By this time Florrie is past joking about it and just repairs his nose without complaint. It's a good thing she knows well what it should look like.

She gives him a cheese puff by way of consolation.

Kal's feet are on the ground almost before the ref calls the match, and she heads straight for the med tent. (She'll have broom and everything unless someone comes out to grab it from her before she gets there.)

"Not what I wanted to get you for your birthday, I promise," she says, attempting a smile that ends up as more of a grimace.

Florrie deposits the broom outside the door. There's a mostly-vanished tower of cheese puffs in the med tent. She settles Kal in a chair, clearly upset about, well, everything, but not saying a word about that, just unwrapping Kal and doing diagnostics to figure out what is dislocated and what is worse.

The odds are very good that Kal's going to Mungo's.

"Shoulder's fine, wrist is fine," Kal says as Florrie unwraps her. "I can move it, but it's weak. My broom bucked. Or twisted. Whatever it did...something popped. I haven't used it since that, though."

It's been immobilised, and she's been so focused on the match that she's forced the pain into a sort of white noise in the back of her mind, but she definitely hisses when everything is freed up. She cradles her hurt arm with the other.

Florrie looks a bit green around the gills by the time she's finished examining the injury.

"I can patch you up but this is the sort of thing I want Pye to handle to make sure you get all the motion in your elbow back. The ambulator will take you to Mungo's and I'll follow on after I've talked to Merc."

She immobilises it again and gives Kal a pain potion, because what will need to be done at Mungo's won't be affected by that, and scribbles some notes for Pye before sending Kal off to A&E.

Kal nods and takes the potion with her good hand, but she doesn't drink it just yet, as much as she wants the relief. "Can you refer me to someone else? I'd rather Augustus not be the one who has to see to this."

"He's the expert and most qualified to do the work. If the tendons aren't rejoined expertly, you could lose the range of motion in your elbow," Florrie explains. "It could be a career-ending injury."

If Kal were a Muggle like Joy's brother, it would be a career-ending injury.

"Pye's trained to deal with working on family and friends. We all are, because we all have to be. I realise it's uncomfortable for you, but it's his job to take care of severe trauma injuries. This is one."

Kal presses her lips together and decides not to mention that she's more concerned about his comfort than her own. It hasn't really sunk in that this could be—no, is, Florrie had said—something more serious than some ribs broken by a Bludger. She's pretty quiet for a minute.

"Well, at least we won," she says with a sigh and tips back the pain potion.

He was there when Ada went down but a few of the others took hits too and at this point he figures there has to be a lineup for the med tent. Merc makes his way over once he congratulates all the players.

Looking like this match did nothing for his blood pressure, and like he frayed most of his last nerves in these 6hours, Merc is there waiting outside the med tent. He at least put out the latest cigarette before Florrie came out, but spending at least half this match chain smoking does leave evidence.

"Well...not the happy birthday I wanted for you," he admits dryly and sounding tired. But at least with the match over and coming away with the win means there's some of the stress off his shoulders.

Florrie hands him a cheese puff.

"I don't think Kal ended her career by playing with a severely torn tendon. They should be able to patch it up so she has full range of motion again. She may miss the next bloc though." Which is not great but as long as Georgi and Lex stay healthy, it should be all right.

She doesn't even complain that he stinks of smoke. She has no room to, given the state of the tower of cheese bread. (She did have some help.)

He takes the cheese puff gratefully and transfigures himself a stool in the med tent. "Well I suppose that's something." Truth was he'd planned to give Kal the remaining regular season matches. It wasn't often you were safe enough in standings to give your reserves extra pitch time. And after this match they had quite the lead but it didn't quite feel worth the payoff.

"Has everything been handed off to Mungo's? Or still on duty?" He held up a small flask with a bow on it. Her post match birthday drink so she wouldn't miss out.

"Close enough to done. I still have to pack this place up and follow on to Mungo's to see how Kal is doing. But I can have one." She takes the flask and unstoppers it.

"Angus stayed with us the whole match. Here's to more like that, at least." She raises the flask and drinks, and passes it to Merc.

His mood certainly didn't match the festive pink of his suit jacket as he takes the flask back and takes a swig. "The lads really stepped up out there, Kenna too," he admitted.

"Trying to remind myself this was a win, a close one but a win. And that it makes us nearly untouchable in the rankings going into the final two blocs but...we didn't need the points." He leans forward to hand the flask back off to her. "Positive things: We played 5 hours without a keeper and squeaked out a win. Kal was a trooper. The lads did exactly what I wanted of them in this situation and Jason led them well. And Kenna was our hero with better timing than I could've hoped for. On a match with every reserve playing and losing the keeper so early...they did well. Just..." He couldn't put his finger on what was bothering him.

