HEP members were asked to remain back after dinner so that they could have a meeting! First, the Carrows checked in to see how people were doing and sort of gauged what the mood in the room was. Once everything was settled, Alecto took over, and started talking about how Valentine's Day was coming up and that in order to spend some holiday cheer, the HEP will be responsible for it. She stated that HEP will host a
CUPID CARNIVAL, post-lunch on the 14th, in the Great Hall.
All members were free to come up with suggestions for activities, but she wanted a few main things to be in place:
- VALENTINE'S DAY GRAMS: Students are welcome to purchase these to send to others, for a very low price of 5 sickles. If they want to attach a lollipop or a rose, they will be 5 sickles extra for each additional one. (She also snickered after a moment, but wouldn't elaborate why she found this suddenly amusing.) The grams will be available for purchase on Sunday, but will not be delivered until Tuesday at breakfast.
- A NOTE OF KINDNESS: Kind of like the Valentine's Day Grams, but a twist — these notes will be delivered to the Hogwarts staff. All students are welcome to write to their teachers, and there is no fee for this. Alecto really wants to spread the love!
- PIN THE BOW AND ARROW ON CUPID: A twist on a classic, all students will be given the chance to pin a bow and arrow on Cupid. If they do it correctly, Cupid cheers. If they do it incorrectly, he jeers.
(And if you have any other ideas, please let us know!)
She wanted volunteers for all of these, and encouraged everyone to participate. Each student that volunteered got 10 points for their houses. Alecto also wanted more ideas, in general, to make the whole event a success for all students. She would have acknowledged that tensions have been running high, but that is no reason to celebrate a holiday, and she wished that all members were aware of that.
The meeting lasted until 8:30, at which point, all students were free to go.
