[Ianto whimpers at the noise, too strung out on nerves to even scream. It's probably him coming back, it has to be. When he spots the raptor it's almost a relief. He swallows hard, trying to get control enough to move. He's done this before, he's stood up to monsters, he can handle this. It's no worse than a weevil. But he's never faced a weevil when he was too scared to think or plan or make a snappy comment. This is so different but he's not going to let himself be the reason Spike gets hurt so he does his best to nod, eyes still red and wet and not at all confident looking.]

I can run. Not far, I don't think. But I can do it.

[If it were Jack giving him instructions he'd follow them immediately, partially because he knows Jack always comes back and partially because first and foremost he's always been his boss. Now he wastes juts enough time to say,] Don't get hurt.

[Its not much but it means more, like he really cares if something does happen. Then he's off, staggering towards the apartment. It's Chuck's building and he's been here before so he remembers where the door is, makes it there and waits just inside, holding it open, not going a single step farther until Spike is here, too.]

[ He won't get hurt, this is his bloody back yard, the thing he knows how to do better than anything else in the entire world. He wastes no time before vamping out and sure, the original plan had been to hold the raptor off or scare it away but when he finally joins Ianto at the door it's clear he did a little more than that.

It takes some effort to disengage the game face but he manages, wiping blood off with the back of his hand. Lizards taste nasty, as it happens. There's a scratch on his arm, slowly knitting itself together. ]

You alright?

[He looks far more worried about the scratch than the blood or the vampire face, repeating desperately to himself that it's from the raptor, not something else. He stares out wildly into the dark for one last long moment before slamming the door shut. Is he alright? Physically yes, but emotionally? Not even close. How can he be alright with Tyki out there ready to return at any moment?

He takes a few steps back and bumps into an apartment door. It's ajar, furnished but uninhabited looking. One more door he can get between himself and Tyki and he staggers inside. Only then does he try and answer that question because there really is only one answer to it.]

No, I don't think I am.

[ At least here they won't get snuck up on by raptors and just to make sure Spike locks the door behind him, in case the overgrown lizards have learned how to work a handle. He should probably wash up, make himself look a little less grisly, but that can wait a little longer. ]

Are you hurt? [ He doesn't look hurt but why don't we start with the easier questions and hope that'll calm the both of them down enough to reach the point where perfectly platonic physical contact can happen. ]

[He shakes his head because no, he's not physically hurt. That didn't happen this time. Spike saved him. Someone actually came. It's an overwhelming feeling, one that cuts through all the terror still surging through him and lets him feel like he can finally catch his breath. He doesn't feel safe yet or anything remotely close to alright but he no longer looks like he's about to collapse.]

No, he didn't hurt me. He was going to but then you came.

Put me in danger? I'm dead, Ianto! [ It'd take a very precise hit for him to bite the dust. Other than a strike to the heart or a clean beheading, he'd survive almost anything. ]

The force field would've kept him from touching you too. [ He guesses. Hopes. Tyki seemed just as affected by the mistletoe bot fields in the past and this seems to be the same deal. Whatever, it's not something he feels like arguing and so he drops it, goes to fetch a blanket off the couch. Thank you, Wardens. ]

[He didn't think of using the forcefield as protection. Before he was too concerned with making sure the people he cares about are safe. That it would keep Tyki from touching him never even crossed his mind and he lets out a desperate, relieved sob as he realizes it's true. Right now he can't touch either of them even if he does follow them here. They'll be alright. It's going to be okay.

He's crying now, wet, ugly sobs of relief and anxiety and fear all rolled into one. He huddles in the blanket, past caring about what an out of control mess he is about all this.]

I thought... He said he was going to... [He can't finish either sentence but it's not as though Spike doesn't know what he did last time.]

[ Yeah, he knows what Tyki can do. Got a small taste of that particular kind of sadism not too long ago and if it ever comes down to it, Spike will play as dirty as possible because anything else would mean long long hours of torture at the hands of the Noah. There's no doubt about that. Tyki is creative.

Another problem for another time. Right now he has to solve this whole no-touching issue because there's no way he can just stand here like an asshole and wait for Ianto to magically feel better. Maybe if he just... keeps himself perfectly calm and level. The kiosk is dark, the wardens must be busy looking elsewhere... they can't be too vigilant about this right now, can they? ]

I know. [ He steps in closer, inches in so the forcefield will be a nudge rather than a push if it kicks in. ]

[Maybe the Wardens are busy today. Or maybe it's the layer of blanket between the two of them or the bands are able to tell the difference between a heart beating with fear and one with arousal. Maybe someone is keeping an eye on all this and makes an exception for the situation or maybe they just get lucky. Whatever the reason he's able to lean closer until he's in his arms, still shuddering and crying but instantly feeling so much better.]

