Tensor Out of Character Community

Sorry for my relative quiet lately. Been playing fun with auto-immune disorders again, and between that and the benadryl that seems to actually help for some random reason I'm having a heck of a time with multi-tasking. I keep looking at journal posts and knowing I need to rep to them and even switching log-ins to manage it seems like a GARGANTUAN TASK. Hopefully after 2 more days of benadryl to keep down a potential relapse my brain will be defogged and I'll be up to speed again. :/

So we know this is really short notice and all, but the Tony Awards are tonight, and as with the Academy Awards, there are several characters in game who may have gotten invitations to go. Graduation was yesterday, so some of them may have partied into the morning. If your character IS going however, or if it will effect their lives in some way, please let us know here.

So, I'm pretty sure I have already told everyone, but in case I didn't... I'm heading to Europe in about five hours and will be there until the 30th, so I'll be scarce. I will probably still pop on from time to time, but not very frequently. So... woo but also boo.

Okay, it's bothering me more and more as I do this log. There's just not enough icons of Doug Smith with the lighter hair and I'm a bit over the curls. Though I'm still absolutely in love with the glasses and the pinch-his-cheeks geeky cuteness.

My question is this. Doug Ramsey, by modern artists, looks like this. I think he looks very much like Chord Overstreet, but. The trouty mouth song will haunt me.

However, I'd have oodles more icons, and Doug would finally be every bit as blonde as he should be. I could even manage a few photos with similar glasses. Do I want to swap? Is it a good fit, or is Overstreet too Sam Guthrie? Thoughts in the comments, please.

So, I am a total fool and it didn't occur to me how golden an opportunity the big boom would have been for Tony. Then it slapped me in the face.

I have talked to the mods and they've okayed a bit of a retcon for Tony. So he was there, got some shrapnel in the chest and now he's sporting a shiny arc reactor in his chest. He spent some time in the hospital and now he's back in the dorm on bed rest.

I have been terribly inactive (note: I'm not dropping unless the mods would like me to). There's just been a lot of real life stuff, one thing after another. Lately, it's just been bad luck though (example: I cracked my iphone yesterday and bent my glasses this morning).

I'd like to BE more active, with Doug and Ric, but it's terribly daunting jumping back in. If anyone has some hints, suggestions, or wants the boys, please let me know.

We mentioned this in chat, we wanted to make sure that everyone remembers. In deference to the recent tragedy, the school has pushed back prom, in hopes that all survivors of the tragedy will be able to attend both. Prom would have taken place 'tonight', but the second memorial service for victims will be taking place instead. Prom has been pushed back to next Friday, June 3, with a possibility of pushing it back even farther if needed. As it is, it will probably be a subdued affair, but the school wishes to keep things as normal as possible for the students and prom is an event that many will have been looking forward to all year. This announcement would have been made by Monday at the latest, sorry for the failure of advance warning, (though it was briefly covered in chat) but it likely wouldn't have been the most important thing on anyone's desktop this week anyway?

I am going away for the long weekend; however, I am taking my laptop with me! I likely won't be able to get on for extended periods, but I'll try to drop in and rep as I can. To recap where my guys are:

1) Julian is in LA in the dubious care of his family. He'll wake very soon but likely won't manage more than a message or two. Before he wakes, though--there's talk of a film crew going in and using clips of him in a very touching documentary about the disaster. They would have approached school officials, but I'm betting they were turned away. If you want your kids' parents to have been approached to be in it, feel free!

2) Mark is bouncing around the place, fetching things for people and generally trying to be bright and friendly without being annoying. He is near Sam or following Bobby or coaxing Jamie or curled up against Santo most other times.

3) Teddy is also playing fetch for people. He's now 100% healed despite the skewering.

4) Clint is uncharacteristically depressed. He rallies to try to help his people, but he'll slink away and angst from time to time. He's also a little more prickly than usual, so feel free to pick fights.

I'll be gone from Friday morning until Tuesday morning. If there's something I don't get to tonight and you think I'll miss it by the time I get back, just leave me a note here. Petra will just be doing her thing, visiting anyone who's hurt (and people that aren't too), knitting, and keeping close to Jared. If you want to have been visited by Petra, feel free to reference it. She rarely comes empty-handed.

Since a number of characters were/are hospitalized, we figured that having a place to keep track of it all was a good idea so that people can know what to say (or not say) about the injured characters. So here it is. If you have a character who was treated or is being treated for injuries, please reply to this with information on how long they are there and a general idea of what their condition is, as well as whether or not they are being allowed to have visitors and when you plan on having them discharged.

Remember, the hospital that the students will be in is on-campus, so if their parents are allowing them to have visitors and their condition is stable, students should still be able to visit at approved times.

For reference, there were five (permanent NPC) fatalities from the school and a large number of injuries.

ETA: The fatalities were: one middle school student, two high school students, a college student, and one cadet who died in the line of duty while helping with rescues.

Okay everyone, now that Boom has happened there are a few things you should all know that will affect your characters and play.

