Rosalind was a tenacious woman. It was at her insistence that she and Robert go out looking for areas of high electromagnetic activity. Robert was cautious considering the amount of stories that were floating about, but after thoroughly thinking it through he found that his sister’s assessment was correct. They had to find these areas of high energy in order to utilize them to possibly create tears. He could not argue with his sister’s logic, though he might try.
Robert collected the items that their fellow residents had indicated would be useful at keeping them safe. The iron poker and shovel from their fireplace, a container of salt, small bright handheld lights (lights they had created with tungsten from broken light bulbs and broken radios they had found), and a silver dinner knife that Robert had found in a dusty box in their basement. Rosalind, however, had thought it best to bring along their new tenant, Killian Jones. Robert thought for a moment his sister might have fancied the pirate, but blew off such a notion as ridiculous. Rosalind never liked anyone in her entire life apart from her work. It was the first and second most important things in her life. Though perhaps this place was changing her. Robert would make a verdict once he had seen evidence of such a change in Rosalind.
Rosalind readied the EMF detection devices they had created for their trip, and the tear device they were to be testing. Robert had, since his conversation with Booker, started to work on weapons, and his first creation was a revolver that he recently had modified to shoot glass bullets filled with salt (at Rosalind’s request). All in all the twins were prepared for whatever they would face at the hospital. Robert knew this was something they had to do despite the apparent danger they would be facing.
"Are you ready," Rosalind asked from her work bench. She had a small messenger’s bag crossed over her chest with her items packed neatly within it. She was dressed in pants this time, and a blue sweater she found at the local clothing store. It would be weeks, if not months, until Jefferson was done with the clothes she had ordered, and these would have to do for now. She felt utterly silly in them, and for the first time in a long time self-conscious of how she looked. This was the reason she kept her dress simple so she would not have to worry about it from day to day. Robert was dressed in a pair of jeans and a tee shirt that he had found in the same clothing store. Like Rosalind he was not used to the casual clothes, but it would do for now.
"I am," he answered her as he put the tear device into his bag. He would have put the revolver in his bag as well, but Robert did not know the first thing about guns. Robert looked over at their pirate friend, and nodded in his direction. “Perhaps you should be taking this, Mr Jones,” he said as he handed him the gun. “For safety precautions.”
