If I want to make a game but have no idea if the fandom is large enough is there a way you suggest I discover people's interest in it?

Searching for a like-minded soul...

I'm looking for a co-mod for a new game: Anything Goes

A few years ago my best friend and I were both in a Vegas supernatural game that died. We loved our characters, and so took them away from the game to a psl community. We had rolicking adventures with our characters, and truly memorable times making the mish mash group fit together. Suprise loves, fights, dangers... everything but the dreaded Mpreg. Those were the days.

My friend moved to Africa last month. She's busy being a traveller and helping 3rd world children. Which is great, except I miss my RP buddy.

So I've started Anything Goes, a city based supernatural RP. I hope to get it off the ground with new characters, following the same premise that we had. The premise being "Plot like you've never plotted before!". Originality is the key, plot development is the point, and fun is hopefully the result.

I try to keep my characters original, and want the same for the community. Though there won't be all encompassing plot development, there will be a need to perhaps create characters to fill niches. If this is your thing, as well as co-modly duties (advertising, keeping players active, handling adds when I'm away), I would LOVE to have you on board! Check the comms, e-mail me at youngbears[@]rocketmail[.]com, or AIM me at potentialpyro.

Fire Department of New York. I'm really looking to get this game going, but don't have too much experience running a game, and unfortunately not enough knowledge when it comes to fire departments. I'd take all the help I can get when it comes to this.

DC AU Game

I know Marvel Games tend to be more popular, but I can try and have hope...

Way, way long ago on GJ I'd tried opening a DC AU game called Bedlam, which sort of took on a Gotham By Gaslight quality in that it was a DC game placed in Victorian era London. Characters had the powers/abilities they had in regular DC canoon, but they'd been gifted said powers by a society of Masons, a group which had roots in The Guardians, who had been active in ancient Egypt for the purposes of Bedlam. London was a stand-in for Gotham and the Bethlem (Bedlam) Asylum stood in for Arkham. Ra's Al Ghul was one of the main villains of the game and I'd really wanted to fill out the cast so that a wide range of DC characters were represented.

We had people sign up and the game started, but! I'm not the best person at modding things alone, so it closed up relatively quickly. But it's a game that I've always thought could be interesting in the right hands. I suppose I come here wondering if there is anyone who'd like to help me pick this up, or simply pick it up themselves. I'm going to post two of the histories below (BOTH of which need rewriting, I think) and if they spark you interest, pleeeeease let me know! Whether you would just be interested in playing in such a game, or be interested in running/co-running it. I would love to hear your feedback. Please don't be afraid to link others here as well!

Thank you!

Quick Question

I'm having a lot of trouble attracting players to my game and I'm wondering what other mods do in that situation? I've tweaked and retweaked until I can do absolutely no more. I've changed my old html and colors to something much more pleasing after getting feedback from a critique group. I've added a complete site map as well as other suggestions that have been given to me by players and so I don't necessarily think it's the look/layouts anymore. If I'm having so much trouble, should I be changing my plot or just advertise more frequently?

I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in co modding a Psi Corps based RPG with me.

Info:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psi_Corps
http://babylon5.wikia.com/wiki/Psi_Corps

It would not be based in the Babylon 5 universe, but the Psi Corp information would be the basis for the game.

greek pantheon game

Hey. I'm looking for a co-mod. (Co-Mod; definition: someone who will join, and help with plot, as well as read applications, and generally be around not necessarily often, but enough.)

I would like to do a greek pantheon game, in a different light than in the current fads. One myth to the only downfall of the gods, is someone rising up and stealing Zeus' thrown. As it has been written, it will be a son of his, and a fellow olympian. Fortunately, that narrows it down a bit. As you can tell, drama will erupt, and sides will be taken. Ultimately, I'm thinking during this whole mess, the Titans can come into play, and secretly take the thrown while the deities are in a complete state of havoc. So skipping the details, eventually the deities will be sent to earth, as GODS (however weakened, as shown through mythology), but deities all the same. I'm thinking something close to sort of dividing the gods, with those in favor of Zeus attempting to take his throne back from the titans, while those in favor of his fallen child sort of trying to keep them grounded on earth, sort of trying to end things fair and square. Once and for all type of deal. How scandalous would it be if Hera sided with the child, instead of Zeus?

