Robert and Rosalind both did not own watches. There was very little need to keep time when time was relative. An illusion. One that varied from person to person depending on how they chose to look at it. For Rosalind and Robert there was no time therefore they never felt pressured by it.
"As far as is needed," Rosalind responded quickly. Her footfalls were quick, slightly echoing against the pavement and the buildings around them.
"As far as is allowed," Robert added. He, too, was unafraid of the supposed supernatural element of the building. What he was familiar with were denizens of a place unwilling to be encroached upon merely for scientific research. If they were only allowed to go one floor, then that would be as far as they went. Robert did not want to push for more if more was unwise.
"Yes, quite," Rosalind stated. She kept checking the detector she had slipped around her wrist, but nothing had even made a small spark in its clear face. It just meant there were no electromagnetic fields nearby, or at least ones powerful enough to illicit a response from their device.
Robert was taking in how quiet the town was at night. He had thought that the townsfolk were perhaps only cautious in their speaking of the dangers in the town, but now he realized that they all believed it. There wasn't a single soul out on the streets apart from their small group. Curious, he thought to himself. Fear truly was a powerful motivator.
