Who: Marian and Robin
What: Reunion of sorts
When: Early Afternoon
Where: The Library
Rating: TBD
Status: Complete

Marian brushed a curl back from her face, the loose bun not really keeping a hold of the curls all that well. She finished soon, that she was a little glad of. She had to come in rather early that morning and as fantastic as this place could be, it had been a little too quiet. Until five minutes ago, of course, when one of the girls who worked there with her realised Marian was leaving in twenty minutes so thought now would be a good time to pile her with the books that had to get put away. At least she didn't have to carry them, these little trolley things really were fantastic. She could get this done in no time, if she could just get to the right aisle.

She only had a couple more to put back, so she stopped next to where they kept the computers to fix the cream blouse she had on, the silk making her grin. Clothes were so easy to get now, and she rather appreciated the money she got from working here that allowed her to buy such nice things. Just as she was about to start pushing the trolley again a rather familiar face caught her attention from the corner of her eye. A grin split across her face as she found it difficult to breathe for a second.

"Robin?" she said quiet enough that it wouldn't bother others here, but loud enough that he wouls hear.

He sighed softly when she ended the kiss, wishing it did not have to stop but knowing that it could not go on indefinitely, nice as that would be. No matter; he had his wife back, and they had time for many more kisses.

At her words, he frowned. "Working?" Of course. Here, she would not be Lady Marian of Knighton, her needs provided for (even if that provision happened to be house arrest in the castle). Nor was he the rightful lord of Locksley, and a resident of Sherwood Forest for the time being. As he glanced around at their surroundings, he found himself doubting that he would be able to simply take to the woods again.

He was more than fine with that.

But, it probably meant that he would need to find work, as well. What could he do? He had no trade. However, neither did Marian.

"You work here?" He took a good look at their surroundings then, and his eyebrows went up. There were shelves everywhere, and on each shelf-- "Are these all books?" With a glance at her, he went over to the nearest shelf. He was right; they were all books. Everywhere. He had always enjoyed reading, but books were so rare and expensive back home; he had cherished the three that he owned.

Marian laughed a little at his sigh, pressing her lips against his gently and quickly before pulling back for good. She simply nodded at his question, wondering exactly why he was frowning. And then she remembered. She wasn't born into a life of work, she was taught to enjoy the finer things life had to offer. But here, that was not an option. If she wanted those luxuries she had to work for them.

But she enjoyed that. She enjoyed knowing that what she had was earned by her and not given to her because it was a gift or to keep her happy. The clothes, the food, everything in her room was earned. And she enjoyed them so much more because of this.

"Yes they're all books," she said with a laugh before walking over to the little trolley. Only a few more books, all for the one section, to get put away so she would be done soon. "It's amazing, isn't it? All these books in one building."

He could not begin to fathom all of the knowledge and tales that surrounded them. Had Marian read any of them? How long had she been here, for that matter?

Robin turned to ask her, and froze. At first, he had distantly noted that her clothes were different, but he had not truly seen them. Now that he did, he was rendered momentarily speechless. She had worn a few dresses with low necklines before, but not quite this low-- nor had the top fastenings on those been undone. But that was nothing compared to her skirt. The thing stopped above her knees, leaving her legs exposed down to her feet, which were covered by some frivolous-looking, yet oddly appealing, shoes. She had to be wearing some sort of stockings, but they were sheer, leaving nothing to the imagination.

He realized he was gaping, but it still took him a moment to drag his eyes back to her face. Finally getting a hold on himself, he cleared his throat, unable to hold back a slow grin.

"You look..." heartstopping... edible "...gorgeous."

If this was how Marian dressed in this place, he was going to like it very much, indeed.

Marian put her hands on the little trolley, eyeing the books she had left to see where she had to go. Good, all in the one place. Of course, Marian had organised the books so it would be that way. Easier to sort everything out. When she realised he wasn't next to her, turning to look at him and just catching his eyeline travelling over her body. She kept forgetting how different things were back home, she had gotten so use to the things she had to wear here that they seemed normal.

"Thank you," she said with a little smile and a blush before nodding in the direction she had to go. "It wont take a moment, just have to put these back first then we can go."

She gave him a smile before starting to walk, assuming he would catch up. She wanted to spend time with him where she didn't have to worry about having to complete some things before she could go home. Turning to smile at him again, she led him down one of the aisle's full of books.

