Sorry I've been kind of MIA lately, but I've been working on a home base for new arrivals.

Thank you for everyone who helped input ideas and make suggestions. Thank you to everyone who helped build the structure. It's ready to go live. I'm really excited about this. I think it will make arrivals feel more welcome and what not.

[OOC: Feel free to take credit for helping Alex finalise the plans, and please feel free to assume your character helped build the welcome center. There is a main room, showers, a dorm style bunk room with a handful of beds, a secure storage room, a secure computer room, a small kitchen area, and a lounge with couches and what not for anyone coming in who just wants to chill before embarking on their new life.

It's been three weeks. Somehow my journals - which I thought I'd left at the camp - are here. And while I'm really grateful for that, I have some questions. Not sure this is the best place for them but here we go.

You have an Einstein-Rosen-Podolski Bridge opening in the middle of the desert! But there's nothing around it and there's no catalyst!

It's a literal rip in the fabric of space, joining one point here to another world on a different dimensional vibrational frequency.

From what I remember at the wormhole in the desert, there isn't any natural or man-made stabilization factor that is causing the rip to open over and over and over. But for there to be a wormhole like that you need one, because rips in space - and I guess time in this case too? - they don't just happen. Something causes them.

For us it was the Timer, the sliding machine. It used an electrical field to both make the rip and stabilize the wormhole so that it didn't kill us. And we never got the same world more than once... well we did once, but we had help.

How is this happening? Has anyone looked into electrical field data for the desert area? How many times have people from the same world shown up independently from one another?

If it's not one thing, it's another.

Okay, hi. Yeah....this isn't going to work for me. I don't have time to be abducted by a portal or people who have really bad taste in fashion. I have a wedding to plan. Someone has to make it send me back!

So, don't freak out, but I've gone through some changes recently.

I understand that there are scientists looking into our situation from a scientific direction, which I for one am quite happy for as I am not skilled in muggle sciences.

I am going to be looking into this from a, well, magical perspective. For instance, in my world, we recently had a witch who transfigured a group of teen boys into swans, because they were 'too noisy' and interrupting her reading. It took magical law enforcement three days to figure out that the swans in the park pond were, well, not swans. Her excuse was 'if they are going to be noisy, at least they should be pretty to look at while doing so'.

If those who want to help would contact me, either here or privately, and just let me know what you were doing in the previous twenty-four hours or so before you changed. Where you went, new people you met, what you ate and drank, or anything out of the ordinary.

Hey, since you're the local contact, and on the Welcome Committee, I have an issue that I need some help with.

This is...not what I expected.

I've been working on some plans, designing a welcome center that I'd like to build near the portal, to try and make the transition for new arrivals a little easier. I'm looking for a few people to help make this a reality. I can't pay much, but I'll provide food and drinks for anyone who helps out. If we get enough people it should be a quick job.

I'm heading to the Crashdown to grab some lunch, but I'd love to talk to some people with construction experience, because honestly, I'm a little out of my league on that side of things. Who's in?

I have to admit, the weather is a little cooler than I thought it would be for New Mexico.

Whilst I'm accustomed to different lands, a place seemingly obsessed with UFOs and the like is... quite new.

I've never been fond of deserts. That's a good start.

In the spirit of me not working today, be proud, you guys wanna do something together? I got a hook up with the drive in. We get a bonfire going, cook up some dogs, fire up a movie and just hang out.

I would say I don't have time for this, but I'm sure dwelling and complaining won't do any good.

Who do I need to speak with to join the team studying the portal? I've dealt in portals before; I believe I should be able to lend a hand in the reverse engineering process.
