Library research! |
[Sep. 1st, 2009|01:02 pm] |
Who: Marietta Edgecombe and Marcus Belby What: Sorting through part of the Literary Society collection When: Tuesday 1 September Where: Dungate House Warnings: Rated N for Nerdity Status: Open, incomplete
Marietta had obtained permission to go through the collections that various members had left to members of the Literary Society by the expedient of using her Gamp family connections and her status as a Ministry researcher. The public library, or rather the books that were allowed to remain downstairs, were leisure reading for ladies and gentlemen. The good stuff, or so Marietta thought of it, was still in boxes upstairs and it had taken her time to get permission to go up and get it. She'd spent the morning digging through boxes and had come up with a few likely candidates for her project for Percy. Now she was coming downstairs to have lunch in the dining room, which she had only remembered to do because she'd set a spell alarm to tell her to eat. She was so intent on figuring out which of the books she'd looked at might be useful that she hardly noticed the other people on the stair down from the first storey. What got her attention was accidentally stepping on someone's foot. "Oh, I'm sorry," Marietta said to her unfortunate victim. "Are you all right?" |

Who: Draco Malfoy, Marcus Belby What: Occlumency Lessons When: Thursday afternoon, August 13th Where: Draco's Abode Warnings: None yet Status: Incomplete (closed)
Draco's directions were perfectly clear, and Marcus found himself approaching the door of a rather charming cottage in the country, bordered on one side by a rambling river. It was quite a lovely place, if one was looking for solitude, and somehow Marcus was not expecting it to look so...homey.
Checking his watch once more to make sure of the time, he knocked briskly on the door. |

Fidelius Casting |
[Aug. 11th, 2009|10:45 am] |
Who: Ginny Weasley, Marcus Belby, George Weasley What: Hiding Potter Farm under Fidelius When: Tuesday, 11 August Where: Potter farm, Snowdonia Warnings: PG for Weasleys being Weasleys Status: closed, complete
Trudging up the path to the farmhouse, Marcus noticed how quiet the surrounding forest seemed to be. He was sure he had noticed the natural sounds of various types of fauna the last time he was here, and he wondered if Ginny had cleared out anything that might be a distraction during the casting of such a complex spell. He pulled the strap of his satchel farther up on his shoulder, holding the pack close to his side, as if protecting it. It had taken a great deal of effort to produce enough material to cover the area Ginny needed, and he was almost loathe to give it up. As he approached the familiar old farmhouse, he called out, his voice echoing in the preternatural quiet. "Oi, Ginny! Are you here?"

The Order plans a heist |

Who: Charlie Weasley and assorted members of the Order of the Phoenix What: Figuring out how to steal an anti-Apparation device When: Saturday evening, 1 August Where: Order safe (ware)house, undisclosed location Warnings: It's Charlie, look for the potty-mouth Status: Open to members of the Order, complete.
Charlie had arranged for everyone who might be involved in the upcoming raid to get an Anti-Apparation Device to meet him at the warehouse. He felt like he ought to put up a sign that said "NO MAGIC IN THE WAREHOUSE" but he'd have to go outside to conjure some paint and a board to make it. Instead he settled down in a broken-down chair that he'd salvaged and waited for the others to arrive. |

Who:Penny, Gus, Adrian, & whoever else showed up. Where:Adrian's Townhouse, London What: Gus' Surprise Birthday Party When:Friday, 24 July 2009, Evening. 7:30ish Status: Open; In progress
Everything seemed to be going remarkably well. Penelope, with a bit of help from Cho and the internet, had managed to acquire a Fifth Doctor costume for Gus and one of his companion's Nyssa for herself. The hardest part had been blindfolding Gus so she could change into her costume and help him change into his. He'd been confused and suspicious when she finished, but all she would say was that it was a surprise before apparating them into Adrian's neighborhood. It was quarter to eight when she'd led a blindfolded Gus up the stairs to Adrian's townhouse and rung the bell. Most everyone was already there and when they yelled surprise, Penelope pulled off Gus' blindfold and kissed him on the cheek.
"Happy Birthday, Doctor," she whispered in his ear.
( Can I just say you're the best companion a doctor could have? ) |

[Jul. 20th, 2009|08:46 am] |
Marcus,
How goes the bullet-proof robes research? The rumor mill is churning up a storm about an attack on the Weasleys. (Some of the rumors are completely mental.) I do know for sure that Hermione was shot, but that's about it. So... any progress on our project?
Best, Ernie |

[Jun. 25th, 2009|01:21 pm] |
Who: Juliet Orfanos, and OPEN to anyone who might be at OWLS of a Thursday. Please do feel free to come bother Juliet, no matter how much she wants a quiet day. What: A day's work, more or less. Where: The parlour of Dungate House When: Thursday afternoon, 25 June 2009
"...thank you, Madame Bragge. It's been a pleasure as always."
Madame Bragge replied that the pleasure was all hers, and wished Juliet a good afternoon before departing. Juliet sat back down in the leather wing-back chair and opened the book she had just received from Ann Bragge: a history of eleventh-century wards. She had other business to attend to, of course—especially that ridiculous affair with the American treasury notes in Italy; what were the Italians thinking? and roping the Japanese in? were they trying to cause a major international incident?—but after the last month or so she'd been having, she felt she deserved at least a little time to herself for some pleasure-reading.
A server brought her a fresh pot of tea and a small plate of sandwiches, and Juliet settled in for what she sincerely hoped would be a quiet afternoon. |