"You can take them out as well. Take a few out and take them home to read and bring them back. It really is incredible, they have so many on different subjects."

That little smile and the color that came into her cheeks would have knocked him on his figurative arse, if he had not already been there. And then, she began walking away, and he was floored all over again. The manner in which that incredible skirt swished around as she walked was practically hypnotic.

But, she would likely throw something at him if she knew what he was thinking, so he schooled his features into his best innocent look-- or, at least, he tried to do so,-- and, after retrieving his bow and quiver from where they rested beside the chair he had occupied and slinging them over his back, he followed her.

Although, they were married now, so perhaps she was having thoughts of her own...?

He reined in his libido and replied to what she was telling him. "You're right; that's amazing. Have you read many since you arrived?"

Then, it occurred to him that she had said he could "take them home," which made him think of two things: firstly, that they would finally have a home, together. The camp had been nice whilst she stayed with the outlaws, but it was just that-- the outlaws' camp. Not a home for the two of them.

Also, it reminded him of the computer. Gesturing toward it, he said, "I believe somebody was coming to help me; I should say I'm taken care of." He did so as quickly as possible, and when he got back to Marian, he came up behind her, sliding his arms around her waist. Planting a kiss in her hair, he smiled. "I thanked her, but said my wife had already found me."

"I've read a fair few, yes. I couldn't help myself. I have some back where I'm staying still, a few things on history, seeing how things have changed. You'll have noticed just how the technology has developed. Like the lighting. No more candles, not unless you want to use them of course."

She smiled and nodded as he headed back to the computer, not walking away too fast so he wouldn't get lost. The romantic fiction section, which was where the books she had left belonged, was just along a bit. When she got to the section, she picked up and looked at the first book before starting to look to find where she had to place it.

That was when she felt his arms snake around her, his lips pressing down over her hair. It was so tempting to just leave the books and go, but she would not leave her work unfinished. So she allowed herself to melt a little into his hold, her eyes closing for a moment so she could really feel his closeness. But his words made them shoot open.

"Your wife? Rather...ahead of yourself, are you not? We may have started the vows in the Holy Land but they were neither legal nor finished," she smiled before turning in his arms, hitting his chest gently with the book. "You've yet to make an honest woman of me, Robin of Locksley."

He had noticed the lighting, and was planning to ask her about that, and about the conveyances outside; but he could do that later. Right now, the way she sank against him slightly was very nice.

Her words, however, hit him harder than a physical blow; he could not decide whether to laugh or cry. Of course; this Marian had never been mortally wounded, so there had been no deathbed wedding. It went without mention that he would never trade this reunion for a million chances at reliving those nuptials, but he had spent the last four months as a married man. As a widower, mourning the loss of his wife. How could he go back from that?

She was smiling up at him, and he knew he had been silent too long. As evenly as he could, he explained, "In the time I come from, we are married."

Her smile was slowly starting to fall as he continued to be silent. This was not good. Had something happened? But then again, how would she feel if she had arrived thinking them married and he did not agree? She would be devestated, could not handle the thought that she was his wife and yet he had no knowledge of it.

When he finally spoke she nodded, looking down as she thought. So they were married, he thought them to be married. But as far as she knew he could just be saying that. Then again, he wasn't the type of man to do that. Clearing her throat, she looked up at him.

"Then...we're married. But I'd still rather remember being married to you than just nodding and agreeing," she said softly, hoping he understood that it wasn't her saying she didn't like the thought of being his wife. She just wanted to be present at the moment it happened, she wanted to marry him. It was all far too confusing.

He always loved her, no matter what. However, Robin had found that there were moments in life when that washed over him, stealing his breath. In recent memory, he had experienced it when he found her outside Locksley chapel, waiting for him rather than marrying Gisborne. And again, when she had accepted his proposal-- which, he knew, he could have timed better; but she had not held it against him. Even small moments, such as when he had walked into the cottage and found her holding the infant Seth; such a seemingly insignificant moment, but it had affected him on a profound level, for just a heartbeat.

