[She doesn't take it personally. And honestly she's not sure if that reaction means she shouldn't do it or she should do it more. Touch can be a healing thing. But for now she touches the keys lightly, not pressing down. Of all the many things she's learned and done with her time in the dome music hasn't really been one of them unless you count the occasional song at Lyrical just for fun.]

Twenty one years give or take. I don't think my seniority means as much when we deal with decades instead of months. [Not that she ever put much stock in having seniority. She never felt like it entitled her to anything. It just meant she'd seen more change and more loss within the dome. And now by only the smallest increment.]

What else are you thinking about? [She's not sure how real or deep he wants to get with her, but she's here for it.]

[ He doesn't want to get in super deep, considering their history, but he also doesn't have any reason to shut her down. Not anymore, it's been too long and he doesn't have a lot of people left he feels he can talk to. Regardless of what happened back then she's one of the people in the dome that knows him the best. ]

My mom, mostly. Just wondering if... if time passes the same there. If she's still alive.

This is all she has and once upon a time that was a tragedy and now it feels like she's the one who got off easy. She reaches out to place her hand over his and give it a squeeze.]

[Not that he was asking. None of them know. Are there really dopplegangers? Does time stop or move differently? Maybe they're are doubles. Copies of the people they think they are. They've had decades to come up with theories and even with access to the technology and the run of the place they still have so few answers. Right now she very much wants to believe that his mom never had to know of a world where her son disappeared from the timeline if nothing else. Where she could be as happy and stable as possible.]

[ He doesn't shy away from her touch, though he also doesn't entirely know what to do with it. They have history and things are weird, between them but more so with him as a person. He never recovered. She bounced back, found someone who loves her, continued her life the best you can here but he never did. He never will. ]

Maybe it's just... it's just been a minute back home. Maybe some day we'll wake up and it'll be like nothing has happened. [ He doesn't sound too convinced. ]

[The words don't match up well to what she believes they know of the prison. It could just be hopeful thinking of course. They all indulge in that sometimes. Because of the way things have been for Reid she worries that it might be more and she's not sure if that makes it important to correct him or better to let it be. Problem is, he's exactly the person she'd look to for that answer.] Might as well hope for the best as long as we're hoping.

For all they know, it hasn't been twenty years in prison. There's no way to tell. ]

[He has a point there, not that she heard it in his bracket thoughts. To some degree in this set up anything they believe is just a reality they are choosing. It's the sort of thing she's aware of, but doesn't spend too much time thinking about anymore. At a certain point she just wants to live and be as happy as she can under the circumstances while making what improvements she can.

It feels like they defeated the wardens. There is a sense of freedom she didn't feel before even though they are still trapped. She's also at a point where it would be extremely hard to leave anyone here. She'd do it for Pavel. If they could get to his home she would leave with him, but it would be hard to do it and hard to live with it.

She listens to him play and notices the change, wondering how much is state of mind and how much is actual deterioration.] You should come over for dinner sometime.

[Not pity. Well, definitely more than a little concern. But she would also like to have a deeper connection with Reid again. It obviously wouldn't be what it was when they were together, but she always thought they could be closer than this too. Someday. It's been twenty years of someday. She's always held back slightly for him to direct things. She doesn't want to hurt him in some way with it. So, again she nods.]

I guess you've heard my cooking hasn't improved. [She smiles softly.]

It's not about that.

[ She knows what it's about, or he hopes that she does. Maybe it's been twenty years but how it went down back then left everything askew. She was so fast to move on. Sometimes he wonders if she had moved on before they even broke up. It's happened before. Either way, it's the worst situation possible for him to find himself in when he's like this, disoriented, depressed, borderline suicidal. Who'd want to get a glimpse of what could've been when you're basically hitting rock bottom? ]