Florrie waves off the flask. She'll be apparating soon so she can't have another. Alas.

"I can talk about what I didn't like. We're now down two reserves going into the Neep. We squeaked it out while the referees were being arses to Wigtown, which isn't on us but I can see how it would look suspicious. Even considering the injuries, we took six hours to down a team that's in the cellar of the rankings, or was. They might make the playoffs off this match. It's not a surprise you're anxious under the circumstances. I know I am, about the injuries. A late-season match against a low-ranked opponent shouldn't cost us this much.

"Tomorrow we should talk about what we're doing to convince the team not to play when injured. Or how to keep from getting injured. Not tomorrow. Tuesday. Tomorrow we have dinner and don't think much about this except when Aunt Minerva asks us about it."

Merc took a longer drink as she listed off the negatives, because they were all things he'd spent the last hours stressing and beating himself up about and while he'd rather not hear them out loud, he wasn't going to stop her. "Could go the other way on refs. Wigtown got 12 fouls with multiple players getting 3 or more. And no ejections except that sham one. Referees did both teams wrong. They need to halt aggressive play that nets multiple fouls per person, not let it slide after they messed up an ejection. If they had maybe we wouldn't be down two reserves with two others injured."

Merc got up from his stool and left the flask aside in case she wanted to bring it with her for later. "Not tomorrow," he agreed. "Tomorrow is the day off and an actual birthday."

Afternoon, everyone, thanks for coming out for such a thrilling match.

Before we begin, just wanted to give a brief note:

The Macmillan Foundation, in cooperation with the Uplift Foundation, is pleased to announce the formation of the Mental Health Practice at the Montrose Free Clinic. With a initial focus on addressing the mental health issues of everyone affected by the war and helping people deal with the long term, often hidden, harm done by it, this expansion of the Montrose Free Clinic will serve the goals of both Foundations and that of the greater wizarding community of Scotland and Britain.

To paraphrase Minister Shacklebolt, our goal is "Making Britons Better". We look forward to the success and expansion of our efforts and cooperation. Look for formal announcements and fundraising opportunities once the season is over!

(PR + trauma talk)

Caroline, Nobby, and Jeremy are on hand to speak to any press looking to learn more. Caroline has a statement prepared about the joint efforts to address a critical health need. If pressed she will admit they are currently vetting interested candidates for a director position.

Depending on the length of any questions/interviews, Jason pops over a few minutes into it. The tiara is in place, along with the neon pink feather boa. Mandela is dressed smartly with his pink bow tie close at his side. He overhears them still talking about the Montrose Free Clinic.

Tempted as anyone might be to turn it to quidditch, Jason is more than able to pivot and stay on message. "Without the help of trained therapists I would not have been able to return to professional quidditch or even the wizarding world." On message and personal. But also not anything news. "I have never been silent about anything, my struggle to overcome the trauma from the war and Azkaban chief among those. I was fortunate to not only find a therapist, but be able to afford high quality care to overcome my post traumatic stress disorder and depression. These are not easily won battles, and they don't have a final end date. Most of my days are good ones, but not all of them.

There are still plenty of people who are unable to overcome this because of lack of education or lack of resources. It we want to be a better nation, we need to be able to meet people where they are. The community needs more people trained and ready to take on the task to indeed make Britons Better."

Shoutout to Brock's

Roger isn't usually found in the pen after matches, but today he has ventured into the fray with the dual purpose of backing up Jason and Uplift (if required/asked) and promoting his awesome Bootmakers. Though his nose has been fixed, the first purple of the resulting black eyes are starting to show. Waffle is at his side, still carrying his bright pink bone, and Ro picks him up as Rita asks about the fashion statement footwear.

"Of course we've gone pink to support Jason and Uplift and these boots were supplied by Brock Boots of Neath. I had the pleasure of collaborating with them on this particular design." He lifted a foot so the photographer (and reporter) could get a better look. "They're more lightweight than some boots but have just as much -if not more- protection. The armour can withstand a bludger hit at 60mph, and dissipates the impact so no injury is sustained. I haven't tried to see if it'll work on a hit faster than that, yet." He grinned, scratching Waffle behind his ears.

"Ah, your lot were all brill. Really thought we had you, well played all round. Especially your Seeker; Blythe'll be chatting her up for sure."

Whatever Waffle does is clearly ok with Dizzy.

"And no offence taken if you were yelling at me. I was a bit rougher than I meant to be. I half thought the refs were going to bench me after that. Anyroad, just wanted to check in and make sure you were all in one piece; I ought to go find your mate Jason King and get square with him for the pantsing as well. Cheers, luv."
