Pack Meeting
Characters: Micah and OPEN TO ALL WEREWOLVES
Setting: Hospital Chapel, just after 10pm

Micah had watched them file in, the variety of patients in a variety of states. He'd chosen to sit up on the makeshift altar, not that a non denominational chapel would really have an altar, but it did. After a while, when he was sure no one else was going to drift in he stood up, watching them, meeting their eyes before giving a smile a shot.

"Thanks for coming," he said. "I think this is all of us, for now at least. Anyone who didn't come by, I'll go find them later." He shifted his weight for a moment before jumping into things.

"I know all of you are feeling weird. Heightened sense of smell, heightened hearing, things like that," he said looking around the room. "Maybe even some tweaks to your personality, and you're probably all running a fever. I know because I'm going through the same thing." He smiled again, feeling more like the doctor and standing up a little straighter. They will listen to you. They need you. The voice was in the back of his head reassured him.

"I've looked through everything and the answer, it's strange. But things are strange these days. Any of us who saw the zombies know that. That said. I think we're werewolves. Or we will be turning into them. It explains the quick healing, it explains the senses all of it. It's ridiculous, but there's been other weird things happening. It's not just us." He shrugged a little.

"That said, you can believe me or not. I can't prove it one way or another. But I can tell you that there's people out there that want to keep us in line. They'll hunt us if we step out of line, just like they did the zombies. We need to prepare. We need to stick together."

Jack hadn't sat down, instead he was near the alter, leaning against the wall, arms crossed as he surveyed everyone. This was going to be interesting. He could smell it all in the air, those like him. "I have one comment first, then a question." Jack spoke up.

"First off--I got burned by silver yesterday, and that's proof enough for me." he said, unwrapping the bandage on his hand to show people the still healing wound there. For some reason it wasn't healing like the rest of him was. Not even with the vampire blood.

Then he leveled his gaze on Micah. "Now the question: Who made you boss?" he asked.

The doctor in Micah had him drifting towards the other man, wanting to see the burn, but the question stopped him short. Who had put him in charge? He supposed no one, but it felt right. Looking around the room he shrugged. "I suppose I felt responsible, considering I was part of why more than one of you are still alive. You included," he said to Jack. "You weren't cleared to leave when you left by the way," he added. "Someone had to step up. Someone has to make sure the hunters out there don't make us targets."

Eli shifted from one foot to the other, standing near the back with his arms crossed, rather than sitting down. He didn't like the setup one bit. He didn't like Micah standing up front, telling him things that sounded like utter bullshit. It was information he would've liked to receive in a private setting, where he was more likely to ask questions that didn't make him feel like an idiot. Werewolves? He didn't know if he could believe it. He wanted some kind of proof, like being burned by silver. Though he didn't speak up, he walked along the wall towards Jack, wanting to see the wound. If there wasn't more of an explanation, he'd be hunting down some silver just to see what happened for himself.

Lochlan wanted to claw his nose from his face. This room was way too small for all of them in their varying states of cleanliness and whatever else clung to them like aromatic auras. Nevertheless, he sat in a pew and slouched a bit. He wasn't interested in taking the lead here though the sense of the others here had the hairs on his arms and the back of his neck raising. He was curious what the doctor had to say so he was keeping quiet and keeping his eyes on Micah.

Justin had considered not showing up at all. He had shit to do, and it was mildly irritating to be summoned to the hospital via text by someone he barely knew. But Justin was there, standing near the door with his own arms crossed, watching with some level of amusement as Jack challenged Micah's authority right off. It seemed a little unnecessary, since Micah was simply explaining his theory. There didn't seem to be a power play. Yet. "I was burned by silver too," Justin said, glancing at Jack and then back to Micah.

Patrick stood at the edge of the pew Lochlan was at, arms crossed over his chest. Werewolves? Really? "This is horse shit..." He said, loud enough that it was purposeful but not loud enough that he was yelling it.

The silver burns were harder to explain but that didn't mean Patrick wanted to believe this. "Ok, Doctor, what research did you do for this? Did you pick through memories of old monster movies? Because I'm gonna need something a little more concrete than 'I think we're werewolves'... Do you just happen to have medical books on werewolves at your disposal?"

