   the societies HP Next Generation ~ 2023 MODS ![[info]](https://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif){kind=small} masteratarms | LOGS thesocieties | OOC outoftheshadowsDespite a schoolwide ban on secret societies, two elite groups have sneakily flourished within the walls of Hogwarts. The centuries-old Circle of the Heliopath recruits only the best and brightest of the wizarding world. The Circle has boasted a predominantly pureblood membership--until now. This year, its magical means of selecting members suddenly ignores worthy purebloods and instead recruits a class full of Muggleborns and halfbloods. Further trouble brews when the Circle's rival, the progressive Wand & Quill, seizes this opportunity to establish itself as the superior secret society. Neither group is fully prepared for the consequences of increasing secret society warfare. Presented with evidence of hazing, the deputy headmistress vows to crack down on secret societies and those who participate in them. When this hostility begins interfering with daily life at Hogwarts, both societies will find that it isn't easy to keep society business private, or to keep private business out of the societies. With pressures mounting inside and outside each society, can either survive the school year? |

For thirty years, the Wizarding World has enjoyed a sense of peace and prosperity. Hogwarts students have thrived in this new world, and while some mourn the loss of Wizard Tradition, most have embraced the blurring lines between what is magic and what is technology. A new branch of magic, affectionately called MagiTech, has been developed, and with it Wizards can now enjoy things previously only known to Muggles: television, movies, cell phones and the internet (known as the WWWW -- Wizard World Wide Web). However, there are some who do not agree with the way the current Ministry is handling things. They come from all backgrounds, and blood status, but have one thing in common: the fear that their Wizarding way of life will be lost forever if things continue. And on the night of July 1st, 2030, they're going to do something about it. The game will deal with the wake of a terrible act of terrorism, and focus on the lives of those left to deal with what has happened. Macbeth, III.4 The year 1980 has just begun. In this universe, Dumbledore knows about the existence of one horcrux, and Voldemort does not hear the prophecy. Death Eater attacks have escalated, causing a muggleborn rights group, the British Organization of Muggle-borns, aka BOMB, to begin protesting and retaliating. The Ministry of Magic struggles to keep law and order as it finds itself stuck in the middle of two warring factions. A secret organization, known as the Order of the Phoenix, may be the wizarding world's only hope of survival. Wizards and witches alike are choosing sides. It is open war. And it will have blood. |

 After the near destruction of Hogwarts in the summer of 1998, several changes were decided upon during its reconstruction. Hogwarts had always been a great place for learning, but lacked what some of the other magical schools had: a well-rounded education that focused on more than just magical mastery. With a helping hand from the newly established Ministry, several elective clubs and activities were created and formed to encourage expanded learning. These changes have evolved over the years, slightly changing as professors came and went at the school, but never quite disappearing. In fact, Hogwarts has become very event-oriented and is now hailed as a hands-on teaching school. There is still some harsh criticism from certain media outlets and former Hogwarts students that remember how the school used to be run. In fact, some would call the need to implement art as something required for learning to be quite piffling. Piffled is a game set in the school year 2022-2023, focusing on students from 5th to 7th year. An event oriented game, students are encouraged to participate in as many clubs, school activities, and events as possible. In the Summer of 2024, a pack of werewolves started terrorising the country, turning young children and brutally killing their parents. A month later the dead started returning to life. Voldemort was among the first to arrive. By spring 2025, Voldemort and the werewolves had joined forces; Hogwarts, Azkaban and Diagon Alley had been attacked, but Ministry and Order were still standing strong, forcing Voldemort to live in hiding. On June 18, 2025, everything changed! Voldemort launched an attack on the wizarding world, hitting King's Cross, the Hogwarts Express and the Ministry. While the forces of good spread out to protect the population, Voldemort took over the Ministry – and with it the Wizarding society. The Order and their allies fled to Hogwarts, where Headmaster Severus Snape shielded the school, making it impossible for Voldemort to gain entrance. From there, the Order launched its resistance. For the rest of the population, it’s comply or be killed, but under the surface, people are trying to find a way to manoeuvre outside the new laws and restrictions. In the meantime an unknown, yet undetected, spell is spreading amongst the Wizarding population, Death Eaters, Order and neutral alike.  The year is 2023 and Hogwarts’ first year under the reign of its new, tyrannical Headmaster, Tiberius Odgen, has come and gone. Students are free to enjoy their hard-earned summer beyond the reach of their stern faculty and archaic standards of conduct, no longer victims of dictations regarding everything from the volume of their laughter to the proximity they must maintain from the lakeshore (and members of the opposite sex!). The older students leaving their seventh years behind them enjoy this time with a sense of nostalgia and excitement as they prepare to enter the next phase of adulthood; some seeking employment and others leaning toward the option of tertiary education. Yes, slowly but surely, the Wizarding World has come to mirror its Muggle counterpart by founding Wizarding Universities, with Britain’s two establishments located in Scotland and England promising to turn determined academics into the kings and queens of tomorrow. But summer will only last so long. For all the younger kids, from fifth year to seventh, it’s only a matter of time before Hogwarts’ classrooms are filled with new sets of teenagers bombarded with rules and regulations, and a cross, ex-Hit Wizard Headmaster, who does not tolerate any kind of folly. Will your student follow the rules or say Bugger All! to them? |
