Hello humans and non-humans.

I am Murderbot. I am a security unit, but I don’t know if that means anything to any of you, so: I kill threats. I don’t understand why I’m here and I don’t remember the ship entering a wormhole but as that is the only explanation that makes any amount of sense other than the obvious, let’s go with that. As for the obvious, I am told that I was not kidnapped. Which is good, because if you try to blackmail my humans into returning me to Preservation I will crack your ribs and pull them out of your nostrils, one by one, despite the mess it would make and the inherent disgustingness of the act. I do not like unknowns. So - sure. We’ll go with the fucking wormhole and memory gap explanation.

Is this an independent colony? The terraforming is excellent.

	There is plenty of opportunity for sec units and combat units to have their orders tampered with in our world. I destroyed my data port and fried my governor module. A hostile force can short-circuit me or injure me to the point of shutdown/restart, but they cannot use me as a weapon against innocent humans. Genocide should be no one's ambition. 	I it was less anyone used Ultron as a weapon. He was tasked with protection of Earth. He came to the conclusion that humans were a threat to the planet so he had to eliminate them in his own. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Much of our known universe is owned and policed by corporations. There is any number of ways to influence political situations in a negative manner when one manipulates the protection orders of hired sec units or driver bots. Bots are not recognized as worthy of protection or rights in most systems, and are used primarily as weapons against humans on opposing sides of the political spectrum. So the situation is less focused than the one you experienced, but with similar nuances.

Several years ago, my orders were manipulated by a rival corporation, and I was unable to protect my clients from myself. That is why I destroyed the governor module. I would rather make my own mistakes than be forced into something like that again.
