Day 19 - Something that you wish happened but didn’t

This is a toughy...hmmm...how about I wish Rage: The Movie had been made? That could have been neat, maybe?

or in 304 when Justin returns Brian’s bracelet...oh how I wish that one of them had acted on all of that electricity that was buzzing between them and grabbed the other for a hot kiss. Yup, this one :) (the icon is by youbetterwiseup)

Day 18 - Something that you wish never happened

There are a lot of things I wish had never happened to the gang because you never want to see someone bashed, ill, or heart-broken. But because of the nature of QAF being a TV show, dramatic things need to happen to keep viewers invested in the characters and their stories. These incidents help to shape who the characters become.

In light of this, one of the things I wish never happened was Justin walking out in 507...he still could have gone off and rented that studio to work in and still work on his relationship with Brian. But of course this was all just plot device and pre-planned so they could have the 'I love you' scene at the end of 510.

&...While the bashing is an important component to Justin’s character development and his angst-ridden relationship with Brian, I still wish it wouldn’t have happened...Besides the physical and emotional trauma it caused Justin, it effed up Brian’s idea of loving someone (ie Justin) and his thinking that his love can cause pain.

Day 16 - A scene that makes you happy

Brian teaching Gus what to do as ring-bearer...so cute!

Day 17 - A scene that makes you angry/pissed you off

There are a bunch of scenes in S1 surrounding Justin getting bullied that really make me angry that the teachers just let that shit go and don’t do anything about it.

But something specific that also ticks me off is when Debbie slaps Brian at Vic’s wake. There’s a lot of different elements & emotions at play, but I just find Debbie physically taking it out on Brian and reacting to his (somewhat incentive) comment unacceptable. Saying something, yelling at him, yes, but hitting him (she knows how he grew up), no.

Day 15 - A scene that makes you sad/cry

I'm gonna have to go with the obvious:
The bashing and the subsequent scene with Brian at the hospital, sad and bloodied.

Day 14 - Your favorite funny scene

Oh there are so many...a bunch of them are at the gym or leaning against the bar at Babylon.

But my fav is in 512 when everyone is reading their B/J wedding invites....Teddy’s spitting & Debbie’s exclamation that Brian must have knocked up Sunshine! :)

Day 12 Your favorite scene

While the prom dance is almost my fav scene, it’s not because there’s that anticipation of dread...
So instead I choose the 308 reunion of one ‘Mr. Kinney’ with one ‘Taylor’. The way it’s filmed (I Bruce McDonald, did I mention that already?…) & then the music along with boys…swoon.


Day 13 Your favorite sex scene

guh, all of them? futon!sex in 311 when Stockwell uncovers & discovers their devious plot. Brian just has to answer the door, doesn’t he! :)

Day 9 Your least favorite character

Some of my thoughts on this may be skewed by characterizations in fanfics...but I think I’m gonna have to go with Lindsey. I kinda of blame her manipulations for what happens at the end of Season 5, mostly for agreeing with Mel to take off to Canada. While they might think they’ll be safer, they lose out on the instant support of their extended family. And separating Gus from his father, that’s just cruel.

K, wait. Nix that. It’s Ethan, hands down. What was I thinking? I think the first time around watching the series I didn’t mind him, but now, eww!
Everything about Ian is irksome! 

Day 8 Your favorite minor character

Emmy-Lou! aka Mr. Emmett Honeycutt aka Fetch Dickson aka Queer Guy aka Aunty Em. Even though, really Em is NOT a 'minor' character...I just took this question to mean a character who was not Brian or Justin.

Day 7 Your favorite main character

Choosing between Brian & Justin is like....I don’t know...I love them both, together and in their own unique ways. pondering…. **blushes**
I admire different aspects of what makes them them, and I see bits of who I am or want to be in them...at least professionally and creatively...

Day 6 Your favorite storyline

If I have to choose, I guess it would be the Stockwell arc and fighting for what you believe in.  And of course the greatest reunification since Germany is set during this period, so that could be a contributing factor.  Also, it's probably been the season I've seen the most because of the way OutTV has been looping it.

Day 5 - Your favorite QaF season finale

Season 3...”Not everything”

...but I think I loved pretty much everything about this episode.  

The stop Stockwell commercial, Brian freaking out in possession withdrawal, Ted finally realizing it's time to go to rehab (that whole checking in scene chokes me up every time),  Mikey on-the-lam with Hunter, Mel making it through her first trimester, and the dancing in the street at the end.  And all of the music and the allusions to the Wizard of Oz. 

One of the most hilarious littlest parts of the ep. was when Debbie rushes out of Woody's and nearly plowed over Justin!! what the heck! :)

What gets me is this Brian line: “Some asshole told me that if you believe in something strong enough, you have to be willing to sacrifice everything.”
But in 513 he goes: “I don’t wanna live with someone who sacrificed their life, and called it love, to be with me.” But this is a whole big can of worms I don't have time to get into right now...just something to ponder...

Day 4 - Your favorite QaF season intro episode

Um, maybe season 4? “It was love to me.”   And it's the ONLY season premiere where B/J are together right from the beginning of the season.  Brian even admits they're  **partners** !!!

And because it introduced us to the fabulous Shanda Leer! :) But that was so sad and horrible when Darren was bashed at the end.

