For your first character, we request you fill out an application. If you are active and good with writing said character, and decide you’d like another one, we might be less strict about apps. I know they’re a pain, and if we are confident with you already, you might be allowed to cut off pieces here or there, or even just submit samples. After you finish this application, send it to somekindofharmony@gmail.com. A mod will send you a reply. If approved, you’ll get directions for adding communities and whatnot, if rejected, we’ll try to give you reasons why so you can re-apply. If you do not get a reply back in three days, feel free to send it again. I have been told that our g-mail is strangely glitchy, so sometimes a second e-mail is needed. You can also give us a ping at harmony mods (AIM) and ask if we've received the e-mail and we'll give you an answer. Feel free to either e-mail or AIM with questions about the application or the game. Before you apply, please be thorough -- read through the Welcome to Harmony, Information for New Citizens,, and Rules pages. They are quite important for better understanding Harmony. Name: What people should refer to you by. Pseudonyms are fine, but it would be great to get that AND a nickname. For example? Shimmersea is my penname, so Shimmie, Shim, all that good stuff. Your real name is fine, too! Email Your most active e-mail address. AIM: All players are required an AIM account. Character Name: Your character’s name. First and Last, if applicable. Fandom: What fandom your character is from. Desired Age: The age you’d like your character to be. Not necessarily the age they are at the end of their fandom, it’s up to you. Desired PB: We’d like all characters to have at least one PB icon. Can't think of one? Check out PB Update for some ideas. Desired Job: Please choose a job. Keep in mind that it’s unlikely that your character will have a similar job here than they did out in their old world, but sometimes we’ll allow it. Please discuss this with us beforehand. At a loss? Check this master list for ideas. Sexual Orientation: Simple. Sexual orientation, as you see it. Don't be afraid of this label, because if something in the game makes things change, that's fine. As long as you don't jump the shark! Appearance: A description of your character’s appearance. You can have a link of a PB, but please take the effort to describe them as well. Personality: Their memories are changed, but for now, their personalities will remain the same. So tell us their quirks, how they’d react to things, likes dislikes, ect. History: This is of course the history that they won’t remember, but history makes you who your are, does it not? Even if they don’t remember it, it’s important to know what happened beforehand. This is also a measure to make sure you know your character! A quick summarization is really all that is needed, we focus on the personality section. Also, if you are planning on playing your character AU, please describe to the mods what 'alternate universe' your character is coming from. In-Game History: This one can be difficult for some plays coming in, but it should not have to be. Remember, the history a character remembers from Harmony may be as unique as you like, but don't go overboard with drama and bad family life. If you need some tips and more information, take a look at our Information for New Citizens page. Log Sample A sample 3rd person entry. 300 words at the least. Proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation! This is an evaluation of your work! This is the application for our special class of characters, affectionately referred to as 'The Watchers'. Only existing members can apply for a Watcher, and only if they already have another active character in play. This means you must be able to maintain at least two characters to play a Watcher. A Watcher might require you to be very active, so keep this in mind when applying for one. Essentially, a Watcher is a person 'outside' the experiment. Not entirely, mind you, but they are at least more aware of what is going on than a normal character. They retain their past memories of canon history and experiences. They are used by the runners of the experiment to help implement it. Depending on the character, they might be enforcing the 'rules', observing characters that have been acting suspiciously, picking up, dropping off, or relocating certain characters when need be, administering injections and antidotes, and in some situations, testing new injections (this is reserved for lower ranking Watchers). However. While Watchers are integral to the plot, they must remain absolutely confidential when they are first implemented. In-game and out. Obviously, as the character ventures through logs and interactions, the Watchers will become clear and will be officially posted on the Doctor's List. However, it is vastly important that these characters not be revealed, especially in-game, or it would result in serious repercussions in gameplay. Because of this, even after they are revealed in an OOC fashion, characters must never give themselves away to other characters in the experiment. Even if your character wants to become close to characters they recognize they are absolutely prohibited from trying to break supplants for personal gain in any way. So, that being said. All watchers must maintain a double life -- they must pretend to be supplanted, to have new jobs, and new memories. This is especially important if their supplant partner is not a Watcher. They must act in an inconspicuous, believable way. Any Watchers that begin to overstep their boundaries risk severe punishment, including removal of job perks, injection testing, and in worst case scenarios, having their memories wiped just as everyone else. While you might not know about all the Watchers currently in play, but you should be aware of at least one. Each watcher will be aware of at least one other, and this will be their 'partner' of sorts. They must have a link somewhere in play, whether they are supplanted together or are simply 'good friends' in game. Because of this how important and integral this class is, you are subject to severe mod observation. We will be exceedingly hard on Watcher applications and if we do not accept the first time, it is not likely we will accept the second time. Please insert death of Harmony into the application to prove to us that you have read this entire description of the class. If you do get the position, you will be revealed to knowledge that we will want to keep completely confidential from other players, so you will not be able to tell your best bud about upcoming plots or twists. You cannot tell anyone your character is a Watcher, and you cannot tell anyone of any other Watchers. If you abuse your power it will be taken away, simple as that. There will only be a few 'Watcher' spots available. There will be one watcher to every ten or so characters, give or take. We will not announce publicly whether there is an open spot -- rather, you will apply, and we will tell you then (and we expect you to keep this information confidential!). If your application is acceptable and the spots are filled, when there are enough characters added to warrant another Watcher, you will be informed. In short, this role is very important. You will be privy to very sensitive plot information. Be prepared for the undertaking this class involves before you apply! Name: Obviously, the name of your character. Fandom: Fandom your character is from. Age: Age of your character. Not necessarily canon. PB: 'Played By'. Job: Keep in mind that all characters in this 'special' class will often have assignments given to them. They need a job that allows them to actively pursue what they need to. In other words, they wouldn't be able to maintain a job that requires a lot of work. On that note, they will not have any issue with money to begin with -- they will be provided for by the 'scientists'. Sexual Orientation: Keep in mind that this can be changed in game, as long as it has been properly built up. Appearance: Your character's appearance. Please be descriptive. Personality: Your character's personality. Please include how your character would feel about being outside of the experiment, how they feel about the experiment in general. Reasoning: Why would the scientists hold out your character? There must be a feasible reason, so please put it here. Is it their talents? Their intelligence? Their stength? Why are you applying for this class? Please explain to us why you want to have a Watcher. IC reasoning or OOC reasoning. History: Canon History. In-Game History: Your character must have a backstory, and mods will need to be privy to it. So yes, it's back, though you won't have to post it. Log Sample: Third person sample. |