When she so easily accepted his conviction, but expressed a need that he could understand, he was hit with that encompassing feeling again. He nodded, smiling at her; after all, the wedding he remembered ended with her death. The chance to have a happy memory of the occasion was more than welcome. "Thank you. And I'm fine with this plan." Giving her a quick kiss, he then murmured teasingly in her ear, "It sounds much simpler than our old plan."

Something was poking him in the chest. Glad for a change of subject, he kept one arm around her, but snagged a book out of her hand where it was pressed between them, and held it so he could see it.

When he did, he nearly dropped it in surprise. There was a very realistic image on the front, depicting a scantily-clad woman clinging to a man wearing nothing but trousers. Scrawled across the top of the image was what he figured to be the title of the story, My Lord's Desire. Turning a scandalized, yet highly amused, gaze onto Marian, he exclaimed, "What is this? Surely, this is not standard."

She smiled when he did, glad that he seemed to understand just exactly what she was thinking. She wanted to remember the day she married him and until then she would be his betrothed. Not that there was anything wrong with that. She was more than happy to be his betrothed and would be until she became his wife.

Then he was telling her he was fine with it and her smile got wider as she accepted the small kiss and returned it with one of her own. She just hoped she wasn't caught by one of the people she worked with, she had a feeling they wouldn't be happy. The moment he whispered in her hear she could stop the soft laugh.

"I think we would be waiting a while if we were waiting for the King to come here."

When he took the book from her, still holding her close, she just waited for the comment. Rolling her eyes playfully at him, she slipped the book from his hands and tapped it against his nose.

"This is common. There are a lot of books, as you can see from this section. All this type of fiction," she said with a smile before pulling away from his hold to find where the book was meant to go. Soon she found it and bent at the knees, moving to slot it into it's space on the bottom shelf.

This playful side of Marian was wonderful to see; ever since he had returned from the Crusades, they had had few opportunities for levity. When she mentioned the number of books around them, he glanced around. Her White Knight, Jewelled Affair, Hidden Passion...

As she moved away from him, he pulled one at random off of the shelf beside him and flipped through it. The text was interesting; much plainer than what he was used to, more like it was on the computer. He wondered if it was like the tarsh he had seen in the Holy Land, which could also explain the sheer numbers of stories here.

Turning to somewhere around the halfway point of the book, he started paying attention to the words... and if he thought the picture had been shocking, what he was reading about made his jaw drop. He would be dishonest if he said he had never read anything along those lines, but the wording had been quite different, and the couple parchments he had encountered were quickly scrawled, not carefully crafted or printed with wood blocks.

And Marian would not have known of them, much less been laughing about them. "Do not tell me you have read any of these?"

He looked over as he teased her, and saw that she had knelt down to place a book on a lower shelf nearby. Her posture provided him an ample view down the top of her shirt. He should look away. He should be ashamed.

She would murder him if she knew.

It was worth it.

Marian reached up to grab another book from the trolley that was meant to be placed down here, slotting it into place and not really paying attention to what he was doing. Grasping the second last book on the trolley, she pushed it into the right space on the second shelf. Smiling, she rolled her eyes a little at his question before pushing herself up to stand.

"One or two," she said with a shrug and a grin.

With that, she grabbed the last book and turned to find the space for it, going up on her tip toes so she could reach. With that done, she walked back to him, kissing him swiftly before holding her hand out for him to give her the book.

"Unless you'd like to take it back to read, of course. Though I do still have one I borrowed back where I stay so if you're really that interested you're more than welcome to read," she said with a grin, her eyes staying on his. "If you'd rather the book I have at home I suggest you let me put that back so I can go back and get my things so we can leave."

She was jesting. Surely.

If not, he would pay to find out what she had thought when she read them. He smiled when she kissed him, and handed over the naughty volume.

With a wink, he replied, "I'll read the one you've got. We can discuss it once we have both finished it."

At the mention of home, he was reminded to ask, "How long have you been here? To me, it has been about four months since that day in Acre, going on five."

She took the book from him, grinning brightly at the wink. At his teasing words she brought the book down to slap across his thigh before going to put the book back exactly where he was meant to go.

"Make for interesting discussion, I'm sure," she said with a grin.

She moved to grab the trolley so she could walk back to the main desk with it, expecting him to follow. When he asked her about how long she had been here she turned to glance at him.

"A few weeks. It feels like I've been here for months, but yes. Not all that long."