Obviously solid concepts need to be expressed in the art of writing, but the generalized idea remains. If you have thoughts to build this concept, then by all means. Let's collaborate.

I'm tired of seeing the same incarnation game, with the same plot, cavorting about as mortals with no "memory". These deities will know about it, some will cope and take advantage of their stay there, taking on human names, and cavorting about with men and women as they did centuries prior (Zeus being the manwhore, why not?), and some will be more focused to their vendettas. Probably about half their strength as a god would remain, and wouldn't it be a total mind fuck if they got weaker with each passing century, sort of an ode to the Titan's plan?

Come on. you know this sounds interesting to you.

A True Mystery Game

This is the mod journal for [info]rp_clue, a game centering around the board game Clue (or Cluedo, in Europe!). It includes full set up for the game, and would come with all of the character journals. A few months ago I tried unsuccessfully to get this game to start; we had applications, we cast people, we settled on a killer and all the details, I made one post as The Body, and then absolutely no one posted a single thing.

I'm really bummed, because I - not to sound snobby - and several other people thought this game had awesome potential. The way that it's organized, it doesn't necessarily have room for a moderating team, so I'm not looking for a co-mod. If there is anyone who has experience moderating other games and would like to give this one a try, I would very much like to hand over the reins; especially if it means a chance to apply to play myself. If you're interested, give me a poke - if you PM please comment too so I know to check this journal - and I'll send over the passwords and whatnot.

Cheers.

Intro and seeking

Hello all.  I'm doing the legwork to open up a limited player 'Supernatural" game.  I have modded games before, but it was quite some time ago.  (I'm older than your average mod here)  I know about gaming, but I know almost nothing about web design and how to set up the graphics for a game.  I can photoshop my little heart out but HTML design? O.o  I know a sleek look helps draw in players.  The game can be amazing but if no one plays due to boring design, it won't matter.

I'm looking for some kind soul willing to help me with layout design.  (I'm already a member of rp_tutorials, and I seem to fail at everything I've tried)  I'm also looking for a co-mod for idea bouncing, pointing out holes, etc.  If I could find both in one person... I'd give virtual chocolate. :)

Any takers?  Any givers? Any hope?

[info]monocracy

I'm going to open a game based on the idea of Europe still having monarchies and empires that are more than symbolic. The events that led to Nazis taking over Europe have been severally slowed down and altered from 'real' history for the entire game is incredibly AU and would be for mature players only. I need a mod who can help me run the game from a player to mod stand point and look over applications. Either a co-mod with equal say, or someone just interested in helping out as needed.

Would anyone be interested in running a non-gimmicks, First War HP game? My friend and I are pretty good at setting up a game, getting all the details and game canon and code in order, keeping it updated and pretty, and all that other good stuff. We just kind of fall apart as soon as other people are added. Very much a behind-the-scenes pair, and we need someone (or more than one someones?) with experience who can run a plot, or at the very least manage the players.

And we really want a shiny new First War game.

I'm looking to start a new game. The basic premise is set along the lines of Hunger Games. The catch is each character would be a character from another book, show, movie, etc. Someone who would fit in the age guidelines. I've searched for a Hunger Games game on IJ but found nothing. Is it a viable game idea? Does anyone know what Hunger Games is?

Any feedback is very welcome! Thanks!

Re-Post; Looking to start RPG, Tomb raider/Rogue Angel esque

Hey everybody, I'm just reposting what I said before but thought that I would through out one of my ideas to see if anybody is interested. Again I'm looking to start a new RPG and need a co-mod. And my idea for the game was in the style of Tomb Raider or the Rogue Angel series.
So just to give you a rough out-line, the game would be set in England in a an organization dedicated to finding and collecting rare and supernatural antiquities from around the globe. I'm still mulling it over in my mind and haven't come up with a name for the organization but it would be founded by an anonymous billonare with a passion for history and archeology.

