Let the 55th Annual Hunger Games begin!

The Cornucopia

The tributes rise through their tubes and into a mildly warm arena. The sky is clear blue and, for all appearances, it seems to be a pleasant spring day. The Cornucopia is clearly visible to all tributes. In it’s mouth are several crates, lots of scattered jars, and weapons. Several backpacks and small items are strewn around the outskirts.

In all directions,tributes can see nothing but emerald green grass and flowers. They have arisen in a meadow. The meadow is flat and there are no trees, shrubs, or other kinds of cover. It goes on like this until meeting a wall of mountain which encircles the meadow. There are two exits from the meadow, one to the eastern right of the Cornucopia, and the second which is due south. Tributes will not be able to readily see these points, nor can they see anything which lies beyond them.

All the tributes are arranged in a circle around the Cornucopia. District partners seem to be roughly opposite one another. Tributes must wait sixty seconds for the gong to sound before leaving their platforms.

Tributes each get a private session with the Gamemakers to show off their skills. Based on their performance, the Gamemakers will rate them with a score. The sessions begin with the male from District One and end with the female from District Twelve. Tributes have access to anything they saw during the public sessions. All tributes will wait in the cafeteria until their name is called. After their session, they are returned to their district team for more interview prep time.

Scores will be announced on television.

The gym is located in the basement of the training center building. Above it sit each district’s personal living quarters for the tributes’ stay in the Capitol. Tributes are escorted to the training center in the mornings and spend most of the day here. Lunch is provided at 1230 in the cafeteria off the gym. Afterwards they have another 2 hours before going to spend time with mentors for strategy and discussion.

Tributes can interact as long as there are no physical altercations. Peacekeepers are at the ready for any needed interventions.

In each district, Peacekeepers and camera crews are out in force. Male and Female tributes are roped off by age group and away from the rest of the district’s population. Excitement and anticipation lace the air in Districts 1, 2, and 4 while dread and fear are felt almost everywhere else.

The mayor and all victors are seated on stage in the background. It’s a big moment for the Escorts, who take center stage.