Micah heard the different voice, turning to see the last man to speak. He didn't back down, but he did remember the man from when he was brought in. "Do you have another explanation for why you're shoulder is fully functional now when you were all but mauled by a wolf?" he asked. "I know it sounds ridiculous, I know there's nothing to research, but things are weird. That man," he said pointing at Jack. "Should be dead. He was mostly dead on my operating table, but now, against my better judgement, he's walking around. I'm not even sure he'd normally be conscious at this point."

He looked around the room. "All of us, should be in far worse shape than we are. I shouldn't be able to use my arm. More than one of you should still be here, under close care, and almost all of you have been discharged and sent home. Normal humans don't heal like that. They can't hear like we can. They can't smell like we can." They don't have this overwhelming urge to tell all of you to sit down and shut up and listen. Because the urge was there, right in the back of his mind, growling to come forward. "There's other weird things going on. Mysterious deaths of people being drained dry. People dying from bat bites, but not an infection or anything, Just death. Things are not normal. I'm out of options beyond abnormal."

"Oh, I should be dead." Jack said, not having problems throwing that out there. "I'm not. Obviously I've got more going on." he said, which was true. He had vampires at his disposal. "Also not the point." He looked at Patrick after glancing at the others. "You're right to question shit. Because seriously. Who the fuck is this guy?" he asked rhetorically, motioning to the doctor.

"The werewolf thing, I get. And here's why. Obviously the silver burn thing tied in with the senses makes sense. Also, yeah. Werewolves? That's fucking ridiculous but we live in a world where zombies are outside the walls. So what's really off the table, at this point? But here's another thing." he said, then paused as he scanned the room again.

"Anyone else feel the tension in here? Because it seems to me, boys, that you could cut it with a knife. I'm not good with Mr. Armed With Paperwork here calling shots. I'm sure you lot wouldn't be fully on board either. Or with me. Or anyone but you, if you had your way. Am I wrong? Because I tell you this much," he pointed to Micah. "His hamstring is lookin good to me. Yank that and he's down, and maybe he'll stop trying to play leader. Anyone else feeling like that? Anyone else had more violent urges, or is acting out of character? This isn't too far off for someone like me, but I know enough to know I wouldn't cripple the guy for trying to take the lead. But it seems pretty important at the moment."

He looked back at Patrick. "So. You experiencing any dominant urges you didn't have before?" he looked at everyone else. "Is anyone not?"

"I don't know if you lot know much about wolves, but there's a pack, and there's an alpha."

He might not want to step up and bump chests with all of these men, but he sure as hell didn't want Jack as his leader. His dislike was instant for some reason. Sure, he felt the tension. It was painfully obvious that what Jack was saying was true but Lochlan didn't want to hear it anymore. The guy's voice was piercing his eardrums and the idea of getting his teeth on Jack's throat didn't feel out of place in the moment. But he refused to hurt anyone or attract an unwanted confrontation either so he folded his arms tighter across his chest and looked at Patrick.

"Doc's not wrong about the sense of smell," he said under his breath. It occurred to him that Chiri should be here. She probably had some good insight on the paranormal stuff happening. Or just in general. Whatever though. He'd just talk to her later.

Eli didn't like the idea of taking orders from anyone. He dealt with this on a regular basis, when Finn was pushing himself to be the leader, and he didn't like it anymore now than he had then. But if he had to choose a leader, he was gravitating more towards Jack than anyone else. Because he thought he was probably right in being able to take out everyone else, but also because he had a natural gravitation towards him as a leader. If he was going to fight, this was the guy he wanted on his side. Eli came to stand beside him, silently listening to the conversation. It was bizarre, but he couldn't argue with anything that was being said. Was he really a werewolf now?

"There's more than just werewolves around here," Justin said with a nonchalant shrug. "The body counts been risin' for a while now and that's no coincidence." He wasn't about to explain the tension he felt with Zania around, as he didn't want to give away that she was a vampire. "I'll tell you somethin' though," Justin said, glancing around before his eyes landed on Micah. "Feels like there's more than one alpha in this room, and that can't end well with how most of us tend to be feeling."

