between_rpg – which is due to kick off today. It's set in the Big Damn Verse, picking up after Objects in Space and exploring what happened between that and the Big Damn Movie, Serenity.
Thus far we've had lots of interest, and the canon crew is mostly full, though we'd love a Book to round us out and many other canons are free – personally I'd <3 a Badger with his twin flamingos and very fine hat, or a Mr. Universe for my Wash to take up on that offer from flight school.
The real reason I'm bugging you fine people of find_players, though, is thatbetween_rpg also takes Original characters. So far there are two completely original ships floating around the 'verse, one of which is captained by my girl, Yfaine Larkin (![[info]](https://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif)

Yfaine is the sort of character who'd turn up at the beginning of an episode to gloat about how much money the slave trade is worth before losing a brawl to the Big Damn Crew and vanishing from the screens, never to be seen again. She's captain of a converted hazardous waste transport, Grasshopper Class, called The Sweep. Unlike Mal she has no scruples about what jobs she runs, provided she gets paid (she'd hand the Pescalin over to Niska without a second thought). She's also fairly infamous for having faced reavers and survived... so she claims (simple-minded rim traders will believe anything, won't they? 'Reavers got it' is a pretty damn good excuse for skimming a little off the top of the cargo and explaining why there's less crew now than you left port with...) though it's a public secret with the older members of the crew that the legend is all bullshit. Basically if you fancy running with the pragmatists rather than the bleeding hearts, then there's a space on her ship for you.
Thus far she's got (tentatively) a mechanic, pilot, medic and 2nd In Command, but there's still space on the crew for a few more – I'd love someone to bring in a properly purplebelly character to give our ship some balance (Yf's a 'NonTrialed Browncoat' in name only these days, and we don't mention the war...), while former members of the 13th Airbone, or 71st-1st Recon, are also welcome (details on those units are in Yfaine's profile).
The other ship's looking a little more empty, so I'm sure they'd like some crew if Yfaine's lot aren't to your taste, and we'd love to see some assassins, bounty hunters (Jubal can't be the only one, right?), traders, companions... The 'verse is your oyster!
