Marvel Civil War

I've been modding for 5+ years and I'm going to be starting a Marvel Civil War era community based in the Marvel Movieverse. I've seen all the marvel movies and I'm very knowledgeable about the characters of the X-Men comic verse, but I lack specific knowledge and details about the Civil War line and the other marvel characters past their movie appearances. Although we would obviously be tweaking things for the movieverse, I'm looking for a co-moderator who's more knowledgeable about this specific era in Marvel's universe so that we could work together on creating this community.

Ideally, I'd love it if you had some good modding experience, but the most important thing is that you can come with your own ideas, be open minded to combining ideas and be aware of what issues members usually have with poor moderators. It's important to me that we can work to set up the community together, but I'd also love to keep you on as a co-mod once we open. So I need to know that you feel you'd be able to continue to moderate well, incorporate old and new members into the monthly plots, help to welcome people and dissolve any potential issues before they become unneeded drama, etc. These responsibilities would be both of ours.

Please comment if you're interested, and send any friends you think of this way if they fit the picture. Thanks!

Clone High: The College Years

Does anyone remember the series Clone High? I've wanted to create a game based on that show for a really long time, but more recently I've been toying with the idea of having it set at a college. I've got a few more ideas for it, but was wondering if anyone would like to possibly co-mod, or if anyone else finds the idea intriguing.

So, I've recently gotten into Misfits and was appalled at the lack of RPs set in this universe. It's a perfect place to play in! I'd like to start (or join!) a game buuut I figured I'd check here first and see if there was any interest in one. Anyone like to play in a Misfits game or know of anyone who would?

So, I'm thinking about starting a game.

I've got a couple of ideas floating around in my head for plot, but my real problem is gauging interest. Essentially, I'm thinking about starting a game because no games exist for this fandom anymore and I really want to play with it. But I also don't want to go to the work of creating it if no one's going to want to play. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to go about seeing if there'd be a player base for it?

(Fandom's Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, by the way. It'd most likely be a mixture of anime & manga history.)

Looking for a co-mod

I'm looking to start an AU game based on the Seven Kingdoms, as described in A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones. I've got a lot of the set-up complete, so feel free to check out what I have on this journal. I'd say it's about 75% ready to go. As this game feels like it'll be rather large, hopefully, if it gets off to a good start, I'd love a co-mod or two to help me out.

The type of co-mod I'd love is someone who's good with the day to day modly stuff - helping with updates and keeping the plot moving along, etc. I'd also love someone who has a real love for the series like I do, or someone who has a lot of ideas to pitch in.

Please let me know if you're interested!

I have a question. Can someone either explain to me or point me to a tutorial or similar sort of thing, the differences between a community and a group psl? Are there a lot of differences? I'm considering starting up a comm and I'm just pondering if a gpsl might actually work better, but I don't really actually know the differences in running either one - well, I have some experience running a comm of course.

Help?

Starting a new comm

I'm working on starting a celebrity smut comm because I think there's room on IJ for more than one or two that stick around for the long term.

I'm looking for general advice (if anyone has any) about modding. I've had some experience but let's face it, we can all use help.

Also interested in ways to keep the community from being DOA if there is anything I can do.

I'm also looking for a co-mod.

Seeing Co-Mods

Anyone out there interested in modding a game set in approx 1910-ish? The premise is that Arianna Dumbledore died of natural causes, freeing Albus to travel the world with Gellert. I'm not sure of an over-arching plot (maybe Gellert and Albus have plans to take over the Ministry, or a Dark Wizard decides to try to take over...IDK, it can be worked out). I just think it'd be really interesting to explore the Wizarding world in the early 20th century and also give Albus and Gellert a happy-ever-after at least for a while. PM or comment here if you want to chat.

Buffy game

Anyone out there still like Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel? I've been rewatching and I'd be really excited about starting a game set in the Buffy-verse, but I know that if it's going to work I'm going to need a co-mod or even two. I'm looking for people who love the Buffy-verse and could bring ideas and excitement to the project.

nothing set in stone, 'the spirit of Buffy', room to grow, more ideas )

If at all interested, please comment here and we can set up a way to talk :)

ETA: This is a long-term interest, btw, so if you're not available right now but you might be interested at some point in the future, I'd still be interested in talking to you. Or if you come across this some time in the future and are interested, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Looking for Co-Mod

Hi! I'm looking for someone who'd like to co-mod a Harry Potter Next-Gen RPG. The premise is someone (or a group of someones) has a grudge against the Wizarding world, and is using the kids of the trio-gen to get their revenge. I need someone to help with keeping the docs updated & running the plot. I have very vague ideas right now, and would love someone to bounce more ideas off of. I've started advertising already, and would like to start the game on New Years, but it can always be pushed back a couple weeks or so. I have everything (mostly) set up at [info]paybackmods, and I can be reached at queenofbabble24@gmail.com or by replying to this post. :)

Advice?

I'm working on starting up an adult based pb game - I'm still figuring out the details and setting. I want to try and get it up and running during the holidays because I'm really enthused by the idea.

I'm trying to figure out the best place to open up for suggestions. A post in this journal, or something else?

Also am looking for a co-mod if anyone would be interested and has time.

