"Come on, Harry, drink this." Ron passed a firewhisky.

It burned and brought Harry back into the room.

"It's Severus, isn't it?" Hermione asked.

"Severus?" Ron mouthed, appalled.

Harry nodded.

"He's hurt you?"

"Yes."

Ron started to bluster; Hermione stopped him with a hand on his arm.

"You knew it would be difficult, Harry; he's difficult," she said. "Are you sure you want to pursue him?"

"It's too late, Mione. Too late," Harry mourned.

"Oh," she said, understanding. Ron looked confused, so she explained. "Harry's fallen for Severus. That's why it hurts, why it's too late."

Ron blanched.

Harry wept.