As of the incident on Saturday, the Boom has been covered in game world news as any natural disaster, tragic incident or other prominent event would be in our own. Camera crews, reporters and general busy bodies will be trying their best to get a hold of people and have something to run. By now there are some crude, not well shot videos by other cameras in the area of the explosion that have run on television, been capped for newspapers and are making their way around the internet. Most of what the news people have, however, is aftermath and testimonials. Well, and wild speculation, of course, especially with regards to some of the school's more prominent students. Absent concrete information the tabloids will, of course, have a field day trotting out theories of who's hurt/dead/disfigured/maimed.

On Saturday they were unclear about what happened. By Sunday it will be alleged that the explosion was the result of someone powered. By Tuesday it will be confirmed, with the addendum that it was an unfortunate violent manifestation. By Wednesday the anti-powered groups will be crawling out of the woodwork and the air waves and internet will be flooded with the resulting dispute.

As of Saturday evening all parents and guardians of Xavier's students, whether they attended the field trip or not, were contacted and updated of their child's condition. This also goes for cadets & college chaperons whom the school has contact information for. Parents who wish to will be escorted to the school to be with their children at the school's expense. By Sunday afternoon all students regardless of injury or living status will have been successfully transported back to Xavier's where the school can protect them from the media tidal wave. The only exceptions are students whose parents chose to have their child released into their custody.

As per their agreement, the press cannot gather outside the school walls. This will not stop some and there may be some encounters and arrests. The nearby township will be flooded with reporters, however, and the school will recommend that no students or faculty leave campus unless absolutely necessary. This does not mean your characters cannot leave campus, only that they are doing so at their own risk.

During this week, all players are allowed to NPC their characters' family. Parents, siblings and guardians will be available to you to use in any way you feel realistically contributes to your character's situation. Any player who feels their character's parents or guardian would try to confront S.H.E.I.L.D. agents or attempt to meet with Steve, please see a mod.

We would like to remind everyone that as of this tragedy, the best healers in the country will be recruited (or ordered in the case of agents) by S.H.E.I.L.D. to attend to victims of the explosion. This includes non-school related civilian victims. Security will be high on campus this week. Agents will be on patrol and check points to enter and exist the school will be difficult and likely frustrating to pass.

Players of International students who wish to have their character visited by representatives of their home nation are welcome to do so, however, please let a mod know beforehand.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday and Friday evenings. It is not required for students to go. The Interfaith Chapel and Sampson Counseling Center will both be open and available to students and their families twenty-four hours a day all week long. All injured students who still require medical attention will be cared for in the Reyes Medical Center.

Classes will continue, but they may not be very intensive. Students who were on the field trip and were not critically injured will be granted three days absence of their choice this week. If your character plans to take more, please notify a mod as any further absences will require mandatory counseling.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please see a mod and we will do our best to address them as quickly as possible.

I thought I'd offer, since I know that time can get away from us all, to include any character who wants to have been at the BOOM, but the player doesn't have time to write them in specifically, in Petra and Jared's thread at the Sackler Gallery. We have more than enough room for rescuers and rescuees and it wouldn't be any trouble for me to include them.

So, we figured that a) CHATS ARE FUN!!!1111! and b) it wouldn't hurt to have one more to iron out the last details, make sure we know who's there and who's getting splatted, and answer questions if anyone has them before we open plot Thursday. SO! CHAT! Wednesday, 8pm est. We'll probably be putting up the plot opener post right at midnight, so if anyone's still up and around and wants to start posting in the middle of the night you'll be more than welcome to!

Oh, and remember to please rep to the original plot post letting us know who is going to be on the trip and who is getting splatted and such.

Hello Everyone!

Today was Warren's twentieth birthday and at the last minute, he and Tony decided to throw a party. The party was held in the penthouse of the Worthington Building in Manhattan. It was private, intimate and wild. Anyone sixteen years of age and over was invited by Email. As well as most of the actors, musicians, supermodels, athletes and general ne'er do wells Tony and Warren know. And maybe a royal or two. Invites went out this afternoon. As there were maximum capacity limitations, entrance to the party was dependent on a first come basis. Your character (be they of age and had the desire to attend) could have made it in or not made it in time, it's up to you. Warren's close friends had VIP status - so the majority of the college/cadet crowd were able to get in regardless. Feel free to claim a date and help someone else.

There was an open bar, and no need for ID. As long as guests stayed in the Penthouse they could drink and otherwise make merry, but the moment they stepped out, regular laws applied. There were cars and chauffeurs to take everyone home. Worthington private security were in attendance to make sure nothing got out of hand and to see troublemakers out.

Anyone who has accounts from old games they don't want to lose, apparently all you have to do is log into them for them to be considered active, so you might want to jump on that at your first opportunity.

Yes, it is indeed time for the BOOM plot of mass trauma and destruction. Just to remind everyone right off the bat, this is an opt in plot, no one has to be involved if they don't want to, but anyone who wants to be can.

We're planning on at least 2 chats to answer questions, take suggestions, and work out details, so hopefully everyone can make one of them. The first is this Wednesday (sorry for the short notice) at 9pm Eastern and the second this Friday at 8pm Eastern. If there appears to be need for a third we'll schedule one for sometime next week.
