Rosalind pulled on his arm to stop him from going. She was rarely fearful, but she did not want to risk either of them going back to the hospital. As noble as it was for Killian to offer, it was simply out of the question. What would it serve if he furthered injured himself? She shook his head at him. If she knew Robert (and she was certain she did) there was a reason he closed the portal without traveling through it.
"You're hurt," she said to the pirate. "We've got to stop the bleeding." There was a sense of finality to her words, and the impression that she would not take 'NO' for an answer. "Robert will be along. He's done what he's done for a reason. I am sure that he is fine."
Robert was, as Rosalind guessed, very much fine. There were a few more cuts and bruises on his body, but the energy had not taken his life (just yet). He had closed the portal behind his sister and the pirate simply because he could not let such extraordinary energy go to waste. He held tight onto the device, and collected more of the electromagnetic force for the machine. Robert was worse for wear after it all, but he managed to collect their things and exited the hospital. He made it about thirty-yards before he collapsed to the ground, body exhausted by the effort to just stay alive. He was gasping for air, and his chest heaved deeply as he rolled over onto his back to look at the blank sky.
No doubt his sister was not worried about him, but their companion was not as apathetic as they were. He could not keep them waiting, he imagined, and forced himself to stand. It hurt to move at all, but a Lutece never gave up on anything. Not having a body did not stop him and and his sister from pursuing their research, and what were a few cuts and scrapes in light of all that?
