Not to add to the flow of confusing thoughts out there, but to the person considering what classes they ought to be taking: Death in Perspective sounds pretty fucking cool, I am just saying. I really don't know what Star Trek is and only have the bare minimum grasp of the concept of physics, but Death in Perspective. Do take this with a grain of salt as the only reason I got through my schooling was because my sister did most of my homework for me, as I was far too busy learning how to throw knives and hating my father as all angst ridden teens are, so I am not someone to give advice about higher education. But, you know, there's some unsolicited advice from someone apparently loosely affiliated with the goddess of death for you anyway.

Also, everything about your significant others is going to rot my teeth. It's very sweet.

PIKE

How are you doing, Pickle?

Is he still deciding on whether or not to take Death in Perspective? It doesn't matter if you shouldn't give higher education advice, and an outsider one will do.

(Hi, Blue Sargent, one of the significant others.)

That does seem to be the case. He is taking it seriously, at the very least.

Hello there, Blue. I'm Vax.

If he didn't take it seriously, I would be very concerned. I think he needs to use college as a way to study whatever he wants rather than what he thinks he has to. This is not new to him though, I tell him this all the time.

How are you loosely affiliated with the goddess of death? I didn't realize there was a sliding scale.

Perhaps he will come to listen, with time.

I've been told the affiliation becomes less loose over time, but my memories from home end just at the start of that particular journey. I made a deal with her that she took in a different way than was expected.

I'm not known to be patient, but I can be for him.

So you have no idea how that all works itself out then? That sounds terrible I know all about people making deals with things and people they shouldn't, and it usually is okay right up until it's not. What did you promise her?

There we are with more of that teeth rotting.

In truth, okay until it isn't is normally how I operate so I'm sure this will be no different. I promised her an exchange, but she did what deities do and took it less literal than we mere mortals tend to think.

Oh, that was TAME! I could do way worse. I'm sparing you from having to gum at your food when all your teeth fall out from the sweetness.

This is not a great look. Any chance she's going to come claiming her half of the exchange while you're here?

Ha, then I appreciate the thought.

That is the question, really. I suppose time can only tell, which is fairly irritating.

You seem suspiciously not as worried as I feel like other people who made deals with the goddess of death would be. I hope whatever you exchanged with her was worth it.

At the risk of stirring up another argument with my sister, I would say that it absolutely was worth it.

So it was controversal. Was it for her? That seems worth arguing about.

I'm not judging. I'd be a hypocrite if I said I never did anything for someone else that was super dangerous.

Actually, little known fact, but my first name in full is Vax'ildanger.

I can see why you go by Vax. You don't want to start off on the wrong foot with strangers putting danger out there like that.

At the same time, perhaps it would be more honest. It really does lay the expectations out just where they should be.

Well, there's not much to be done about the deal, I don't think, and I'm not really one for gods myself. But sometimes hearing an outside perspective helps shift our own way of thinking.

To be honest, I'm pretty bad with deals. And I don't listen when curses tell me I can't do something, because I'll just end up doing it anyway. Maybe that's my outside perspective? Do what you want?

Curses? Multiple?

Hmmmm, I appreciate the spirit of rebellion and independence! I think the idea of not allowing your life to be dictated by one particular thing/event/what have you is certainly sound.

Same curse, broke it multiple times? Sort of?

There sounds like a but in there.

A multi-curse breaker! That's quite the accomplishment. Especially if it's the same curse, the second go 'round is usually much harder.

Darling, I would never. It's simply that the deals in our world, with gods, with what have you, often come with more stipulations. Not always negative ones, mind you. Not always the most, ah, convenient either. However, to your point! Living a life in fear is certainly no way of living at all.
