For the Book club
This post is to simply provide the scene central to the discussion for the book club thread. It is from JLA 46 and is the League discussing what to do with Batman, whose plans to disable them was used by Ra's against them. For comments that deal with the content of the scans, I encourage people to take part in the book club discussion instead posting them here. Link to the Book Club post is : http://community.livejournal.com/noscans_daily/167617.html#cutid1

this is just out of curiosity: why would we discuss it on another site and not here? are you just trying to introduce us to this other site, or what?

I mean, I've got no problem with that, I'm just curious as to why you recommend discussing it elsewhere

Because the book club is on ns_d.

now, this has always confused me:
I understand that no scans daily is pretty much solely discussion based, but is it expected of us NOT to discuss things here and on no_scans_daily?

The book club post is a second part of the handling the storyarc from this scene is. I decided to do a singular post on the questions raised by this scene, as it is a crucial one and the reason Tower of Babel is such a classic, yet I also wanted to give clear context to the discussion, as it only covers five pages.

As for my request, it's rather due to the fact that it is easier to follow the discussion if it is focused on one thread instead split in to two. And since the book club and the first part are on ns_d, I suggested that thread. There's little can do, though, if people would rather comment on it here.

Does that provide an answer to your question?

yeah, I gotcha
just wanted to make sure that when I've been talking about stuff on other posts here I wasn't breaking some taboo or something, haha
might go join in on that discussion at ns_d

Why didn't you just post it on your journal then, and post a link to it in the book club post?

My guess is that because NoScans_Daily and Scans_Daily are are sister communities, have roughly the same membership, and share the same moderation staff, the OP assumed that it'd be acceptable to refer readers of a Scans_Daily post to a NoScans_Daily discussion, and vice versa. Seems fairly reasonable to me.

They should do a secret Santa, but instead of secretly one person giving another a gift, one person thinks of a way to kill the other person.

One thing I really liked about Waid's run was that Plas was not just comic relief. The guy used to be a criminal, so even if he's redeemed himself since, he's coming from a bit of a dark place. Which is not to say that Plas should be grim and gritty, but he's not Jim Fucking Carrey, either.

*nods* That really showed up in the arc second after this, following Queen of Fables, when they were mysteriously split in two, super-selves and alterego-selves. Not only did Plas' Eel-self go to a much darker place than you'd expect, Eel was self-aware enough to know he really did not want to be there.

During this run there was also much more effective usage of his powers and a lot more random reshapiness of Plas in the art backgrounds, very enjoyable. He had like a visual exclamation point for everything.

Not the hugest Howard Porter fan here, but I gotta give props to the art on that stretch panel at the top of the next-to-last scan, where Plastic Man is considering his vote. Very pretty.

Wait, so did Superman say yes to kicking him out or yes to keeping him in?

*obviously has not followed the ns_d discussion*

He's saying that Batman *does* know him well enough to know how he'd vote, and that's why Batman's gone before they go to talk to him.

"Someone who secretly checks me out studies me, scrutinizes my weaknesses (too much attitude, man) as he acknowledges my assets (great boobs though)..."

If it were anyone but Diana saying it..but it IS and it hilarious. I cannot stop laughing. Yes, I am twelve. XD