Patrick watched Micah and Jack talk back and forth and after a while of that plus everyone else's comments, he couldn't take it. "You're both out of your damn minds if you think either of you are leading me anywhere. You're too passive," He said, looking back at Micah, because that's what doctors were. Passive. They saved, they healed, they made tough choices but they didn't lead.

"And you're too aggressive." Yeah, sure, violence was sounding a lot better to Patrick as of late than it ever had, but did he want to be led by these too goofballs? Absolutely not. And was he going to let his family get led by them either? No way in hell. The only logical thing for Patrick was to split from this, to separate himself from the fucking madness that was going on in this chapel and just try to find a way for his family to band together. Because he already had a pack and while not all of the were wolves, at least one more was.

"If there's a pack and the choice for 'alpha' is between you two? I'm out. I'm staring my own 'pack' and anyone who doesn't want to deal with these two idiots can come with me," He said, looking pointedly over at Lochlan. If he got out of here with just him and Lochlan, that'd be fine, but making sure his family came with him was exceedingly important to Patrick.

Micah gave Jack a dirty look for the hamstring comment, listening to the others and shaking his head. "It's not passive, it's understanding that everything you just described," he said pointing to Jack, "is exactly what we don't want to do. Not right now. While incapacitating me might get your job done for now, scare the others into following you, how do you explain a gashing wound to my leg to my staff at my hospital? Those urges are what we need to control, not use them in some sort of glorified pissing contest."

Micah felt his fist ball up, but he managed to keep his tone even. "You're reckless, which is massively obvious by the fact that you snuck out of here well before you should have, putting yourself at a massive risk because you're too proud to take help or admit that you can't do something. We can't be like that. There are people who will hunt us down and after what I saw out there where there are zombies, I don't doubt them. We don't need to be reckless or better we need to be cautious."

"Did both of you miss the part where I'm not actually acting on it?" Jack asked. "I've been talking. Would I throw down? Yeah. I would. But I haven't yet. I haven't even made a slight move. I was making a point." He looked at Patrick. "If you want out, go for it. No one's holding your leash. Go do your own thing. Just don't expect anyone else to go to your aid if you need it later." he said, tone even. Because he wasn't going to try and keep Patrick there. If he wanted to go do the family thing, fine by him. In fact, anyone who wanted to fuck off and do their own thing was fine. Probably stupid, but fine. It wasn't his funeral.

Then he looked at Micah. "Doc, you might want to see to the fact that you don't fucking know everything. Don't call me reckless without the full story. Do I look like I'm limping around, hurt? No? Because I'm not. I'm fine. Which you probably should have noticed, if you're so invested in my case. Or are you just pissed I didn't actually need your help to get better?" He shook his head. "Either way, you're way off. You just assumed a shit ton about me that's pretty much all wrong. So, maybe you should back off before you get even further behind on current events."

Then he addressed the last part. "I say we need to be informed." he said. "If this is what we think it is, then I don't see it going away. So, yeah. We would need to be cautious in some ways, but I'm not about to completely hide with my tail between my legs either. I'm not sure I'm on board with starting out a new life willingly repressing shit. In my experience, you go repressing things too long, and it's worse when you crack."

"If this is real, then I don't want to repress it. I want to use it," Eli said, arms crossed over his chest defensively. "There's got to be some perks that come with being a werewolf, right? Those would be nice in a fight." It was just like him to be thinking of fighting even while he knew he couldn't, but his ability to defend himself and those around him was high on Eli's list. After dinner with Corey and Serge, Eli knew there were other dangers out there. Vampires, supposedly, though he didn't know how many or how dangerous they were. He was supposed to report them to Serge, but the idea of doing so still bothered him, even if he'd committed to do so.

"Where are you guys getting your information from?" he asked, looking from Jack to Micah. What he really wanted to ask was if they knew something else that led them to jump to this conclusion. Werewolf was a pretty big jump, but it wasn't half as big if they'd already had vampires proven to them.

