WHO: Anyone!
WHERE: The Great Hall
WHAT: Astragalomancy
WHEN: Between lunch and dinner
RATING: PG-13
STATUS: OOC/IC Log

Professor Trelawney had 6th and 7th year Divination students help her set up tables in the Great Hall. The type of Divination they were using was Astragalomancy, the study of divining with the casting of dice. It was the 6th years subject for the past two weeks, and 7th years had had it last year. Every student who had volunteered for the project was given a small table with a chair for themselves and a chair for the person they would be divining for.

One of Professor Alecto Carrow's many interests is Divination, so she was naturally excited by the ordeal. She does not know much about astragalomancy, but she did seek out Professor Trelawney to make predictions for her. Professor Trelawney, an expert in both Divination and the art of exaggeration, reveals that Professor Carrow will be facing a dangerous illness within a year. Professor Carrow angrily yells that Professor Trelawney is a fraud and useless, and Professor Trelawney quietly states that the fates do not lie.

Divination Volunteers! Start your own comment thread so that other people can go to your student's chair to get a prediction. You can use the random.org dice roller. However you choose to make the predictions is up to you. They can be wild and wacky or grim and sombre. You can make predictions based on health, love life, life span, and so much more!

Fortune Seekers! Comment on a character's comment thread for a reading!

Everyone! Comment on the reaction post if your character is around when the Carrow blowout happens, or just on the event in general!

Welcome to the Forgotten Realms, Adventurers! Stephen Cornfoot sits at the head of a long table, all set up for Dungeons & Dragons, dressed in a long dark blue robe with a matching pointed hat. It's a tabletop game, where each player controls a character in an adventuring party, each with unique abilities and skills that aid them on their quests, both in combat against dungeon-dwelling monsters, or in skills to solve puzzles or outwit foes. Stephen would have taken time this week to meet with each player to get their character built and figured out - if your kids aren't familiar with the game, he would have done most of the number-crunching himself and asked for input on what type of person the character would be, then given them a character sheet and skill cards. Personality, looks, quirks, are all up to the players, although to encourage roleplaying, Stephen would have asked questions to prompt ideas such as 'does your character have any fears?' 'why did your character join this band of adventurers - are they in it for the money? to help people? for the bravado and fame?'

Unlike Muggle D&D games, however, Stephen has added a bit of ~pizazz~ to his. With magic, he charms maps to appear on the table and uncover new rooms and areas on the table in front of the players that fade in and out as needed. With June's advice, he has also (new this year) charmed everyone's figurines to move where they're told and the monster/NPC figurines do the same, similar to wizarding chess. Everyone still uses a variety of dice to make skill or combat checks. (If you are a usual player, you may have your own dice set by now, otherwise Stephen has an entire box of all sorts of colors. His personal ones are a deep blue with white swirls and a bit of sparkle. Cause dice are sacred.)

Now on to the adventure... )
