[Day 329] In Bloom Event/Dance Mingle
[DAYTIME: Walking in a floral wonderland. Not to be confused with an actual wonderland. Completely different event. You could be anywhere and everywhere today and not escape the petals.

DANCE: The sector 2 garden is a little extra pleasant and inviting this evening. Gentle breeze, beautiful flowers, delicious hor d'oeuvres, sparkling punch, and music. And dry. Did we mention it's dry? Not a single flood as far as the eye can see. So, find someone and get out there and dance.]

(OOC: Event INFO. Feel free to have your mingle set up cover both aspects of the day.)

[They didn't really call them mobile suits but she and Neil have discussed this before.] Yes, it's a mobile suit. It seems to be very similar, but our naming was different.

[ Neil takes a breath... then lets it out again, laughing quietly. ]

Lyle mentioned there were other worlds with mobile suits, and now I'm curious. But... I think we can talk about that later, not at the dance, if you're up for questions at all, of course.

Of course, Neil. Anytime you want. I just hope I can answer them for you, though I have piloted them too, so I do know a few things. [Though not generally in combat situations except that one time we should definitely not speak about at a dance. It occurs to her there's a lot he doesn't know about her anymore, and some of those stories never get easier to tell, but she brings a smile to her lips instead of anything more mournful. It's a beautiful day and it's their duty to celebrate it!]

What's your favorite flower? [Maybe not a rich source for further discussion, but a way to start the new topic train.]

You've piloted them? Yep, we'll definitely compare notes.

[ He miiiight be a little oblivious to her memories - and his lack of it - but he does know that, well. Gigantic massive weapons are just not a good conversation for a dance. Not because they're inherently wrong or scary or bad on their own, no. (Gundams are amazing machines, even if he's not quite as into their mystique as Setsuna.) Things that happen around them, though, well. Those tend to be very complicated.

Instead, he rubs the back of his neck.
]

You're not going to let me get out of this with 'shamrocks,' will you?

[She just smiles at his question about her piloting and moves to their new topic.] Do you really consider shamrocks flowers?

[ Definitely not a party topic. At all. ]

They technically do also blossom, you know!

I didn't realize that. Tell me more of these shamrocks of yours. [Teasing a little although she's perfectly happy to actually talk about them too.]

[ Hand to his heart. ] My very own shamrocks. Oh, I like that.

It's just - they're very Irish. I grew up with a lot of them around. I could always use my sister's favorite flower, but--

wait a minute. Have you already asked me about my favorite flower - before?

Ah, no. Did you think it was a trick to see if you'd answer the same way?

Trick like that? No. Trick so you might tease me for changing my mind? Now that I might think a little more likely.

[ It's not that he can presume to know her, though the time spent making the baskets has clued him in, somewhat. But Neil suspects that Euphie misses the him that remembers her from before, too, and doing something good-natured to link the past with the present... that, he can believe.

Or maybe he's projecting. But the way her eyes widen at the suggestion, well. He really doesn't mean to trap him. It doesn't sound like what he's seen of her, it simply doesn't.

[She does miss how close and comfortable she and Neil had grown, but she's also extremely happy to have him back in any form and enjoying the time they spend together. It can be a little hard knowing when to hold back so she doesn't overwhelm him now or assume too much.]

I suppose I wouldn't mind teasing you if I had a good reason. I'm sure something will come up without me being tricky. [She smiles at him playfully.]

[ And Neil's eye glitters back. ]

You know that only means I'll be finding things to tease you about in return, right?

Just making sure you're aware of the peril.

[ Congratulations, Euphie. You made him blush a little. He's been welcome with places and people before, but - it's rarely been explicit, like that. The warmth that he feels for it just does reach his cheeks, no other sources of embarrassment. ]

Thank you, Euphie. I'll do my best. Maybe for now I'll just volunteer myself to help you with the welcoming baskets more regularly... how's that sound?

I would like that very much. They do get heavy after all. [But that's not at all why she'd like it.] Just don't think that will stop me from trying to tempt you into the school.

[ Neil chuckles, easy. ]

You know, Lyle's almost finished the job of talking me into showing up for some of the classes, at least. Even if I'm... [ Shrug. ] Old. The whole thing with different worlds and how some of those differences can come up.

You still look youthful for someone so very old. [Teasing.] There's no harm in trying a class. I promise no one will make you keep going if you don't want to.

And there are a lot of differences, but it might be more impressive how many similarities there are.

[ He laughs at the first part, and then it quiets, his eyebrow rising at her for a moment. His voice is soft, and warm. ]

People are people everywhere, anywhere. Both the differences and the similarities are important so we can understand each other.

Yeah, well.

Back home, I was in an organization aimed at eradicating war. [ He's not sure how much of that she's learned from him, before. Bit it seems right to explain, at least a little. ] Not by conquering the world, but by stomping out armed conflicts... for all alike. We knew we weren't going to get thanks for it, not the way the plan was going to unfold, and we needed... each of us had to know we meant it when we started.

Wanting peace for all people equally. It made sense for me to really consider why I cared. That's what I came up with. People are people. A few individuals here and there might not be good for many, but...

In the end, most of us just want to be happy.

Peace would be a wonderful thing. I've only ever seen it here in this prison. I'm not sure if that counts. [Such a small community and it still has it's dysfunctions.] I can understand why that would be important to you. Even knowing it wouldn't be praised or maybe understood.

[She's always believed him to be a good man and he hasn't changed her opinion from that with his return.]

Are you? Happy.

[ Neil shrugs, though his eye is even gentler at Euphie. Not knowing peace at all, before, that must be very, very difficult. ]

We did what somebody much more clever than any of us thought necessary. And I mean, he made possible infinite sustainable power source, by designing an orbital solar panels ring that actually did get made. He really was... something.

And - I dunno. It's a bit too soon to tell, you know? There're definitely things I'm not too sure about, that's for sure. But... it's possibly possible for me to be happy here, I guess.

[She was also shielded from any real warfare or consequences of it most of her life. Not that she didn't have her own difficulties.]

Possibility is a good thing I think. [Her smile is a gentle one.]

Who was this clever person? I don't think I've heard anyone mention him before.