Micah didn't even look at Jack. Instead he took three steps towards Patrick. "Don't listen to him," he said waving Jack away. "You shouldn't leave, but this isn't an all or nothing kind of thing. If you need help, we will still help. One set of us causes issues, all the others are at risk." How was that so hard for them to see.

"You weren't fine when you walked out of here. Don't even lie to me. And super healing might not include staff infections," Micah informed Jack.

"I'm not telling anyone to repress anything beyond something that could hurt others and possible put targets on all of our backs. This isn't something that can be useful in a fight Eli," he said looking at the youngest among them. A kid. Damn. "There's nothing to fight against. We're in a dome not some bad television show. And we need to stick together."

Lochlan stood when Micah moved toward Patrick. He didn't square his shoulders or move even but he was ready to step in if it came to that. "Pat, I think they're all bonkers. And if 'werewolf,'" he said with air quotes before folding his arms across his chest, "is a thing, I don't know any of them. I know you though. I'm with you. If you want to leave, I'm going too."

Because Lochlan just wasn't buying it. It felt like someone was pranking him and playing to his weaknesses to make a joke. Werewolves. Come on. This wasn't one of those horrible old Twilight movies. This was reality. Sure zombies were part of it but that was some virus gone wrong, right? Science. Not magic. And whatever was happening to them was also science. He could just imagine Avery's reaction to that. She'd scoff. He was scoffing. He glanced around at the others and he was more convinced than ever that O'Reilly's closing ranks was the best bet.

Patrick shook his head, appreciating having Lochlan step up when Micah came over. Nothing in Patrick thought he couldn't take Micah on alone, but it just felt right to have Lochlan there, ready.

"You're all fucking crazy and if you want to battle your crazy out amongst yourselves, fine by me, but I am not a part of this. We are not a part of this," He said, looking back at Lochlan. He felt fine speaking for him considering that it just felt like he should be. "Maybe if this is real and we're werewolves, we'll actually help when your pack needs it too. Maybe. But I sure as hell am not bending a knee to either of you."

It seemed like anything Justin said flew right over everyone's heads, and they wanted to bustle and puff their chests out. Might as well whip the cocks out and compare sizes too. Justin felt annoyed by the entire situation, though less at Micah than the others, since the guy seemed to want to help more than anything.

"If you leave," Justin said toward Patrick and Lochlan, "stay away from your loved ones around the full. You don't want to be regretting this the morning after."

Jack laughed at Micah. "Can't accept it, can you? Your point is blown, and you can't let it go. Give up the ghost. You're looking pretty pathetic with it." he said. Then he looked at Patrick and Lochlan. "You still here?" he asked, since they both were going to leave. He knew the brick wall that was Patrick's tone. It was the grown up equivalent of sticking his fingers in his ears and going 'la la la!' over and over. So, he could fuck off then. Go do his own thing.

He nodded to Justin, since his advice about staying clear of loved ones on the full moon was sound advice, and he backed that.

He had to refocus on Micah, however. "And asshole, now you're just putting people in danger with some fairytale that there isn't anything out there to fight. Fuck you there isn't. Jesus christ, I haven't even been stuck in this dome long and I don't even want to know the number on the bodies that have been dropping since the lockdown. So you're either blind or painfully naive. Don't even try selling that to people who were just attacked by vicious animals and woke up being able to tell what nurse was coming down the hall by her perfume. Don't you dare feed bullshit like that to anyone here. It's beyond insulting."

Jack glanced to Eli. "Don't let anyone tell you different, kid. The world is a scary place. Dome or no dome."

Micah had an overwhelming urge to choke Jack, which was massively unlike him. The man was just straight up undermining everyone, pushing them all apart, which was exactly not what Micah wanted to do. His fingers twitched with the urge. Instead of saying anything else though, he just waited, watching the people in the room, making a mental note of who to keep tabs on and who might wander back.

"Not for long," Patrick said, voice gruff as he looked back at Jack. Then he looked back at Micah. "You need help, you come to us. We'll see what we can do." Looking back at Lochlan, Patrick nudged his head toward the door then started on his way. Better to get the hell out of this place and figure this out on their own.