Robin was not sure he could get through such a discussion with her, but that she was even teasing about it was something new. As he followed her, trying not to watch the delightful motion of her skirt, he noted the changes that had come over her in what, to her, had been a very short time.

She was so relaxed... happier. Considering what he had been told about how they had come to be here, it seemed as though she should be even more concerned than in their own time.

But, he could not argue it. That was one more thing he would ask about later.

It did make him wonder what was happening back in Nottingham, however. Had he simply disappeared? Or was it as it had been with Marian, and he would somehow still be carrying on there? How had that happened, anyway?

His head was starting to hurt at the conundrum, so he merely hoped that things were going well. He had once told Much that they would carry on without him and be fine, and he had every confidence that such could be the case.

As he moved up beside her, he suddenly noticed a small ring on Marian's left hand, and reached to brush his fingers over it. "What's this?"

She tried not to walk too fast, really just wanting to get out of here not that she had him. It was getting late and the library would be closing soon, so there weren't that many people that she had to move for. She was almost completely determined to get to the desk, get her little cardigan and bag and get home.

Then again she had to deal with Robin first. He would need some things to change in to and she didn't want to bother anyone for a room for him just yet. She guessed he could stay with her, just until that got sorted out.

She was brought out of her thoughts by the touch of his hand on hers and his voice questioning her. Smiling a little, she kept walking, stopping to place the trolley in front of the desk and giving the woman behind it a friendly smile.

"I didn't have the ring you gave me when I arrived here. So I got one myself," she said before walking towards the staff room. Excusing her for a second, she rushed in and grabbed her things, pulling the cardigan over her as she walked back out. "Ready?"

When she kept walking before answering him, he started to grow concerned, but her answer had him smiling... for a second. He was deeply touched that she would have thought to wear a ring indicating their betrothal, even in this strange world, but-- "You bought your own engagement ring?"

As he waited outside a room she had ducked into, he had to admit the ring was pretty, if much smaller than he thought she deserved; but it was not right. When he had found work, he would have to buy her one, himself.

As she joined him again, he gestured for her to lead the way. "I guess so," he replied lightly. It wasn't as though he had options, not that he would opt against accompanying her.

"Well who else was going to buy it and I am engaged."

She smiled as he gestured for her to lead the way, heading past the desk and saying goodbye to those that were there. Stepping out, she reached back for his hand, not sure it was for his comfort at the strangeness of the place or just because she wanted to have some sort of grasp on him.

She lead him down the few steps before turning left. They were lucky that there were some shops on the way to the building, she just hoped they were all still open.

"We can get you something to change into tonight and some things for tomorrow. I don't have to work tomorrow so I can take you to get some more things to wear."

The matter-of-fact way she said that was so very Marian, and it made him smile. He nodded politely to the people she greeted, starting to feel distinctly out-of-place.

Although he was not the type to want to blend in with the crowd, nor did he want to seem completely wrong; when Marian took his hand, he was grateful for the contact, the indication that he was, indeed, supposed to be here.

Well, at least as much as anyone this had happened to.

Also, it was simply nice to hold her hand again.

"Where will we get clothing? And how much do you intend to get?" He had needed to get new garments on the gang's travels back to England, as he had spent every possible moment training, conditioning himself for his showdown with Gisborne upon his return. He had outgrown the clothing he owned; running short of funds, he had had to sell the only thing of value he had that he was willing to part with: his sword.

He would not have her spending too much on him, especially since he was used to making do with just the one set of clothing.

She smiled at his question, remembering that buying new clothes wasn't really the top of his list back home. But it would have to be here because eventually he would need to wear what everybody else was. Plus, she had a feeling he would look quite nice in some of it. He looked nice in most things.

She kept a hold of his hand as they walked to make sure he stayed by her at all times. Not that he expected him to wander off right now. He liked being in control but being lost in this place really wouldn't allow him to take charge. At least with her he could feel a little safer, she hoped. And she could keep checking he was really here.

"Shops...Markets back home. They have a lot of them here. And just enough so you can change tonight then something else for tomorrow. We can have a better look tomorrow for some more. You'll like some of the clothes, I'm sure," she said before grinning a little. "Rather a lot of hooded shirts like the one you...use to wear, I guess."
