It's absurd. Obscene. Wrong. However, it could work, and once he's thought about it long enough to be sure it's possible,, he can't think of anything else.

The materials take time to gather. Polyjuice to last weeks. A Time-Turner, which the Ministry won't miss; memory charms are useful. The piece to hold it. And back he goes.

Severus Snape, aged just-eighteen, is easy to seduce, easy to persuade. If he ever has cause to kill, he'll do it, he promises, because "Harvey" has asked.

Harry goes back to the present to bring him back. It can't have changed much, right?
