After meticulous planning and tireless promotion the time had come. A banner was hung over the bar that read Be Bitten By Love in big bold letters, with gold heart streamers and red twinkle lights strung throughout the first floor of the bar. It all looked vaguely like the place was decorated for valentine’s day, but classier -- at least that’s what Demi would argue. The Bar was buzzing with excitement, the prospect of something fun and dare say almost normal seemed to have the staff in high spirits...if not the patrons taking part in speed dating that evening. The music playing in the background was quiet classical music, just loud enough to fill any silences that may fall between pairs, but not so loud that nobody would be able to talk over it. Upon entering the bar that evening participants were greeted by a smiling staff person, given a name tag and then lead to the section designated for their preferred preference. A couple waiters and waitresses were on hand and moving through the crowd taking drink orders and encouraging everyone to enjoy themselves! Once the evening began Demi and Cherry gave a brief rundown of the rules (the few that they had), mapped out the flow of the evening, explained that once the chime sounded it was time to move onto your next match and again encouraged everyone to take advantage of the evening and wished them all good luck. |
After clearing their presence with the LBJ leadership the day before, Ryan and Violet set up in the parking lot east of the main building. Diners are encouraged to mill around and enjoy the s'mores gas-free weather; a couple of folding chairs are set out, though seating is limited. The menu is clearly written on the exterior of the truck. Violet's typically the one taking & handing out orders, working the window, etc. while Ryan cooks.