IC Drama

This might be a weird question, but what do other people do when in character threads are becoming too filled with drama (sometimes bordering on crack) and veering away from the premise of the game? (Keeping in mind that the game in question is 1.) Glee-based, so a certain level of OTT stuff is expected and 2.) an AU where the characters have super powers) But there are a few story lines going on currently that just don't fit the overall tone of the game I want to present. I don't want to be SUPER CONTROLLY MOD, but I want to encourage more overall character development and less focus on angst smutty shipping lines.

So, are there any suggestions? (I've got a few game-wide plots planned, and we do random threads every now and then to get people interacting with character they normally might not.)

Seeking co-mod with an interest in helping to run a space pirate community. Heavy preference for someone with talents in layout/html style page creation and possibly graphics—though I can do graphics if needed. All the descriptions of planets, ships, and people are completed—I just dearly need someone capable of making them look as nice as (I hope) they sound! I have modding experience, so I don’t really need anyone to handle community maintenance and/or organization—but someone who is a touch more handy with the creative side would be nice. If you’re interested, please leave a comment with a journal or an e-mail where I can get in touch with you.

I have a problem.

I would normally figure it out myself, but this one is different. I have a known troublemaker in my community. At the time when they apped I didn't know it was them. They had already sneaked one person by me, but I've been in a community with them before and I see the warning signs. They're already harassing one of my members into leaving so that they can bring in a former sl partner. I warned them and they simply told me that they were doing it IC and in not so many words told me I was even stupid for warning them. I don't know what I should do; just remove them? I've seen communities being ruined by this person before hand I enjoy this place far too much to let it crash and burn.

Re-Launching a Game

I'm in a bit of a conundrum. I've been running a game for about four months and everything is still really active, but due to school and time restraints, we've lost quite a few players, mostly those that are essentially OC's (name only characters and family members of canon characters). When I took a game-wide poll the players left decided that instead of us trying to recast those characters that we just relaunch the game, omitting the storylines that said characters were involved with and moving things around.

Here's where I'm having a problem; I've never re-launched a game before and everyone that I know who has has only done so after the game has died plot-wise (i.e. things died down, they closed, re-did some things, and re-opened after a few months or weeks). What is the best way to go about relaunching the game when it's still open, we've got active plots going on, and we have a ton of holds and apps in process?

Any help or advice would greatly be appreciated.

Grasping at straws and could use a second opinion/co-mod

I'm working on pulling together a survival horror game based around your typical zombie movies, television shows, comic books, and video games. I had the idea to base it in West Texas (or another area with a similar climate/population density) about 2-3 months after the epidemic became widespread so the survivor numbers are thinned and spread out. They will spend at least the first few weeks trying to congregate whilst fending off the face-munchers and surviving however they can. Once they've met up, that is when decisions will need to be made as a group and since these people have been on their own for what feels like years instead of weeks, everyone's going to have an opinion and it ain't gonna be pretty.

I want the game to be free-form beyond these basic principles and I really would like to avoid the bunker scenario where everyone just crowds in and waits for a) death or b) the epidemic to ~pass. I also don't want anyone getting too comfortable. Yes, there will be moments allowed so people can breathe, but for the most part, I want everyone on their toes. There will be monthly (bi-monthy? weekly?) death rolls that will help guide players, but they will not be mandatory. Multiple characters will be encouraged. In fact, I kind of want to require that once you've picked up your first main character, you must pick up a fodder character (preferably for another character's storyline) before you can pick up a second main one.

So, am I crazy for wanting to do this? Is anyone interested? Is anyone interested and willing to help me out? Let me know. You can leave a comment, here, or shoot me a PM. Thanks!

Hi everyone. I'm trying to open a game - it's very much still in the planning stages, and I feel like I've spent a lot more time on the code than on the actual content. Pretty much every page is up for tweaking and revision. But the biggest problem I'm having is with the FAQ section.

My game is about students in a boarding school, holding out against a zombie apocalypse. Everyone inside the school is safe (as much as you can be), everyone outside is Infected. What I need right now, is someone to look at what I have and ask me questions, in a Devil's Advocate sort of way. It's not that I don't know the information, it's that I'm having trouble thinking of what needs to be included, and what people are likely to wonder about (some things that seem obvious to me, might not to others).

I'd really appreciate concrit, because I've spent a lot of time and effort on the game and pages, and I'd like to know, as players and as mods, what the good points are and what I need to tighten up before I can think about advertising.

Thanks!

HELP WANTED!

After years and years of playing in other people's games and being ultimately dissatisfied with some end result, I'm buckling down and finally deciding to take a crack at modding for myself. The game which I ~hope to create would be fairy-tale/fable inspired, where all characters would be representations of figures from fables. I have the concept down, and I know I can handle putting all the pieces together-- the coding, the layouts, etc-- but I know I'm eventually going to need help keeping things going, so I figure 'why not find someone to help from the beginning?' Ideally I'd want someone with previous mod experience to sort of help me through all the things I might be doing wrong as well as help keep things progressing if/when they hit a wall.

Any interested parties? Drop me a PM through this journal or an email to getitmemorised @ gmail . com if you're interested in giving me a hand- or just interested at all.
