10:47 pm [dr_hermes] [Link]	Just how strong IS Green Arrow anyway? Just a few panels from JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA# 5, with the usual Gardner Fox appproach of giving kids exciting, colorful epics that regard the laws of physics as mere suggestions. Okay then. Green Arrow climbs out of his jet in mid-air (leaving it on auto-pilot, I suppose). Standing on the wing and not getting blown off by the 600 mph winds, he whips three fishing-hook arrows out of his quiver and fires them in close succession. Not only does he manage to snap his teammates who are falling from another plane (and look how far away they are in that first panel), he then grabs the fishing lines and lowers all three of them to the ground. He's reeling down roughly six hundred pounds of dead weight from a jet to the ground. Damn. Since I know a lot of people are upset about Batgirl 1 and Cass's spontaneous torch-passing, I wrote a quick ~~fix-it~~ mock-it fic about the many times Steph has found herself taking over for another superhero and, of course, Tim being a big angsty drama queen. “This is Tim Drake. Leave a message. Or don’t. I don’t care anymore. Bruce lives, haters.” The machine beeped. “Hey, Tiiiim! Timmy! Tim-Tim! It’s Steph. Pick up! Your answering machine message sounds weird and gruff. Do you have a sore throat? HEY TIM! Pick up or I’m giving Ms. Martian your phone number. Ray Palmer, the Atom, wants to marry his girlfriend, Jean, but he's concerned about whether the revelation would cause her another breakdown (she's had two already). He asks his friends for advice. Continuity: They've just defeated 5 old gods who melded together. Earth 1 and 2 are separate. Black Canary is from Earth 2, having migrated when her civilian husband was killed. Red Tornado has taken in a child. Hal Jordan has been dating Carol forever. Barry Allen tried to keep his identity secret, but Iris found out anyway.
