[DAYTIME: Walking in a floral wonderland. Not to be confused with an actual wonderland. ~~Completely different event.~~ You could be anywhere and everywhere today and not escape the petals.

DANCE: The sector 2 garden is a little extra pleasant and inviting this evening. Gentle breeze, beautiful flowers, delicious hor d'oeuvres, sparkling punch, and music. And dry. Did we mention it's dry? Not a single flood as far as the eye can see. So, find someone and get out there and dance.]

[ Okay, okay, even with his best intentions, Neil just couldn't ignore that tone. And, fond as he was of the Tieria he had once known, even after only a day he could tell that it was not normal, or all right, for the gentler ways he'd adopted since. While it had been Tieria's normal way, before, now it felt...

Like a protective shell.

Neil lowered his voice, letting go of any teasing for the moment. ]

Hey. Something's bothering you about that mission. It's all right to tell me to bu-- to back off, you know.

Tiring. As if it takes a lot of effort to be in a crowd.

[And that could be for several reasons. He wasn't exactly sure why. It could be that he felt like he had to be on alert all the time, as he was basically programmed in a way for combat. It could be because crowds made it hard to focus and were too unpredictable, leaving him feeling almost powerless should something go wrong. It could be that his Innovade senses were on overload from the music and the lights and the talking and the smells from all the foods and other things going on around him, not to mention his quantum brainwaves reacting to anyone that got too close, and it wore him out.

He just didn't handle crowds well. He wasn't designed for it. But he didn't know how to explain that to a human, even Neil.]

It might? [He honestly wasn't sure. It wasn't like they had tons of large parties with Celestial Being that he knew how he'd react. The only time was that mission back home. That didn't really count.

Here, though, for the other parties he had gotten himself into attending, it had always been the same. He either managed to find a way to leave early, or he just stayed in all day the next day, but he always left feeling drained.]

Good.

I mean, not that it applies for a party set up by our, ah, hosts, but usually whoever is organizing it tends to prefer people to have fun at these things. Not feel bad. If it helps, that'll make it easier for you not to have to avoid them later in the evening, too, at whatever future party I'm guessing you might attend.

And I think that thought sort of ran away with me.

[Tieria just nodded. It has run away with him. He couldn't argue against that. But, he wasn't really sure what else he could add to that verbally, so he just started heading out for that walk away from the crowd. Yes, Neil said dance first, but if Neil wasn't going to pull him on to the dance floor right this second, then he was going to initiate the walk instead.]

	Not just the ones that the prison sets up, but any large party. [Some inmates had taken it on themselves to do large parties as well. It was only the smaller ones that Tieria had been okay with. And, even then, it did take a bit of energy at times.] (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Mmm. Maybe it wasn't as bad a thing as I sometimes thought, that we didn't exactly try to celebrate Earth holidays of random choice, on the Ptolemy.

[ There were no shouldn'ts or shoulds about the comment. This was how Tieria felt, and that was all there was to it. Take it into account and move on, try to be considerate of it in the future. That was what made sense to him at least. ]

Maybe not at first. But, I think I would have been okay as I got used to everyone.

[Maybe not everyone on the satellite, but he didn't think he would have minded just the Ptolemy crew.

Of course, after he said it, he realized that getting used to everyone really didn't happen until after Neil was gone. Before that, Tieria had been really standoffish to everyone else, and he had tended to avoid socializing with them.

Oops.]