[ There's such a wash of relief when the bands don't kick in that he's almost worried that will trigger it but no, no interruptions. He circles his arms around Ianto with some caution, holding him steady once he's certain that it's safe to do so. What a mess, the both of them. All blood and snot, respectively. ]

Told you I would. [ He's not good at being a hero but he is pretty decent at saving people he cares about. If something had happened... well. Let's not think about that. ]

[Right now, like this, he can almost believe that. He feels safe. And maybe that feeling is temporary or foolish but it's enough to start to calm him down until he can finally stop crying. He's still shivering a bit, exhausted and overwhelmed from everything but aside from that and the occasional sniff he seems to be more composed. He's not moving out of Spike's arms unless he's forced to.]

No sense in crossing the dome again just to get back to their apartment building and unless there's some serious shit going down outside, Spike's done all the heroing he can be arsed to do. Leave it to someone else to save the world, he got what he wanted. ]

Well, you didn't have me last time, did you? [ Maybe that's unfair towards Jack but seriously, does no one know what to do with a damsel in distress around here? Bloody hell.

He quietly makes a note to talk to Rebecca about setting up some kind of panic button. She's techy, she can probably solder together something more efficient than the communicators. Like a pager. Why isn't anyone using pagers anymore? ]

No one knew last time. It was random. [Spoken automatically, like he's very used to saying it when people feel guilty about what happened. And it's true, even if it doesn't make things better. He lets Spike steer him wherever he has in mind, not about to fight or protest. He still doesn't really trust his legs to keep him vertical just now.]/font>

Doesn't matter. [ And it doesn't. He's an expert at random attacks, usually because he's the one doing them. You have to be prepared. Anyone can become a victim.

Keeping his hands steady on Ianto he steers them over to the couch, not wanting to create too much of a distance in case the bands kick in again but maybe there's nothing to worry about there. His chin and throat is still streaked in reptile blood, but at least the gash on his arm stopped bleeding. Sexy. ]

We'll stay here tonight, alright? Let them sort it out.

[Sex is the last thing on his mind right now. It feels good just to be off his feet, to be able to slump against Spike on the couch and not worry about the possibility of collapsing any more. He's not about to suggest they go somewhere else or head back out into the fray. Let someone else do the world saving tonight. He settles as comfortably as he can against Spike, head resting on his shoulder as he slowly regains his composure.]

Aright. I'm sorry you got hurt. Will you be alright?

[ He makes himself comfortable, fingers idly stroking through Ianto's hair and everything is such a goddamn mess it doesn't matter if he makes more of it. They can check if the water is still running later, clean themselves up. Maybe he'll slink into Rebecca's apartment and borrow (steal) something to eat. For now he's perfectly happy just sitting here and get themselves together. ]

Ianto... I'm dead. [ Softly, teasing. ] I'll be fine. Would've already healed up if it weren't for this bloody place.

[The hands in his hair feel good and he feels himself slowly start to relax under their touch. Getting cleaned up doesn't sound like such a bad idea either and finds himself idly wishing they could shower together. It sounds pretty damn appealing right now but he doubts they can get away with it. It does prompt a thought though, one related to the bands.]

Saving me has to count for something, doesn't it? With points, I mean. Maybe something good came out of all this.

[He manages something like a laugh.] This is the second time I've been black banded and I've also died. I think I've probably got less points than you after your heroics today.

[Oh he'll have some for the Defense Force and for the library, probably enough to get the new bands but he's hardly swimming in them. It's nice to think about being able to upgrade them, being able to actually touch. He's really trying to focus on the good here because the second he stops he'll be worried about shadows lurking in the hall, waiting.]

Hey. Second time for me too and last I checked, you never went around biting people. [ Yeah, that probably hurt his chances a lot. He's also not really been all that social, there's hardly any kumbayah's in his arsenal. ]

Even if we're neck and neck with that, you don't drink the way I do. Pretty sure they frown on that here.

[He snuggles closer, getting a little more comfortable. Talking is good. Talking means not thinking. It makes brings start to feel normal. He doesn't know if he believes that Spike really could take on Tyki of he followed them here but he desperately hopes he can.]

We can ask them tomorrow. If you want. [He adds that second part quickly, not wanting to rush him into this. Just because he's ready for these bands to be gone doesn't mean everyone else involved necessarily is.]
