Community Rules

This comm is open to anyone to post codes, layouts, resources, tutorials, and requests for help and content. Of course, we do have some rules, so please read through them before jumping in; thank you!

Treat others the way you'd like to be treated. This is not a drama comm, and we expect you guys to be awesome and stay civil. If a situation gets out of hand, please contact a mod, and leave comments intact so we can accurately handle the situation.

Please tag your posts and check out the tagging guide if you have any questions!

■ Very long posts or posts formatted with your own div styling for organization should be behind a cut to save people's f-lists.

Work safe above the cut, please!

■ If posting codes, guides, etc. absolutely do not post content that you did not make. That's stealing, and it's super uncool, bro! If you are posting expanded/edited codes made by yourself using another user's coding as well, please be sure you have their permission (You do not need direct permission if they allow edits to be re-posted in their blanket rules.)
■ Do not post tutorials/links to tutorials that show people how to steal codes from other users. Again: Stealing. Not cool.
When asking for help with something, please check the help tags (help: coding, help: graphics, help: icons, help: layouts, help: other) first to see if your question has already been posted and answered to avoid duplicates.

We do not allow game ads to be posted on this comm since there are so many communities specifically for that already; if you're pimping a game as an addition to a regular post, that's fine. (OK: You post an RP code and mention in the post, oh hey, also I'm running this game! NOT OK: Posts dedicated to game promo.)

We do allow other types of community promos if they are related to RP (icon comms, other types of resource comms, etc.) Just shoot us a comment in our dropbox beforehand and we'll let you know if it's cool to post!

hi there! i feel like i’m going crazy because i can’t find anything that seems to work. i’d like to get back into making icons again, and back in the day i had a mac and photoshop cs2, but these days i’m almost exclusively on the ipad. what program do you recommend for icon making on an ipad? i tried the obvious actual photoshop app, but unless i’m just overlooking it, it doesn’t appear to have an easy way to crop images to a specific ratio, like 100x100px.

i also tried the studio and procreate apps, but any time i resized the image from (for example) the default 2048x2048 to 100x100, the icon lost quality, looking pixelated and not great, so if there’s a way to do this correctly on those apps, let a girl know!

i would deeply appreciate any suggestions or tutorials that may be out there. thank you!

After reading my original post for this application, I realized that I wasn't really showing the usefulness of Notion as an RP tool so I deleted it. Hopefully, this version better explains everything. 🤞 One thing to note that this isn't a step-by-step tutorial but my attempt to showcase some useful features in Notion for RP purposes. However, if anyone is interested in a tutorial, I'd be happy to make one.

What is Notion?

Notion is marketed mostly toward groups and teams that need to collaborate on projects, etc. However, it works just as well for personal use. Wikipedia sums it up rather nicely:
Notion is an application that provides components such as notes, databases, kanban boards, wikis, calendars and reminders. Users can connect these components to create their own systems for knowledge management, note taking, data management, project management, among others. These components and systems can be used individually, or in collaboration with others.
Basically, Notion is touted as an All-In-One tool to assist you in project and task management and acts as a hub for other information you want to keep whether it's for posterity, reference, or whatever you want or need to do with it.

I've found Notion to be a really great tool for organizing things whether it's an inventory of what you have on hand in your kitchen or creating a simple to do list with a checkbox. At the same time, you can up your To Do List game by setting up a database that includes tags for what type of task it is and include reminders, due dates, etc.

After reading through a tutorial by [info]tessisamess I attempted to grab some screencaps from a movie trailer, but because I think I was streaming it through VLC most of the grabs came out heavily pixelated. I was wondering if anyone had any success doing a YouTube to MP4 conversion and, if so, what tool would be the best to do this?

I haven't written an RP essay since the before times. (Literally 2019 was my last RP essay.) This one is called How to Pitch Plot to Mods. Help mods help you give your characters cool things to do!

What am I doing wrong with the layout in this journal? The header/sidebar isn't appearing. It appears on Tess's code tester though. I have a website in my profile
