working tech because I want to figure out a way to get the hell home. Not because I was told to. It's an important distinction.

That heartbreaking moment when you know they made apple pie at the diner but you've been running around ragged for days and completely missed out :( So sad.