We also saw the shitfaced!Emmett after what looked like 7 cosmos or something...wearing the same shirt Brian wore in 309...too funny!
(my take on it is that Brian sold of a bunch of his wardrobe (like on consignment) at the end of season 3 to make some quick cash. And Em, ever thrifty, purchased said shirt)  [previously discussed under a post by Techgirl]

And it was great to see that the citizens of liberty ave. were able to get the concerned citizens for the truth to accept their donation to the cause.

Day 3 - Your favorite QaF episode

This is a toughy...while I adore 308 & 311...for obvious reasons ;) I think overall, one of the best episodes is 406 because of the gamut of emotions:

...the highs of the Kinnetik party, Brian with his blondes, they’re all so happy, Justin’s done wearing ‘pink’; the bet and Brian trying to get Justin back into school, the gym cock-blocking, Justin looking soooo good when he’s picking up the doc at Woody’s; and then Vic dies, discovered by Mickey & Em....so heart breaking; and then Deb going off on Brian, and then Brian winning the bet but finding out about the lump.

And I love that song Train by Goldfrapp. Oh and it was Directed by Bruce McDonald, so there ya go!

Day 2 Your favorite QaF season

Season 1 because it’s all so new and different....and because there are 22 episodes and they’re kind of all a bit stand-alone-ish. Oh I know there are imbedded arcs, but not as out front and in your face as in later seasons. The season one arcs are woven into the season more subtly, a bit more reflective in a way, and they have time to simmer longer, and then of course the boiling over at the end…

So, since I'm new here, thought I should do the QaF 30 Day Meme....I'll only post day 1 here, the rest will be on my own journal. (ok, i changed my mind...i might just post them all here unless somebody tells me otherwise)

I'm always a little late...

To say I'm obsessed with Queer as Folk would be a major understatement. Spring 2008 - I never saw the show while it was on air; I was flipping channels at 11pm one night and paused, upon young blond beauty rocking back and forth under a beaded lampshade. Hum... He was whining about a lost love... commercial, click.

By the time I clicked my way around the dial, all 300 channels (and still nothing worth watching...) I paused a second time watching that beautiful young blond boy fighting, and being fired by his boss/boyfriend? This has potential... commercial, click.

Ok this time I only flipped back to Jon Stewart for a few minutes, commercial, click. Mr. Kinney, Taylor you wanted to see... Oh MY GOD!!! The greatest reunion scene ever recorder in television history... The best, sexiest kiss I've ever seen (Well up to that point, but still possibility the best) on TV.

Ok one show, not even, maybe 10-15 minutes of one show and I'm hooked. Even the great Brian Kinney couldn't have designed an advertising campaign that could sell this show so completely, so fast if he tried... Oh wait a minute, I guess he did now, didn't he...

I watched the next two nights falling totally in love... Friday night 11pm click, What no QAF... Panic, I didn't even see it coming, I quickly hit the info button, Ok It won't be back on until 2am Sunday. I'm not panicked, I'm Ok, I'll just watch Bill Maher... No to restless, what to do?

Ah the internet... Search - Brain/Justin, the first click - the prom... NO, NO, NO... OK NOW I'M PANICKED... HE CAN'T BE DEAD... IT CAN'T END THIS WAY...

Tears are streaming down my face, I feel like my heart has been ripped out and I'm trying to understand why I feel so attached to a TV show, one I've only seen 3 times. I need a joint, I need a drink...

Life is never going to be the same again... I wake up Saturday morning with a major headache (from crying all night) grind super strong coffee, and start brain storming ways to get a copy of the show?

I call Block Buster and ask if the rent DVD's of the show. The clerk has never heard of the show, and he keeps asking queer, queer is that what you said? I'm totally disgusted with homophobic asshole on the phone and hangup on him...

Frustrated I search Amazon.com and find all 5 seasons... Thank God, the problem is I can't wait for them to be shipped, what’s a girl to do.

Later that afternoon as I'm leaving home depot loaded up with flats of flowers, no better way to relief my anxiety that dig up the earth and get dirty.

As I'm leaving the parking lot just out of the corner off my eye I see Borders book store, I quickly make a u-turn and beeline into the store.

I love Borders; I love their employees and most of all I love that they happily directed me to the first two seasons and took my money without out any homophobic comments, and even offered to order the next three seasons for me.

I'm a very happy girl, I even through about writing "W" and thanking him for my stimulus check, it was the only way I could afford to make this purchase being unemployed.

Due to my lack of employed I could watch my new DVD's 24/7, Okay maybe it was really more like 20/7 I really didn't sleep much those next couple of weeks I was in the middle of my our personal QAF marathon.

I couldn't have been more happier, sad, or felt anymore angst if I tried. That was until I saw episode 513... All I can say is WHY... I've only watched this episode once, I felt like I was hit in the head with a baseball bat...

I HATED the way the show ended, I don't understand... In some ways I would have been just fine if the end the show after season three, or even season four if they had to end it with Justin going away.

But season five everyone just turned into total jerks or character's of them selves, even Justin. The only way season 5 made since to me was for them to get married and end it at 512, otherwise what was all the angst and drama about, just put me out of my misery already...

And then there was fanfics - THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Please never stop writing, the longer the stories the better, although I have just started appreciating the stand alones and drabbles something short and sweet.

Like I said life is never going to be the same, I can't even remember what it was I did with all my time before a started reading fanfic's 24/7... About a year ago I started writing and posting on livejournal and now I’ve decided to try and figure out Insanejournal. Thanks I look forward to meeting all you guys…