Each artifact would be from a different location on the planet and they would each have some supernatural signifigance. (ie: The sword of Joan of Arch, King Solomon's Jar, Gabriels Horn) And the reason the organization needs to collect these artifacts is, they all contain great power and need to be safe-garded from falling into the wrong hands. If anybody thinks this is interesting please contact me at fullmoon71383@yahoo.com or waterangel251983 on AIM. I would love suggestions, input, and of course someone to help me build the game. Hope to hear from someone. Later.

Looking to start an RPG, but no experience

I'm looking to create a RPG however I have no experience creating or modding a game. I am open to learning how to do so if someone has the time and the interest to work with me. I have very little knowledge of html coding so I really need someone that has a lot of experience working with it. I have many ideas for the kind of game I'd like to create. I have access to a computer all day and I check my email regularly so I feel like I can be good and modding. If anyone wants to co-mod, or is interested in hearing my ideas you can reach me at fullmoon71383@yahoo.com or waterangel251983 on AIM. Thanks guys.

Let's accept it- Joss Whedon is the second coming of Christ for a lot of us here on IJ.

If you're nodding your head 'yes' than I rather think that you should respond to this ad ad say that you want to help me co-mod a panfandom game that allows any Whedon charachter- Buffy, Firefly, Dollhouse, Dr. Horrible, et cetera. I'm thinking they would be played as being people who live in New York, with new lives beginning after their shows/stories/the last season ended.

Clearly, I need ideas. And help. I can HTML and photoshop with the best of them, but I'm a little too frank and brusque to deal with OOC issues without someone to um...edit my thoughts shall we say? The only catch is that I'm no negotiable on playing Adelle here.

Getting the game moving again

So I have a game that's been up since late June. It has been fairly active up until a few weeks ago. A few members dropped due to time constraints, and the current members all seem to be busy with life and school and the likes. (And I am as well, so I understand the feeling.)

And so the game has come to a stall. Nobody is doing much, but when asked, many members say they're still interested. Just... either they don't have the time or they've already exhausted the list of things they could do. And for some reason, applications have come to a stall as well.

I was wondering if you guys had any ideas for getting the game moving again. We've tried pushing a mod-plot, sending out some rumors... it hasn't worked thus far. Anyone have any ways of getting players motivated to pay again?

I'd like to create a new original game, but...

My ideas are currently only very general, and I don't like one any more than another right now. As much as I'd like to do everything, I'm really only looking to start one of these. I'd like to go with something that might appeal to a wider audience, but at the same time, I don't want to do something the market's saturated with, so I'd like to have some feedback on these ideas.

Would you be interested in one (and if several, which would you most like)? Do you think something's too overdone (or done often, but still a good idea)? Have any ideas about plot/direction to throw in? Hit me with any thoughts you might have.

A Few General Notes:
  • The RP will have an original plot and allow OCs only.
  • It won't be PB. Pictures are cool with me, but they won't be required.
  • Character journals will not be required, but if you want them, that's perfectly fine.
  • I'd prefer to run it over LJ, but IJ's fine too, so let me know if you have an opinion there.
  • I've been going over help and tutorial comms (this'll be my first big journal community endeavor, though I've run many elsewhere), but any tips you might have would still be appreciated.

You could also look at my general interest list here and see if anything pops out at you as interesting, because I'm totally open to other suggestions. Sorry for the TL;DR. > w>;;

Looking for a fellow co-mod to come join me in creating and running an AU game based on the works of Garth Nix, and his Old Kingdom world. It would take place roughly five decades before Sabriel with the death of the last Abhorsen and a false prophet king trying to take over. Elements from other series like Lord of the Rings would be included, but the basic history and geography of the Old Kingdom series would be kept.

What I need in a mod is someone who can manage players, read applications, and has a strong grasp of the English language, as I am not a native speaker. I can do all the HTML we need, but someone who can add (or remove) information from things like a chart would be very, very useful. Please comment here!

Hey everybody.

"The Other Side" is an AU Harry Potter Fandom game we just started in late August, and we recently had a co-mod bow out due to school related business, so we are looking for one to take her place! The Premise for the game is here. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks you guys. :)
